A gear pump, especially a small one like this requires very tight tolerance and smooth surfaces to reduce internal leaking if you want high pressure. But for a low pressure application, or just a fun project I think this was very nice and clever.
Absolutely correct . Thank u 🙏❤️
you can always sand it
@@typebin tolerances are already too loose. Sanding would just make it worse.
@@typebin Nope. A real gear pump of this size would have likely had every component precision ground to finished tolerances of less than half a hairs width.
@@illbeyourmonster3591 Totally right. I design and make these suckers for a living and we are talking 10 microns of clearance in most places.
As a person with tool-making experience I can see this person does not have the proper knowledge about best practices in machining (i would call them sub-par) but his tenacity, endurance and calmness gets him to the goal.
The most correct comment... 👌👌🙂❤️
That is pretty cool. My one bit of advice if you want to make higher precision stuff is to know that threatds are not too accurate for locating the centre of holes. It is better to use dowel pins or some sort of expanding mandrill
Very nice work. I would like to see you hook up a pressure gauge to the pump to show us how much psi it puts out when you dead head the pump.
Thank you very much, sure ❤️
yeah please mesure pressure
Thanks for the video! I have a very well equipped shop and sometimes forget what can be done with a little ingenuity!!!👍😸
Aqui BRASIL.👍
Wow! You're proof that where there's a will, there's a way! Brilliant job! You didn't let anything stop you! Genius! 🙂
Thanks 🙏😊🙏
Where there is a wall there is a way around it.
That was a great demo to convey the basics of a hydraulic pump. From scrap steel to a useful pump, awesome. Thanks for sharing.
you're welcome ❤️🙏
I designed and resin 3D printed pump even little bit smaller than that and it works beautifully. I had only 4bar gauge and it topped that pretty quicly. Even did 24hour sontinious run and didnt brake. was fun project. Allso good job on yours!
Can you share the stl?
@@francescopulice9414 Not sure if i still have the stl. It is for resin printer and requires some hardware, but i will take a look when i am home. If i find it i will upload it to thingiverse with list of hardware and send a link.
For all who want to build something like this. NEVER hold small objects with your hands when drilling them !!!!!! ALWAYS clamp them down, your hands are precious precision instruments not dumb clamps !
I know how to like, subscribe, and get notifications. I usually close the vid when I see that animation. This was an interesting project so I kept watching. I could do without the constant reminders.
Oh right ، excuse me sir Thanks a lot ❤️🙏
This can be a awesome thing if only some companies mass produce hobby products like these. Fine surface qualities and tight tolerances can be achieved via hard sintered metal internal internals. It could build considerable amount of pressure. Rerspect to video, i was thinking some guy trying to build something fun with scrap but it turned out quite quality piece in the end. Check out the last seconds of the video, you can clearly see electric motor suffers and rpm decreases, this shows that internal leakage of the pump is quite low.
Bravo pour ce travail minutieux et précis. Quel plaisir de vous voir travailler. 👍
So many experts here, CA glue to temporarily fix position, I learnt something today. Off centre lathes the block with a 3 jaw chuck 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼, why I didn’t think of that?? You really knows how to use your tools my friend 👍
🙏🥰
OUTSTANDING ! No 3D Printing required !
ha🤣
Sticking your finger in a rotating bore of similar dimensions, especially with sand paper, is a sure way of having the flesh ripped off the bone or finger tip being twisted round and round.
Absolutely correct ، Thanks for the point 🙏
Love the unusual fixturing! Well done!
❤️🙏
Such a great idea for work holding on the lathe!
❤️
That's a nice little build. I made a model excavator arm out of syringes as a fun project, this could be the upgrade. What pressure does it create if you cap and dead head the pump?
This pump needs a gearbox for more power ❤️
@@metallantik thanks for the reply, I'm guessing your next project is creating the gearbox 😁
Id love to get my hands on one of these for a prototype Im working on..
Classy work, nice machines, great skills, I'm jealous.
Thank u 🙏❤️😊
I have all the tools you used here, but I DONT have the skills you displayed here. Hats off to you bro and a fine build !!
Thanks a lot dear ❤️🙏🙂
Thanks a lot ❤️🙏
Impressive work on this mini hydraulic pump! While it may not meet the requirements for high-pressure applications due to tolerances and surface smoothness, it's still a clever and enjoyable project. I'm curious to see how it could be adapted for low-pressure tasks or serve as a learning tool. Keep up the great work! 💪🔧🔩
How much pressure (psi) is generated with this pump
Careful and punctual work. I like it. Thank you.
"At home?" you must have an awesome home with all those machine tools!
😅🙏
Thankyou very much sir, Till Now i do not know about hydraulic. But you have taught the good concept. Once again thanks
Thank u so much dear 🙏❤️🙂
Why do you spray over the parts after gluing and what is the spray? Good video, thanks.
you know if you put an electric motor on that, with a closed loop hydrolic..that s some thing for the tool box... i like...good job...
Thanks a lot 🙏❤️
Should try a Lexan cover!!! It'd be neat to see it live! Great video!!!
👌🙏
Yes
Top show perfeito o trabalho 👏👏👏🤝👍💖🇧🇷🇧🇷🇨🇮
Master craftsman. No doubt.
Thanks a lot 🙏❤️
Wow, props you cut through that block with a hand saw! I bet that took a while!
Good work as usual. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Thanks a lot ❤️🙏
Working on one about three size for fuel injection pump- very cool
Tnx ❤️🙏
Great project! It like your style man 😁
Thanks a lot ❤️😊🙏
Just when I was thinking about how to filter the oil in my lathe & mill to try and save money. It’s so expensive I can’t afford it. Thanks 😮
you're welcome . Use Wellendichtring instead of O-ring ❤️
🙏❤️🙇
That's amazing perfect keeps on working you've inspired me
❤️
Very good job, can you share drawings in order to replicate the work?
Thanks a lot , In the future for sure ❤️🙏
Excellent job, Impressed !
Thank u so much 🙏❤️
Nice info, thank you for sharing it :)
Fantastic video and beautifully made!, liked and subscribed I would be interested to see it connected to a gauge to see how much pressure it can develop...
Thanks a lot .For more power, use a powerful gearbox ❤️
Great Lilliputian Project! Amazing workmaship.👍

