Our sow Donna is about to deliver her second litter of piglets for us, and we are super worried. Things went horribly wrong on her first attempt, and we lost that entire litter of piglets. We are cautiously optimistic that she will do a better job at motherhood this time around. We just have to get through the birth first!

So happy Donna’s 2nd litter is thriving! 108 turkeys - that sounds crazy to me!!
Me too! I was very worried. We already lost a few and I might sell some, but it is going to be a big turkey year. It's my most profitable product!
I think you love the having baby side of farming more than anything else farmers deal with!!
Yes, I really love the babies!
Feed her a cold watermelon. Our pigs loved watermelon.
Good idea!
Never knew pigs could break your arm with a bite... I've never seen a mean or pissed off farm pig before.... Seen how mean wild pigs are but never farm pigs..
I think he meant to say she could bite him OR break his arm, but they do have a pretty strong bite force. I've seen angry mama pigs try to kill grown men before, it's terrifying.
Amazing brand new babies know exactly how to get food and drink without being taught...
I know, natural born instincts are pretty incredible.
Just came across your post. Loved it I also subscribed ❤❤❤❤

Sure love your farm and learn a lot!! Moving to my homestead in spring !! Just learning all I can .. thanks for sharing your great teachers
That's wonderful, congratulations!
Is that a extremely large number of piglets or normal... No wonder the US has a wild pig problem with that many from one pig. I may be wrong, aren't pigs capable of having more than 1 litter of pigs per year??
8-12 piglets is a normal litter size. They can have 2 litters per year. We will rebreed our sows in the late fall for some spring piglets.
Have you thought of planting some vines trained on wooden structure in such a way that it gives shade. Pretty sunny and look hot there 25:22
Good idea!
The animals may just eat it.
