3 ways to improve your Kipping Bar Muscle Ups by working on the APPROACH
Always been good at pull ups and despite being able to do 15+ could never do a muscle up but this video just helped me do my first, thank you 🏆
YAY!! So HAPPY to hear that. Great work!
Calisthenics=👍 CrossFit=👎
Calisthenics is great yes, and you actually do some in CrossFit so essentially you are booing yourself haha
@@hattiekanyo yeah calisthenics with bad form. I give you the butterfly pull-up.
@@covidfartfog8076 lmao
Butterfly pull ups are not calisthenics... in CrossFit we do: strict pull ups, strict ring muscle ups, strict handstand push ups, handstand holds - all which are calisthenics lol @@covidfartfog8076
So basically all the good things you do Is calisthenics the bad exercises you do are crossfit, you said that.
To the people complaining, a muscle up like this is a great progression to the actual muscle up. Overtime it's gonna be cleaner and cleaner, but you have to start somewhere Edit: I realised a while after posting this that a resistance band would be a better way to learn the strict muscle up
Absolutely fucking not
@@miguelmiquelino1692I know plenty of people that have learned it the correct way without doing this. You just have to work on all the little pieces in between and eventually it will come. I am currently having to go at learning the muscle up and I'm not doing this.
That's because you are probably learning the strict muscle up, which is great! But for CrossFit you need to learn the KIPPING Muscle Up and that is what this exercise is for!
I realised a while after posting this that a resistance band would be a better way to learn the strict muscle up
Nope.
I do this muscles up variation for parkour, I need to keep my upper body strength for the swings/regrabs while training. This allows me to not become fatigued over training sessions ! Thank you for the video
Hattie, thanks for an effective advice 🙏
You're so welcome!
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for you tips ! 🙂
Of course! Enjoyyyy!
I love it
thanks this should help
Thnx for the tip it's work💯
Happy to help! :)
Dynamic muscle up/ gymnastics is the way to go
Agreed
Obrigado
Cool 👍🏼 Thanks 🙏🏼
Momentum at its best
was waiting to see a muscle up
This is just approach practice. :)
The comments on here lol. Why you guys need to troll accounts leaving your opinions on what is or is not an “acceptable” movement in your OPINION… she is helping people learn bar muscle ups - with a kip - which is what they do in GYMNASTICS which is a sport in the OLYMPICS
That isnt a muscle up.
thats why the video is called muscle up progressions lmfao
@@mr.microwave9134 it isnt called progression..
@refl3x but it is a progression video. It's just working on the BMU approach - which is an important piece of getting a BMU.... Also, if you want to see a BMU head on over to my video where I do 21 of them and that one is called 'Bar Muscle Up' because what I am doing is the.... Bar Muscle Up lol
@@hattiekanyo sorry but i wouldn't call crossfit muscle ups "muscle ups", strict calisthenics muscle ups are actual muscle ups that takes much more strength.
@@Hamza-tu4fd yes it's true, strict do require more strength, that's why it's called strict and not kipping lol but this isn't the goal here. Why bash someone when their goals are just merely different then yours? It's okay if have different goals and do different exercises. You have your fun and I'll have mine. 💜☺️
nice!
Thanks!
At first you would use a heavy lot of momentum but overtime you would use less and less momentum untill you could do clean ones..it feels akward at first but try to use less and less momentum and also use bands to help you use less momentum
Yes I like this. This exercise is for the APPROACH, where a lot of people want to just start RIGHT under the bar, which is inefficient. If you can have a perfect approach where you are jumping into that HOLLOW position things will be a lot easier and eventually help with that little momentum but strong pull. It's all about working the BIG movement first and then cleaning it up as it goes. :)
Not hating on you at all, but I just think these cross fit ones should be called like ‘swing ups’ or something. Because it is not the same exercise as a muscle up.
Yeah you're right. It's actually called a "KIPPING Bar Muscle Up" I'm going to change that. :)
Congratulations on doing something your average 10 year old could learn in half an hour
Aweeee thanks so much, I really appreciate the support! ;)
We all know she is fitter and stronger than all these kids complaining about the kipping so why do they even comment? Real athletic people make them insecure. This is just one method of training; if you like to learn to do muscle-ups some other way go on, but just so you know: you’ll get the strict one much faster if you include the kipping one in your progression. Momentum is heavily used in gymnastics but I don’t see all these negative comments on the videos of Olympic performances. Oh, and when you ignorant folks will learn about the “cheating” grips the gymnasts use to be able to hold on to the bar your brain will explode.
:) Thanks for this!
Cause it’s the internet and lipping is not only a terrible exercise it makes you look like a goof
or build enough power via exercise to do it without momentum
I agree in a way but that doesn't work for CrossFit competitions, which CF athletes are most of my clients. This is the reason for this video, is to teach CrossFit athletes the Kipping Bar Muscle Up for competitions. :)
@@hattiekanyo aaah sorry, I didn't realise you did it via momentum in CF. In that case good stuff 👍
I don’t think there is generated momentum in a standard muscle-up..?