Cool pump! I didn't think gears could pump liquids🤓
👌
Nearly every oil pump on every car is very like this. VW Beetle on the 1950’s and 60’s used this same method except the oil was scavenged from behind the gear.
Magnífico trabalho.
🙏
Nice job, did you measure how much pressure can you reach?
I have to use a gearbox so it depends on the power of the gearbox
BEAUTIFULL, Magnifique! THx for inspiring me; merci, ça m'inspire.
❤️
Unique😍👌
I would NEVER use silicone on any oil pump cover. controlling the amount of goop is critical to prevent it from going into the gear chamber. I have had zero success with it also in terms of longevity . May I suggest getting a piece of thick glass, meaning at least double the thickness of window glass (get some other kind due to waviness in window glass), and tape a sheet of a good quality 400 or 600 grit sandpaper to it, such as 3M or Norton, etc. Hold the part with the mating surface against the grit and hand mill the surface for an almost 100% flat surface that won't leak. I have done this to oil pumps when restoring engine for cars that were being restored where I used to work. We did cars that you just cannot find the parts and must become creative with making things work. You would be surprised of new parts that have imprecise fits that show up when using the sandpaper and glass surface. If you have a machinists surface plate, you could tape the sandpaper to it but it all depends on what surface plate is used for and how it is cared for. Just clean the surface completely when done. BTW, if done correctly, the 2 finished surfaces will not leak. Cool project and it gives me ideas. Thanks.
basically lapping the surfaces. You can get some insane adhesion if the surfaces are lapped smooth enough
You made good points ، thanks a lot ❤️🙏
@@kasuraga to the point where the mating surfaces wring together very much the same as precision gauge blocks do (Johansen slip gauges)
Would granite countertop work instead of glass? Marble? Quartz?
@@TheRainHarvester anything flat and hard will work. I wouldn't do it on your counter top, but an old broken piece of granite countertop scrap wood work a treat. The grit and removed material from the sanding process could scratch the counter
Complimenti per la tua bravura
Thank u so much ❤️🙏
Really nice! And that actuator you are using in the very end, is it also self made, or bought? If bought, can you share where? P.S. Aha, I found the video. 🙂
Thanks a lot ❤️ A 12V DC motor, but I need to change it to a gear motor for more power
There's no actuator being used in that project. He is simply changing the polarity of the motor in relation to the battery power supply to change the direction of the ram motion.
@@wawerukamau1260 by 'actuator' he meant the hydraulic ram and cylinder not the motor.
@@howardosborne8647 you are probably right. Thanks
@@wawerukamau1260 the hydraulic cylinder IS an actuator by definition, so is the motor.
Amazing, I run a lathe but I dont have smal stools as you, I would like to make one pump for me too
Wow thats impressive!
Thanks a lot ❤️🙏
Neat pump. I wonder how it would compare to a 3D printed plastic pump for longevity.
❤️👌
Number one 😍👌🏻
Nice job, excellent working. 😊
Thanks a lot 🙏❤️
The amount of times your like a sub pop up flashes is really distracting and off-putting
That's right, I need to couple a gearbox
@@metallantik not sure if that's what he asked for
😭😭😭
@@metallantik I’m definitely not subscribing
Dude it pops up like, what, 3? 4 times in the vid? And its small and mostly out of the way. Chill out
👌 This pump needs a gearbox for more power
Thank you FOR good idea 😊
you're welcome ❤️🙏
very cool👍
Thanks ❤️
¡Excelente1 GRACIAS.

