@moggykirby Thank the refs. There were many surprising numbers from Winnipeg’s shocking sweep over Edmonton, but none more utterly outrageous than this one: Connor McDavid drew zero (0) penalties during the four-game series. Zero. Nada. None. Zilch. ZERO. ... The funny thing is this isn’t new. This actually happened last year, too. Four games against Chicago in the play-in round, zero calls. That’s eight straight playoff or playoff-adjacent games where the referees watched McDavid battle through constant abuse and essentially said “suck it up.” This is, of course, The Playoffs, after all. ... This past season McDavid took 1,182 shifts, drawing 29 penalties. That means that, based on the standard set for his play, McDavid had a 2.5 percent chance of drawing a penalty on any given shift this season. Already that seems ridiculously conservative, but again, that’s the standard. McDavid took 121 shifts in these playoffs over four games. Based on a normal distribution, the chances of drawing exactly zero penalties over a four-game series is just five percent. Not impossible, but highly unlikely that it happens by random chance. We can all use our eyes to see that “random chance” and “ignoring it” were the same thing in this series. McDavid had an eight percent chance of earning six or more calls over the series - which he had every single right to earn. ... Combine both playoffs though and here’s what you get: A 0.9 percent chance that McDavid would earn zero penalties drawn over eight playoff games. ... Referees don’t want to decide the game, but by not calling the rule book they do just that by allowing the team without the puck to bend the rules. It creates a different flow at five-on-five that caters to grinders over skill players, bringing the stars down a notch in the interest of fairness. I didn’t turn on the Jets-Oilers series to watch some random no-name defenceman repeatedly hang off McDavid because they couldn’t keep up. If a player can’t stop a player within the confines of the rules they should be penalized for it, not allowed to do it on every single shift because they know for a fact they won’t get called. ... McDavid somehow drawing zero penalties in back-to-back postseasons should be the final straw. The league’s best and brightest player, its most marketable star, allowed to be manhandled against the rules every night and every shift, forced to fight through something he shouldn’t have to. It won’t be as the league continues to willingly make its incompetence an annual headline rather than allow the best the sport has to offer the ability to thrive on the biggest stage. As it stands now, they’re being continuously hooked and hauled on their way to the spotlight.
@expls3 жыл бұрын
@@expls Except McDavid didn't get manhandled or get "hanged off" by the Jets during the playoffs. Demelo and Pionk had his number but they weren't roughing him up, just simply outplaying him defensively. Sure there was hooking, show me a team that wouldn't make that defensive play when McDavid is flying down the ice. All I took from this is that you're heavily biased towards McDavid and think he floats above everyone else when it comes to playoff reffing.

