That was very informative. I've found I'm not comfortable working with those large ICs yet in the manner you soldered them in (using hot air and trying to center the IC). I clean the pads, apply flux, center the IC and tack one corner pin. If all looks aligned , I tack the other three corners and then finish off the inner pins. I'll try your way on a practice board. Thanks Alex and have a peaceful weekend. p.s. Pad strips #2 still out of stock 😂
😂😂 yeah, there is few of us around who like to complicate things ( talking about what the customer wrote). There is an opinion if it seems too simple than it's probably wrong. 🤷♂️ But, you know, there are a lot of different folks out there. Amazing work Alex!
Greetings to you from Morocco and thank you for all the efforts you are making to inform us
You know what's sad? I could be wrong but I believe the costumer watched a video on data recovery and he misunderstood this 128-pin CPU with the 8-pin BIOS. When the old PCB is dead people will just bring the BIOS into the new PCB so it is able to read your hard disk properly and you recover the data. Again, I could be wrong but if that is the case he will be disappointed with the result (but that is his fault, he asked for it). That was quite an unusual request, I don't understand exactly why someone would swap CPUs between two Hard Disks specifically. 😂
Perfecto Job Needed a Mini Pen right now
Good job mate 👍
Fantastic job!!
thanks again for the great video. you are good teacher.
Hello from Ivory Coast ( Côte d'Ivoire). 👍
Nice job
It's literally the outro that gets me😊
At 8:50 - the soldering tip after the NF-mini looks really rounded. Would that be a standard tip on a hobby soldering iron, like the Hakko 888? (just trying to understand comparison)
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
The customer is always right aslong as the can pay just charge for the work done even if it does make sense to swap a broken chip to board that won't work after the working component was swapped out
Love your content, I wish I could buy your stuff but I’m in UK and the delivery cost will be too much
My mind was fried just reading the explanation. It's read like a political statement.
good
I'm guessing the flash info is mask rom inside the cpu and the pcb is dead prob fried motor chip so this method is the only option for data recovery for the client?
brother you are expert in microsoldering , i solder Super IO and break 64pins of 128pins😬🤤😂
How much HEAT and AIR do you set to remove chips?
Hi Alex. How did you go with those palm trees ??
I trimmed a lot of branches but still have more to go. I'll continue on the next should workout day. Besides, the green garbage bins are full and won't fit anymore until they are cleaned out.
Du bist und bleibst einfach der absolute HAMMER auf deinem Gebiet. Ein GOTT
I have an optimus prime Robosen it's not charging I think it'd be a cool video for you to fix it it's number 26 so I don't want to send it off because they may not send mine back it being such a low number production I would like to keep it
There were still a couple of small bridges left on the chip when you first pulled out the mini pen...
the first side i saw them too...
All cleared out. A customer came in and i didn't realize record was not on when I continued. I went over all the pins and checked one by one.
Just curious, why you don’t use denatured instead of 99%? Technically 99% still has water. Just picking gnits. 😁
@@georgenicholas5210is it better for removing flux
@@georgenicholas5210 I just looked it up. Denatured alcohol has other additives.
Sounds like chips doner board to new board it's just more a matter of fact in the manner of text
👍👍👌👌
wierd just this week i blew the motherboard on a 3.5 hdd 4tb drive with all my files im hoping a motherboard swop will resolve and not this level of repair :)
wow
Hi Alex I am number hundred like this
Mate are you from Chechenya?
can anybody tell me what is the point of interchanging those chips?
It's a Marvell IC controller. Maybe there's a corrupted BIOS on the board "to be repaired" and that spare can revive the whole HDD.
Wouldn't it be easier to just replace the board and bios? I don't understand why this is done
Doesn't the BIOS chip on the HDD PCB need to be swapped and not the CPU chip? I could be wrong.
Yeah that was my guess, i believe the costumer watched a video on data recovery and he misunderstood what should be done. I really don't see a scenario where 128-pin CPU swap between two Hard Disks is needed, i found it to be a very weird request (specially due to the fact that he asks for a swap instead of a replacement), which makes me think he is not familiar with data recovery... 😂😂😂 Well, in the end if it doesn't work it will be his fault since he asked for that CPU swap specifically, he can't blame NorthridgeFix.
I swap 100-pin microprocessors every once in a while.
i used to have a NASA soldering cert, so flux is my friend so i love seeing such beautiful soldering
Chip from donor board swapped onto "repair board."
no, I think chip from repaired board swapped to donor board, cause the donor board is good (supposedly) but i don't know, i'm just guessing
First ❤
