Coastal Foraging - Foraging shellfish from the coastline and how to cook on the beach - Clams, Scallops, Cockles and Crab.
- I didn’t think that this would need to be said, as I hoped most folks would have enough common sense to realise for themselves. My wife and I shared the cooking, I did not force my wife to cook because I am some chauvinistic beast. We shared it because we share things. Including the food. My son did not eat any because he did not want any. As you will hear in the video, our battery was dying so we quickly closed and signed off, my wife holding the camera. Then we sat and ate. I did not eat it all myself and deny my wife food. The fact people would even think that blows my mind. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤯
Amazing vid mate. Don't get how people could think that you wouldn't share any to your wife and kid...
Just dont mind them...anyways you are the one who picks those shells 😊 I love shells and this vid 💖...thats why i made it here..😊
People are so stupid it's funny. They also seem to forget that things happen when the camera is off. I dont understand this thinking that if it's not on film it didnt happen.
@@BeautyMommysUnite no truer words have been said.
Joyce Azarcon - Me either? If anyone believes that if my wife wanted something, that she wouldn’t get it. I question if they are married. 😆
I have no idea why this was in my recommended but I am glad it was.
DivineL!ght - Well welcome to the channel anyway. It doesn’t matter how you got here, you’re here and that’s the main thing. 😊👍🏻🎣🦀🐟🐚
it feels like my dad is taking me scavenging and I’ve never had a dad so this is kinda what I need

@@abdieldeleon6091 Single mothers are the bane and scourge of civilization. Bunch of selfish insufferable cunts.
@@asparrow9876 Woah, bit of an over-emotional and irrational response there. Who hurt you? Would you like a tissue and a safe space to cry in?
I gotta say, I'm born and raised in a land-locked state and I'm not into eating seafood of any kind but there's something so peaceful about watching these foraging videos. Maybe it's the sound, the environment or the simplicity of combing the shores but I find these videos incredibly relaxing and interesting. :) Well done.
I absolutely get what you're saying Sarah, I have been telling people for years. You don't necessarily have to want to eat these things to find it interesting where they come from. Best wishes and stay safe. 😊
@@TheFishLocker you as well 😊
Try mussels in white wine. Or tomato sugo. Yum!
If you're still reading comments, I just want to say two things. First, I do appreciate the subtitles and all the extra info and little jokes in them! Also I appreciate this sharing of traditional knowledge in a world where such things so easily slip away.
I am still doing my best to respond to every comment but it just takes me a while. Thank you. I have manually done the subtitles on a few videos so there are a few Easter eggs in them. We are simply sharing what we know and love doing. Have a great day and take care. 😊
clam: clap clap guy: so you have chosen death
- Haha. Is that from a film or something because I had someone comment that exact same thing a while ago?
@@TheFishLocker I think they're referring to a line by the late Christopher Lee in The Lord of the Rings.
Von Keirut - That is actually very likely now I think of the line. That has been something that has bugged me for a while. Good work 😉👍🏻

- That is what I love to hear Alireza, so many people didn't know this was their thing but it can be so interesting can't it. We love it!! Welcome to our channel, I hope you find the rest of our content interesting. We have a few great foraging videos where we find crabs and lobsters. :D
Me tooo. So good!
I learned something from this video - no music, no special effects, just a simple sharing of knowledge. Thank you.
That is what you will find in all of our videos. Simple honest and original content sharing what we know and love doing. 😊
Learned so much from the video. Now I'm craving seafood, I love seafood! Thank you!
I am glad you found the video helpful and interesting
There is something so undeniably therapeutic about watching a guy just hang around a beach collecting crustaceans and mollusks... he is literally just vibing
- The happiest people, are the ones who can find joy in the small things in life. Spending time on the shore with my family is my absolute joy. And being able to share our passion with all of you just makes it all the sweater. Best wishes and have a great day. :D
StrawberryDucky right? I found myself watching this whole video. It was just quiet, calming and simple yet so interesting. I think it just gave me a break from social media drama.
This is so great. Dude grabs a clam, scallop, or crab and he says some British like "this here's a slicky slippit, here we have ourselves a slack knacker, a hobble dippy drop, and a couple doopy dob globs."
neilgoesPro - This comment actually made me laugh out loud. Twice. That’s like something from the BFG. 😆😊👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker I love your videos. Informative and as I said, the MOST BRITISH I've ever heard, and I once spent 3 months living in Southampton.
It's almost comforting to see humans just doing human things. Foraging and collecting, preparing food and sharing with your family, teaching valuable skills to the younger generations...this is what being a human's about. Edit: I wanna correct my words. I think the idea conveyed is that humans are a lot of things, which is what makes us the top of our food chain, but I feel like we've been missing these simple things that used to carry us and our generations which makes us desire them more. Living inside and only concerning yourself with material things makes you miss the freedom of the wild, but living a life where survival is the only goal makes humans yearn for more. A balance between our roots and the future would bring us peace, I think.
I agree. These are skills passed down by generations. Sadly these are skills that you cannot learn and they do not teach in a classroom
i like how respectful he is during the vid was reading some comments and i also want to point how he tries to like and/or reply to everyones comment. Great vid
“Colonel, im trying to hide in the sand, but I’m dummy thicc and the clap of my shells keeps alerting the forager”
I was just thinking of that. Lol
- Its like a little round of applause for finding a hidden treasure. :)
@@TheFishLocker great analogy!
@@TheFishLocker love it!
absolutely love that instead of just tossing the ones he doesn't want down on the ground, he kindly sets it back where he found it and covers it back up. that's respect for the food you eat and the place it came from.
- Thank you Jay, and I am so glad to hear you share our philosophy on respecting nature. Why wouldn't you want to show respect to the natural world? Hopefully that message transfers across to people watching the video. ;) Best wishes to you and your family Jay and have a great day. :)