As an Oilers fan, this hurts
@@Habs4Life You asking me? I'm not actually from the USA or Canada I'm from New Zealand and enjoy watching Hockey since the early 2000's
Much appreciated. So tired of broadcasters going on and on about dynamic duo...shut them down and you win. Jets are a very very DEEP team! Bring on the Leafs
As a Jets fan I expected the Oilers to beat us in 5 or 6 games. I'm very impressed how well we played defensively all series. Especially Logan Stanley. We do have some areas to work on in our game to prepare for the second round, but this was a great series to watch.
I love how it was mcdavids give away that led to the game winner too :)
Man! This Connor McRegularSeason kid is insane!
These comments are brutal. Both teams played extremely well. Hockey at its finest! Edmonton has an amazing team, series could have gone either way with so many OTs.
Beautiful assist by McDavid in overtime! Too bad it was to the wrong team...
Congrats Edmonton and Connor McDavid, you just brought yourself into a brand new low
Classic. Once again Edmonton has found a way to embarrass themselves
At least they made the playoffs. First time in 3 years. Not bad for a team with a first line and 3 fourth lines.
Brett Viddal oilers made the playoffs last season
@@tylergodspeed82 Who days progression in the NhL is linear?
@@tylergodspeed82 they got bumped by Chicago in the play-IN.... NOT the playoffs.
So does McDavid get an assist on the OT winner? Asking for a friend.
I don’t think NHL would like to give an assist to McTurnover
@@nunu-ig9bz Why not? They always give him secondary assists when he shouldn't be getting one.
What's shocking is you actually have a friend 😂
@@trevmac8362 lol My Oilers fan friends before the playoffs when I reminded them the regular season is over and doesn't mean anything now. "Just wait until Wednesday" After they lost game one. "Just wait until Friday" After game two "Just wait until Sunday" After game four "Just wait until NEXT YEAR" LOL
and its connor mcdavid who gives up the puck for the winner lol
McDavid has no one to blame but himself for this OT winner. Weak pass to Draisaitl that Pionk picks off and McDevil gets an assist.
As a flames fan this was great
Coilers suck ass LOL
Jets fought to the end. Just an all around team effort that paid off. So proud of you, boys 🤗 let’s get em in the next round. #GoJetsGo
McDavid turnover at the end. He can be pissed at his team mates for their mistakes, but his cost them the game
Nah this is on bear and solely on bear
@@anythingvideos1250 ofc it is u delusional
He did the same nonsense in Game 3, with that turnover that led to the tying goal.
*cost them the series ..and mcdavids body language was brutal every game
@Mohamed Beydoun And a major reason why they lost both games was because of him. So what's the point in scoring all of those goals if you're lazy in every other aspect of the game, and cost your teams critical games?
I just feel bad for Mike Smith
MacDavid got stripped on the final play.... isn’t that ironic?
Same thing yesterday too cost his team both games with turnovers
Don't you think.....it's like rain on your wedding day.... a free ride when you already paid or good advice that you just didn't take 🎶🙃
@@GradeEhCanadian it’s a sign to get the hell outta Canada)))
Who would've thought. It figuuuuuuuures!
Stripped?? He made a half ass play bc hes garbage in the playoffs
what an amazing series by the Jets! If someone had predicted there was going to be a sweep in this series I would have thought it would have been the Oilers winning! I think this is great for Hockey and the City of Winnipeg and they way the Jets won this, I would not be surprised to see the Jets in the finals! mia sententia 🦂👍🥂
Man, I feel so sorry for Smith
McDavid is the Aaron Rodgers of the NHL - all glitz in the regular season and all drub in the post season
Fortunately for ARod, he has a championship ring. McDavid only has *ONE* series win
What a nice pass from McDavid for the series winning goal. Propably some one else mistake. Puljujärvi make one mistake and then he is on the 4 line, because captain said so.
If McDavid did not insist on having his arian cyborg buddy with him all the time Puljujärvi could have become a series contender for additional talent in a new line!
yep terrible leadership
Was watching it at 2:04 am in the morning kyle score the winning goal and the jets sweet the oilers just an amazing series jets deserve to go on just wanted it so much more then the oilers and you can see it.
Jets fans: OMG WE DID IT WE FINALLY DID IT WE FINALLY BEAT THE OILERS Oilers fans: I wish we still had Gretzky Go Jets Go win for Hawerchuk
Bear gives puck up middle and mcdavid shruggs and gasps and complains .....he then goes gives up the game winner in 3ot and shows no emotion and just turns around and skates
McDavid b*tching at teammates on the bench for their mistakes. Louie DeBrusk: "McDavid showing his leadership on the bench" SMH
He got tired of yelling at Puljujarvi so changed it up.
The commentators are in love with McDavid. They never call out his terrible giveaways and terrible defense.
Winnipeg, Carolina and Tampa have the most entertaining teams in the league. One thing in common they share is coaching!
Okay relax. Beating oilers doesn't put Jets in same sentence as canes and bolts. Plus avs Vegas bruins leafs etc exist you know.

damn jets have some snipers
Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers, Stastny, Wheeler. Excellent forwards all-round depth players, something Edmonton needs.
Forget a trade, McDavid is probably contemplating a career change.
His contract doesn’t end until 2027 and he said he wants to stay with Edmonton as long as possible because he believes we can do good things one day. I’m not making that up he said that himself

@@bc1173 it’s not a rule that you can’t say you want a trade is it? If McDavid wanted a trade trust me we would know by now. And the way he was encouraging everyone on the bench the whole game to play and that he was upset after the loss shows that he genuinely wants this team to go far

5:04 McDavid laughing in disgust about his teammates, when he is the one with bad giveaways that decide the games.

