That's pretty much a benefit for the Concorde. If you don't have any passengers, and low fuel, but enough to get to the nearest airport, the Concorde can fly all the way there with one engine running, without a problem at all. Keep up the good work.

A DC-10 had been repaired badly where a piece of titanium fell off and was left on the runway as the Concorde ran it over, blowing a tire and hitting the fuel tank. Fun fact: fuel was more than half of the weight of the fully loaded jet.

I read that the Pepsi Concorde was only ever allowed to fly up to Mach 2.02 for 20 minutes per flight. I think this was due to the heat dissipation the OG white paint provided. Can't remember exactly but it had some effect on its capability.

Yes the White paint reflected the Sun much better. Due to the Blue paint the engine overheated

@@b.815 Not exactly. The metal structure of the plane expands due to the heat created by the friction of the air at supersonic speeds and as well by the sun. The white paint was actually more reflective than typical paint used in aviation due to it's capabillity to radiate more heat away from the aircraft. The blue paint obviously was a lot worse at reflecting the heat. So given that the heat would be a lot higher than normal at the normal cruising speed of mach 2.04 it could cause the metal structure of the plane to expand even more than it was intended and over time could have caused early metal fatigue. Also the wings were kept in white due to fuel temperature concerns. The fuel absorbs the heat from the airplane structure and also cools the engines when injected before combustion. Painting the wings in blue probably would have resulted in higher combustion and exhaust gas temperatures and might have created an engine overheating problem if they were allowed to paint the wings in blue aswell. To prevent that from happening Aerospatiale only allowed to paint the fuselage and advised Air France these speed limitations.

In real life concorde could maintain flight with a single engine on contingency power towards the end of a flight, enough to make it to an airport if already decently close. Also the windows were so small because the aircraft could actually maintain cabin pressure of 8000 ft with two windows BLOWN OUT at 50000 feet. It was a marvel of engineering

The Concord should have a feature within the cockpit controls that allows an afterburner that will turn up the thrust and additional like 20% or so per each engine. It's called Reheat function and it's below thrust levers. But they do have a timer that will shut them off automatically if you run them too long I believe.
