My younger son I’m teaching this to since I’m learning a ton with my older sons hitting coach. He is small but starting to hit the hell out of the ball. One of those things you just have to try yourself. You’re an excellent instructor!

  • I am a 57 yr old golfer & have been searching golf vids, have not swung a bat for years. Teacherman kept coming up on my feed, and as I watched him talk about coiling around my back hip socket, i applied it on the range. No one has ever explained that coil as he did, and I am hitting the golf ball with more power, consistently, etc. fantastic teacher that also applies to golf!

    • His technique in golf would be a disaster. Snapping your wrists at the top is called casting the club and you would lose a lot of power. That said, his principles seem sound and solid for baseball.

Judge's alignment or connection (whatever you want to call it) at launch and at contact maintains those angles better than anyone. I still haven't felt that unloading of the leg from the tilt but I'm open to the idea.

Question regarding the body tilt in getting the high, middle, and low pitches: would you recommend starting at the low body tilt position and then coming up to get the middle and high pitches? • The "tilt" is the core extension that you see in all Power-C moves. (clean and press, snatch, javelin, discus) Contraction of the posterior chain with the slight distention of the anterior core is the prime driver (along with triple extension of the lower half) of the most powerful movements the human body is capable of making. I' m new to these videos, so not drinking the Kool-Aid quite yet, but makes more sense then most.

  • This is very interesting, and I like the logic and the demonstration. I'm struggling with the hand/wrist movement after contact, I'll call it "release". When I practice the motion in this video, my bottom hand seems to have the face (not palm) pointed straight up, and it is difficult to roll the wrists over to finish the follow through. At some point, the face of my bottom hand needs to be facing forward, not up, doesn't it? I feel like I am missing something the end of the swing with the hands. Thank you!

    @SuperLabmaster@SuperLabmaster Жыл бұрын
    • Yeah man, you're right! You'll end up palm up palm down, this is just a feel to get you to understand when and how to launch the bat. Just put all your effort into turning the barrel rearwards as quick as you can and let the rest happen normally

    @basilray@basilray Жыл бұрын
  • Watched the video. Agree with a lot especially getting the bat in the hitting zone. What I don’t understand or see is the weight shift from the backside to a balanced position with a strong front side. I watched, judge, Harper, Trout, and old Mantle video and they definitely do not lunge but do shift somewhat forward then rotate. Their back foot is turned and almost off the ground and have a firm straight leg

    @coachprinci@coachprinci Жыл бұрын
    • That front leg actually becomes a brake for the forward momentum by pushing into the ground which that helps the front hip rotate backwards so the back hip rotates forwards. That's why those players & many other greats like Hank Aaron, Ted Williams, and Babe Ruth all ended with their back foot closer to the pitcher at the end of their swings. This coach either doesn't understand this, or intentionally leaves that out to validate his point. And to say it's something they "are athletic enough to get away with it" is at best misinformed.

I mean this guy worked with Judge, and if that's not good enough for anyone, I don't know what is. @01:06 is a good example, see that elbow on the hip? That.

It works with our players. 100%… I said it before and I’ll say it again clinics are a waste of time IF they don’t have some one to help them when they go home and struggle with what was taught at the clinic. I still played college ball and did pretty well but I still play in my 40s and am now hitting it better than I did when I was young. I just have to mentally lock into this method before each pitch or I default back to the muscle memory from bad coaching. The other week, I did this swing and was trying to check it but his am oppo double in the gap because I left the barrel in the zone and it still had power.

      @GingerG546@GingerG546 Жыл бұрын
    • Think of dipping the shoulder as a result of your power move... it is not dipping but a powerful tilting of the torso. Ted Williams does it as well. He sets up front shoulder down back shoulder up...(haven't heard this from Richard in a while) why? So you can generate that strong tilt that CAUSES your back shoulder to drop. Williams back shoulder is lower than the front almost immediately... this tilt motion is much stronger AND QUICKER than a twist or simple rotation. Try it yourself!!!

      @jwdiho@jwdiho Жыл бұрын
    • Problem is this tilt alone DOES NOT fully describe the rest of the swing. Front leg block and ground forces absolutely complete the picture.... thats why Richard's videos and Ted williams look so contradictory.... but they do share some key points.

    @rms5654@rms5654 Жыл бұрын
    • Exactly. In addition, this guy's method causes the front side to fly open- which pulls the hitter's off-plane and significantly reduces vision. Yes, this technique generates a ton of power, but it also makes hitters extremely easy to strike out. Hitters of the previous generation knew how to generate quickness and power without sacrificing as much contact, and they were much better overall hitters than what we're seeing today.

  • It's a school for necromancy . Hogwarts but with dark magic. My poor elbow can't do that

  • But we don’t exactly see this technique in the actual swing. Are you exaggerating the movement for effect? Just trying to better understand, thanks.

    • It's not exactly what you see but in the ballpark... fact is he lacks the kinesiology background to fully describe what is happening. Just my opinion...

  • 43 years too late for me :( but the fundamental mechanics are sound and strangely enough, unify the baseball swing with the tennis forehand with the golf swing. Coil, whip the barrel back and around, contact, then release.

  • Why are you hips open? Why not swing through level and use legs for elevation.

  • Good slow pitch softball mechanics, not so much for hitting a high fastball.

  • Now watch Aaron judges swing in slow motion. He doesn’t do the snap the barrel down thing. His swing path is just like everyone else in the mlb

    • You have the ability to adjust the subtitle language in your KZhead settings. Watch the video linked below: kzhead.info/sun/jdKoqNmseKivlIE/bejne.htmlsi=VryAiQ3DJAlWb5fe

  • The "Whip" is actually the bat dragging. In no way shape or form should the barrel be wrapped around your neck as he demonstrates. Look carefully at a full speed swing, he swings up through the ball. Of course it works for Judge, he's a freak of nature with herculean srength, he can get away with it. The avg kid cannot perform this consistently and cover the whole strike. It's almost impossible to hit a ball up in the zone with your hands starting low, and with the "tilt" of the bat the entire outer 1/2 of the plate is exposed creating easy flaired foul balls and pop ups. Any decent pitcher can expose this on a consistent basis.
