  • MC Ren told this very story in an interview in the mid 90's. I couldn't believe that the guy that rapped on Boyz In The Hood was actually a very shy dude that couldn't really rap all that great. This is an early example of Dre's genius. E did not want to do the vocal, but Dre could hear that Eazy had a distinct voice that could propel the track. Dr. Dre had to painstakingly punch in every verse one by one for the entire song and coach Eazy through the process. How Dr. Dre learned such patience and studio competence at such a young age is mind boggling. If you listen real close to the original record, you can hear the subtle noises of each punch in.

  • 1988 and working a boring ass office job but my boss did let me listen to music while I worked. KUSF was an alternative community radio station and they had a DJ who had a weekly show where he'd play rap that wasn't getting top-40 air play. I'm listening when he starts talking about a new rapper called Eazy-E then he spins EZ Duz it. I was like what the hell is this. It was so fresh and different. I went out and bought the extended play album. Didn't realize at the time that a revolution was starting.

  • Looking at this as an art perspective, This scene signifies the bond N.W.A has for one another. What I mean is it's showing that each one will have each other's backs no matter what the situation is. It's honestly a cool way to show character development and that brotherly bond to make people watching this actually cope with the characters. And I think so many people do get emotionally attached to the characters because of the real life people it's betraying, like Eazy E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, exc... So these scenes may look cool and be badass but there's so much more depth to the narrative and its crazy to think about foreal.

    @mixstamike@mixstamike3 жыл бұрын
    • *portraying. Not betraying. *looking at this through an artistic perspective. Not “as an art perspective” I don’t agree that their bond is shown as anything special just because they defended their stupid home turf and were quickly willing to fight over it like good gang members. There are other scenes which convey their closeness much better. And there’s no development here, it barely shows any changes in their personality yet. Maybe when E starts to rap. It really just shows that Dre was a great producer. I feel like you’re trying too hard to sound like you know what you’re talking about when it comes to storytelling terms. Or maybe I’m way too critical.