Mcdavid with the turnover in triple OT, best player in the league!
Far from the best. Most overrated player in the league...
GGs edmonton you guys did good! You will be better next season
Last Oiler to touch the puck before golf season was Connor. If you wanna win the cup in the summer you need to look at how your contract is going to affect the depth of the team.
Very impressive Jets

The Jets have 🧹the Oilers!! Was so happy with Kyle Connor overtime goal 👏👏👏
Year after year I wonder if a Canadian team will ever win the Stanley Cup again...it's been 28 years. I hope the Jets can bring it home this time, they've got a solid team. Good luck to 'em! -An Oilers fan
Well, one Canadian team will be making into the Semis no matter what. So who knows, maybe the drought will end this year?
It will never happen. The closer a Canadian team comes the worse the officiating fets. The only way that will change is when Canadians quit watching hockey when their team is out.
@@coryjohn4057 That's basically what I do these days. Bettman knows he has the Canadian market down, so why bother when all the money to be made is in the States...
Every announcer doubted the Jets!!!!!!! I wanna hear them now
Mr 105 points on the season turns the puck over for the assist on Kyle Connors goal lmao
Opening line: "For the Jets they're looking to end this round as soon as possible". Game goes to triple OT.
FUN FACT OF THE DAY: The Jets only held the lead during the entire series for a grand total of 19 minutes and 52 seconds.
only need to be ahead at the end.... SWEEP!!!!
Game 2 OT goal was from a McDavid give away. Game 3 OT goal was from a pick pocketed puck from McDavid.
yep but you wont hear anyone on sportsnet or espn mention that
It's amazing but can people finally stop talking about Connor Mcdavid being the best player in the world. He is the best scorer but certainly not the best overall player. If he was the best player he would of won at least 1 game against the Jets. It's another rebuild for Edmonton! So sad. Remember when Wayne went to the LA Kings he did not even have anyone close to help him like Leon Drisidle. When Mcjesus wins a series single handedly i will then maybe change my opinion but until then he is just a fancy scorer not the best overall player.
He's the Best in Video Game Hockey, that's it!

I like how some people are blaming Ethan Bear for the "poor" change but if McDavid rimmed the puck around the boards like he was supposed to instead of that limp wristed effort than the REAL Connor wouldn't have had a break away.
That was as good a time to make the long change as it get's. It's not Bear's fault McDavid gave the puck away on a dinky pass. But it seems McPoutyface is beyond reproach so the blame can't go his direction. SMH

So happy for the Jets. I'm neither a Jets fan or an Oilers hater, so I always cheer for the franchise that hasn't won it the longest and that's definitely the Jets. If my Canucks can't win, then I want the winner to be Winnipeg, Ottawa, Quebec (if they can get a franchise relocated there), Minnesota and San Jose. Also so glad they swept the Oilers for their first and did it after an amazing Connor McDavid season! Haha... you guys shouldn't get Connor McDavid. I wished he and Draisaitl had been successful (individually and team) on the Senators instead. They shut McDavid out 2 games!
Oilers as usual poor goaltending and not much else after McDavid, Drai, Nurse and RNH. Jets have more depth and deserved this series. I also see the Jets winning the North Div.
Lmfao.... "next year.will be our year" said every Oilers fan for the past 30 years 🤣😂
Well it will definitely happen next season.
Last year being curb stomped by the last place Chicago and this year being swept by the Jets. McDavid and Dras deserve more than this. You had some people step up this game but it was too late.