I'm now hooked on your videos. 😊
It's the law.
i like that u left the little clam alone
As others have said, I don't know how this turned up. Sometimes KZhead just throws something different at you. I found it quite delightful. Watching a family outing combined with learning things. I used to live on the West coast of Canada and this really made me miss it, even though the beach was quite rocky where I lived. Those crazy people accusing you of "making your wife cook" and not sharing the food need to re-evaluate their life LOL I figured that your wife got some, but thought maybe the lad wasn't fond of seafood. Many of us don't acquire a taste for it till we get older. PS I don't like oysters, either. Unless they are smoked. Always a couple of tins in my pantry.
Thank you Judy for both your comment and for applying logic to the pinned comment. haha. You are right. James didn't enjoy seafood at that age. I do not mind how people find us, simply that they enjoy their time with us. Take care and have a lovely day. 😊
in case your wondering, the way he killed the crab was very humane, basically what happened was he smashed the crab hard enough in the head it got paralyzed so it cannot move or feel anything, then when he tore the bottom off, the brain did not come with killing it near instantly
- I am glad that you realized that from the video. A lot of people cannot put 2 and 2 together. :)
Thank you I was looking for a comment like this id rather someone do this than boiling it alive
@@amberpowers6601 its wayy better for the crab involved, and its just as easy

I love how humane you are about it. Not like these fools that brute force and take everything regardless of size. You give the little fellas time to grow true fisherman/clam digger
right, because its the americans taking everything and not caring about the environment, totally not the entirety of south east asia. Ok man
bull fucking shit, we're not the ones sending millions upon millions of tons of trash into the pacific. It's absolutely the couple thousand americans that go to thailand every year that are responsible for it. Don't be salty because you live in a shit hole

i cannot fathom finding an entire beautiful GIANT crab like that just. on the beach. and liftin it up and walking away to eat it. that's amazing, you really live in a fantastic place
What the video doesn’t really show is the amount of ground I had to cover to find that crab. 😉🦀
I liked that he covered up the ones he didn't take, allowing them to live longer lives in an already harsh world. Good job on that!
- Thank you and I am glad you share our philosophy. Never take more that you nee and always treat the natural world with respect and appreciation. :)
I like that you’re so knowledgeable about the area you’re walking in. It really takes the video up levels above if you were to just walk and pick up clams with no sound or commentary

You should not even worry about what people think. You are using your time, energy and resources for our benefit. Anyone that has anything negative to say or are making assumptions should move on and don't watch. I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I grew up and live on Long Island, New York which is surrounded by water. This reminds me so much of my younger days when I would walk down the street to the Great South Bay and go crabbing for Blue Claw Crabs, clamming, fishing, etc. You can't live on Long Island without having an affinity for the water and the sustenance it provides. Loved the way you cooked your seafood right there by the ocean. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Thank you and welcome to our channel if I haven't welcomed you already. I did this when I was a lad with my siblings and it has been great being able to teach my son about it all. Best wishes to you and your family and have a great day. 😊
No idea why KZhead recommended this, but I'm glad it did! I watched the whole thing and now feel like going to the beach this weekend.
