  • Some good sound advice here. You’re so correct about the fact of many of us feel we need to constantly develop themes and it can become over complicated. Less is often more. (Just an observation opinion, I’m not sure if the jazz bed is helping on your video?…especially when singing a melody).

  • Could you make a series where you analyze a piece from certain composers and then explain what's going on in the music and perhaps also try to create a piece in that kind of style for the video. Would be very educational and fun to watch for sure.

    • I’m planning on doing this with some new music I’m premiering at a private recital in June. Stay tuned!

  • I am just this minute knocking some thematic material into shape and the instinct is to keep adding/changing. This makes the decisions easier. Thanks Chris. I am struggling with development and recap without restating, wondering how far I can wander from the thematic material in dev, without losing the plot and how much to bring back in the recap. It's challenging but fun. (putting my vote in for NO BG music. Hard to follow you singing Williams with that going on underneath. Sorry mate, but your tips and lessons are engaging enough!)

    • Yeah I just forgot to edit the music out at that part 🥲 but I appreciate the feedback!

  • Sometimes I feel like everything I do must be a motif. No development, no transitional material. Trying to break out of this habit.