For Kipping Bar Muscle Ups there is. And that is what I am teaching here, for the KIPPING Bar Muscle Up :)
And I though that my kipping muscle ups were terrible🗿
lol... these aren't bar muscle ups. It's a drill to help with them.
Wrong progressions, you want 1. Magic Button 2. L sit pull up 3. Knees to Chest Don’t ever do that flappy fish arching back thing guys. Look up Chris Heria
I agree with you for STRICT Bar Muscle Ups, but that is not what I am teaching in this video. I am teaching KIPPING for a reason.. for CrossFit athletes who want to compete. Thanks for the tips though, love them! :)
I strongly suggest you not doing it. Edit: you can do it, there is nothing wrong with this.
If this is someones goal is to do a Bar Muscle Up then why would you strongly suggest them not doing it? Just crushing peoples dreams are ya? Sad.
@@hattiekanyo actually, on the second thought, if someone wants to do this stuff, they can. I don't think someone will injure himself. I just feel sad, because it takes years of hard work, studying, dieting, sleeping and other things to master muscle ups and do 21of them in a row (I saw you writing that you did it), but there are CrossFit people, spending 3-6 months to do 21 "muscle ups" and claiming that they did it. This devaluates this exercise. But you are right, and thank you for calling me out. Check the original comment.)
Crossfit imagine
and then next??? xD we flex our elbows?
XDDDD
Yep, figured it out after swinging like a monkey for a while 😂😂😂
lol
cero cero cero cero
That kipping is giving me the biggest fucking headache.
then.. don't... watch?? 🤷♀️
@@hattiekanyo how am i not supposed to when garbage like this pops up on its own. I can't predict what the algorithm is going to give to me. Stupidest advice i've ever read tbh
Just learn the muscle up with strict form from the off, if you need to kip and swing your either A) not strong enough or B) wrong technique, no need for this fish out of water approach....swear crossfit ruin everything
I encourage all my athletes to learn the strict movement first, in Muscle Ups anddddd everything else from Pull Ups to Handstand Push Ups. It's definitely an important part of functional fitness. IN SAYING THAT - if an athletes goal is to compete in CrossFit then they will indeed need to learn the kipping movements. Thanks for your concern though. :)
I like the part where she actually did the muscle up 🤡
Lol good thing this isn't a muscle up video, just an exercise to help people get one hehe
So where is the muscle up 🤔
This is just the 'Approach' practice to the Muscle Up. It's a big component in getting a Bar Muscle Up! :)
So CrossFit aims to not work any muscles, just unnecessarily load your joints, and tendons huh ?
Nope that is completely wrong. We bodybuild, weightlift and do all the necessary exercises for building strength. BUT we also do things like kipping and use momentum (especially athletes) because we are usually competing or doing it for time. This is strictly for people who are wanting to compete in CrossFit but the prerequisites are ALWAYS to build strength FIRST before learning any kipping movement. :)
@@hattiekanyo and what exactly keeps CrossFit competitions from comparing good form? Why promote techniques that make it easier for athletes to injure themselves
I understand where you are coming from.. thinking that only strict movements are "good form" but like I said, the prerequisites are ALWAYS building strength, THEN learning good form with the kipping movements. Believe it or not but there are good ways of kipping and if you learn to move your body in the right way you won't injure yourself.@@KanekiKen-lm1dl
And….you forgot to do the HARDEST part 🤷
I was a gymnast, my eyes bleeding
Awe, I am super sorry to hear about your eyes, you should probably see a doctor about that. And congratulations about being a gymnast, you should know then that your gymnastics and CrossFit gymnastics are very different. :)
@@hattiekanyoit just looks bad and feels like your back will have some problems in a few years
I have been doing it for 7 years, still no back problems. Thanks for your concern :) @@theape8462
Just use your hands , don't dance around...
But I like to dance around ;)
Master pull-ups 😐
Imagine thinking top crossfit athletes can't do strict pull ups. Clown
@@username-kn3oh CrossFit doesn’t require any athleticism…….. just momentum😭😭😭😐😐😐
@@brandonbrashier4456 oh okay. You think your fitter than the top crossfit athletes?
@@username-kn3oh I’m pretty fit bro😅, I bet you can even do 10 pull-ups yet🤣😵💫
@@username-kn3oh can’t
No rep
You are 100% right. There is no rep here, just a drill to help someone get a rep some day. ;)
@@hattiekanyo a Muscle Up with so much swing is not a Muscle Up
The word “arch” should never be associated with pull-ups 👎
For Kipping movements it should be. Strict are always best, I agree with that, but for people competing in CrossFit the ARCH is actually super important in a lot of the kipping movements.
@@hattiekanyo Ight my bad

Did you poop your pants doing CrossFit? That sucks man!
