  • There are too many Boxing and UFC fanboys expecting of karate violence and inexistent respect for the opponent.

  • I know this is point fighting but there are things here you can see and can learn if you actually do full contact combat sports. 1 Occupying the guard, and 2 If you miss, you control (that's high level defensively responsible). These 2 are very useful in full contact fighting but rarely used by a lot of fighters except maybe for high level fighters. I can see very clearly that these 2 are doing both of these. Aside from these 2 techniques I can also see other skills used by high level fighters in both boxing and MMA that I can point out in this fight. If you don't see the practical techniques used here, then you have not fought in the ring before. I'm not karate but I do boxing and have competed before.

  • How is this fighting? Let alone considered a sport. All they do is punch and they hesitate to attack. This is an insult to true karate Edit: Alot of people replying in the comments saying this is kumite sparring hence the fighting style. My point is, that when karate was founded it was much more aggressive and sparring was full contact, not this jumping contest that they call karate. Sadly dojos have watered down karate for profit and kumite was only made for the sole purpose of making karate an Olympic sport. Lastly, this style of fighting would get you slept in a street fight or in a situation where you need to defend yourself.

  • Its SAD to see how Karate has evolved. This bs is useless on the street and thats not what karate is about. Trying to make it into a sport competition has ruined this incredible martial art. Hope one day it can return to its roots. These people are incredible athletes but practice bullshit karate.

  • This looks ridiculous. Like two peacocks sizeing eachother up, or two crabs having a squabble over a fish. Looks all bad, but no one is losing a feather. No disrespect meant though, I know they are two incredibly skilled fighters. I practiced karate as a kid, before moving on to other systems. So this is a take from someone who just realized they never actually seen a real karate bout before.
