Session two of this visit and whilst I'm still driving around minding my own business, someone has some other ideas!
The track layout in use this time was the full-length international layout.
I'm a TeamSport Grid Elite member!
My best international layout time going into this session is 57.961 on the old tyres, and a 58.281 on the new tyres!

  • It’s hard to say you did anything wrong there. It does look like you gave him a couple of light taps but that’s what happens with indoor karting. It’s not an excuse to try and pile drive you off the track. People like that can be very annoying especially when they try to squeeze you into a barrier for being faster than them. Some good driving in that session though and some nice overtakes!

    • 2awyliekatrter7977-I have to agree with you simply based off what I saw, And to be fair there is always going to be some contact weather it's indoor or outdoor, weather it be a rub or slight push. I don't get upset about those and most others don't either but if its and individual doing so repeatedly and recklessly that's something else entirely. That's not what happened here, and the #10 driver seemed to lack control of his cart in several turns, when he deliberately try to barrier jinx Rob That is a huge indicator of what kind of driver and person they are so I would seek to pass and put them several carts behind me. Those are the kinds of drivers that will get someone hurt and I want no part of that.

  • The way I see it, a few light taps along the straights is a clear indicator to the one being tapped that they took the wrong line and are slower since someone is exiting with greater speed. That means they ought to allow for you to pass and not deal with being in their way. The guy was sliding through half the turns was never going to be faster than you.

  • Rubbing is racing, as they say. Nothing wrong with your driving at all. First time I've seen one of your videos and it's obvious you're a very good, and very fair driver. A slight bit of rubbing is perfectly normal on an indoor track. However what the other guy did was completely unacceptable. Also kudos to the marshal for de-escalating the situation.

  • Good reaction tbf, heat of the moment then a diplomatic ending. As only occasional karter here I could see myself starting getting into a rage like the other guy did over contact BUT, you have to remember how tight these tracks are and how poorly powered rental karts are. A few little bumps are part and parcel of getting your elbows out and netting passes as the only real tool in the box. If someone bumps me I know the level of bumping them back if a fight for places is on but never becoming a torpedo like that! Rental places could do better in explaining what a good bit of racing is vs turning it into bumper cars. Marshall did his best to let you both carry on, and well done for not just racing up to the back of him and starting round 2!

Almost like targeting you, few of them brake checked you too because you was right behind them. Most people that race have no space awareness and also have no racing knowledge. Letting the faster kart through is just better for both drivers.

As you said no matter the Marshall it would of been a instant return to pits and told of/kicked of that session.

It's one of those, a light tap here or there is fine imo, sometimes it's unavoidable due to you carrying more speed through a corner and you just aren't expecting them to be basically parked on an apex that is flat out or whatever.

He drove like a twat, you did nothing wrong. Apologise my arse.

  • I have to say one thing, though... I like to go go-karting to just have fun and not care about lap times, you know, that's what these establishments are for. If I want to set record lap times I call the venue and ask if it is possible to do that and then I pay to have the track to myself. If I go racing with other people on the track I do not care about setting the fastest time or to compete with them, because I know most of them are just there to have fun with friends or by themselves. In my experience the people with racing gloves on tend to be very entitled and rude when a mistake happens. Not talking about you, though, just my general experience and you are the exception to that. But I just wish more people know that going karting with other people means you can't focus on your fastest lap times or trying to compete with the others.

  • 3:18 You do touch him a bit. The only concern I have for you in this case are we sure you are cleared of him at 3:59. If not then that inner line towards the apex is his. Diving in like that can be dangerous for both. His reactions either way are trash. If he has a problem with you then take it with you only. Doing what he did creates a safety issue for everyone. Fortunately no one was hurt. On a brighter note seems like you are slighlty apexing early, mostly on the hair pins. Might gain time with the slightest of lifts and enter touch later and back in to stop the kart from sliding so much. Never driven these style of carts but between other racing forms I've done seems to prove beneficial. Good on you for getting your cool back quickly and checking if other driver is ok and then not creating a bigger issue. Best of luck in the future.

    • @offdabeatz - All good points. The thing to bear in mind with these indoor karts is that they have relatively low power and are heavy (to withstand all the inevitable knocks and bumps they must endure) so it is vital to keep up your momentum. Additionally, since there is often a large difference in abilities all racing together, you need to take in to account the unpredictability of some drivers. These factors hone certain skills and can result in some unconventional racing lines.

  • Regardless if a light few taps took place or not, you still can then just drive into people. That's just plain dangerous and another driver was involved, who was a total innocent party in the whole thing. In my view it was racing taps, nothing put him off his line or impeded his racing - to retaliate, using a cart as a weapon should see them banned from the track.

  • Saw him wall check someone else as you finally got past, so that leads me to believe he is just a problematic driver. His driving is dangerous. Needs a nice shiny blackball.

  • Hi rob, its Skye. he has no reason to be like that on track, as many oyhers have said when uou have a full suit you get targetded at more ect. i can say so myself i did a public session and had a maybe 20-30 year old lad come and try upto square upto me. and with me being 14 its a big situation. i went to apologise after bumping him and almost turning him sideways as he came across into my line on the long straight and it turned his kart. - he did manage to keep hold of it. but he threated me ect and told me to keep crying even though i wasnt 😂😂 anyways you did great, i would of reacted the same dont worry. and also ryan b is such a nice lad, i see him when i do monday night socials and i think his say was reasonable

  • Don't think you did anything wrong. I would have done the same as it a problem people just trying to ram you into the wall think you should slow down/brake as it they dont need to leave you room when your next to them. My biggest issue when you go to karting and you do the brief is that they never tell people to leave room if they is a kart next to you. This cause a lot of problem due to some people not know the best way around the track and just move all over the place just to stop you from getting pass and shutting the door on you as if you should stop.

  • I'm not familiar with the regulations to truly say who is in the wrong, but that big hit looked like it was on purpose As for your contact, if it was any, looked minimal and due to him blocking the way. Again, my only experience with kart racing is mario kart, so I'm ignorant here, but even I know blocking in actual racing is a no go.
