The Battle of Berlin was the final major offensive of the European Theatre of World War II. It began in late April 1945, as Soviet forces advanced towards the German capital from the east, while Allied forces were closing in from the west. The battle lasted for two weeks and resulted in the capture of Berlin by Soviet forces on May 2, 1945.