Muito bom!🤩

Well its a cute project and a learning experience. I would like to see the psi Guage results.
Thank u so much ❤️🙂🙏

👌🙏 yeah , thanks
👍👍 Beau travail Bravo !
❤️🙏
Very good! Excelent!
Nice project, nice work. What are the chances of finding those gears just laying around?
Good job ! You need to measure pump maximum output pressure )
Tnx 🙏❤️
Lookz like true ork tech xD

Such love and care 💕
Vielen dank ❤️🙏
amazing work thanks
Thank u so much
It's amazing skills 😇🤗
The gap between the gears and the walls of the pump is very large
👌🙏
Sincere effort
🙏
COOL!
Very, very good!!. Thnak you for share it!!
Your wellcome ❤️
Hi, really nice video! Where did you find the hydraulic cylinder? I am searching for this scale but cannot find one
Thank you, I made this hydraulic cylinder myself .The video link is in the description section 🙏
Excellent making
Thanks a lot
AWESOME....
Of course , thank u ❤️🙏
Water pressure test ❤❤❤
🙏❤️
I need water pressure pump .🇮🇳 Gujarat
@@metallantik Hello, can I contact you about a project I have?
Amazing. Could you tell us its weight, please?
I like it, very nice project!
That was awesome 🙂
Instead of the third drill and tap why not use the bridgeport? (Just curious)
amazing❤🎉
I guess it would have been cooler if you machined the gears too it would have been cooler but still pretty cool
Thanks ❤️🙏
There is something different abut the shape of pump gears when used on a gear pump. I have noticed that they will not separate from one another if pulled straight out.
👌👌🙏❤️
Nice work man 🙂🙂
❤️🙏
Does anything prevent the cylinder from pushing back of not powered? How is that achieved on backhoes?
This work was only to provide an idea of the carving . I agree that it is not very principled 🙏❤️
It's valves that control the cylinders on machines, the pump runs all the time and the valves control the flow of the oil. It won't push back because the valve will have some non return system in it.
Wow great work sir.👊👌💗
