    • @@MadScientistBBQ Not to take away from the underrated comment... ;-) I'm 6' 2" and went from 285lbs down to 210 in 7 months on carnivore. I'm 48 and I'm in better health and shape than I was at 28. I've never had better blood test results either! You technically wouldn't have to sacrifice that much on the BBQ side of things, except sugary sauces and rubs, which is super doable. There is a lot of information out there, notably from doctors like Ken Berry and Shawn Baker. Please consider it - it might be the right answer for you and we want you healthy! The results can be staggering. Once you reach your ideal weight, you could then decide to stay on it or retransition into some kind of maintenance regime of your choice. There is A LOT of super positive testimony out there besides mine.

    • The best way to lose the weight is the same way you gained it…low and slow. 0.5% - 1% of body weight per week. If you go faster, your appetite will catch up and you’ll gain it right back.

      @Flipflop437@Flipflop4374 ай бұрын
    • @@Flipflop437 Is that how you did it? I've been at my current weight for 18 months, so I doubt my appetite will catch up to me at this point. I know plenty of people who have been on carnivore for years and have maintained exceptional health and lean muscle mass. Seems to me that the low and slow approach is slow torture because you're always one step away from crashing back into bad habits. It took me 3 weeks to get fat-adapted on carnivore, and from that point, I could be surrounded by carbs and sugar and couldn't care less. It's not a struggle any more. There are many approaches to losing weight, but I'm skeptical of anyone claiming they know the "best" way. I can only suggest what I know worked for me and a growing number of people, while realizing other people's mileage may vary.

  • This is great! I finally decided to do something about my health for the first time in my life last April. I’m 5’6” and I was 278lbs. I started tracking calories, made better food decisions, only drank water, and started lifting. I dropped down to 230lbs in only 4 months. I’ve gained some of that back over the holidays but I’m ready to get back into the swing of things again. My goal is to be under 200 with an overall goal of being 180. I’ll then evaluate how 180 feels on me then I’ll see if I want to lose more or just stay at a “healthy” 180.

Just to give you a little bit of info, every doctor I have ever had a conversation with about weight loss, whether an orthopedic doctor, general practitioner etc., weight loss is basic math, calories in vs. calories out. I have yet to master that concept. My problem is calories out. I wish you all the best in your endevores.

A lot of people on the carnivore diet lose a lot of weight, but I've heard it's a tough life. Is that direct heat box a take-off or modification to the Chud Box? Bradley has something similar that I've seen him use that he fabricated and I know you've done some collaboration with him.

  • Hey Jeremy, a few years ago I stepped on the scale and weighed right around 600lbs. I actually started learning to cook and diving deep into technique and quite honestly, I obsessed a little bit about it. But long story short, I’ve lost 160lbs and it was almost completely because I learned to cook. That includes smoking food, grilling, bbqing, sous vide and every technique known to man. I have about that much more weight to lose but it’s a journey. I was able to quit most of my medications after losing the weight. I could lose weight a lot faster but I still eat things I enjoy, just in moderation. Your channel was one of the many resources I used to learn to cook. You’re right up the road from me. I’m in bourbon country of Bardstown KY and I believe you’re in Louisville. I’ve learned that to really change your eating habits, you have to make small changes to your lifestyle. For me, it was continuing to have a relationship with food but changing the dynamic. I also shoot basketball and weight train. You’ve got this man! Also, I started a KZhead journey and I do a little of everything from bbqing to helping people eat healthy. Long time fan here!

  • It’s not just about dieting. Dieting implies a beginning and end. Life style changes and fitting in what you love (BBQ) into your lifestyle while maintaining a healthy weight, is the key to success. Good luck dude.

  • For me it's all about avoiding sugar which is easier said than done. BBQ fits in just fine as long as I'm not using sugary rubs, sugary sauces, sugary sides. Fat and protein are what your body needs. It was shocking to me to learn you can eat as much meat as you want cause it activates satiety hormones telling you you're full whereas sugary foods trigger hunger hormones that make you eat more. Avoiding sugar also great for dental health. Watching your channel has taught me so much and helped me enjoy preparing the meats that are so good for me. You rock Jeremy!

  • I’m glad to see you’re doing something about it while you can Jeremy. I’m in my 50’s and had two 100% clogged arteries and a heart attack. Now have a stent and a singular bypass. It’s the stress and simple carbs. Get rid of the foods high on the glycemic index and eat some healthy fats, avocado, wild caught salmon, shrimp, etc. Chuck the breads, pies, ice cream, etc. Good luck!

  • You’re a cool dude, Jeremy. I’m 23 and was 260 pounds. I sit at 185 now after being on low-carb for one year. It’s actually how I found your channel; I wanted to learn how to cook lots of meat on keto and carnivore.😂

  • I lost 125lbs eating mostly meat (without sugar or breading) on keto. The meat is for sure not the issue. For me getting rid of all carbs/sugars/starches made the need for will power go away. I no longer wanted the other stuff. My meals kept me full for hours after eating. You got this. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing. Health should be everyone’s top priority in my opinion. Cheers.

  • I was gonna comment a while back when I noticed that your ears disappeared, but I didn't want to hurt any feelings. I dropped from 285 to 162, then got up to a jacked 185 and looked better than ever - in my early 40's. 2 years later I've sadly poofed up to 210 (got engaged, got off the dating scene, got a bit sloppy with my diet) and I'm tightening up the diet as of yesterday. I'm not looking to compete with anyone, but I'm gonna get the job done and I look forward to seeing Jeremy's ears again.
