Clancy was a real survivor because he used his wits,survival skills and pure determination to try and escape but in the end despite his wits Clancy burns alive because of Lucas and all that is left of him is a burnt shrivlled up corpse But in his last moments he recorded the puzzle and showing the passcode so that Ethan could find Mia Clancy Javis is the true hero of this game and will be remembered as one

Nah he lived, happy bday is set 1 day before 21, where you play as him, showing that he lived and L meant left or lost as they prob let him go considering they said he would be in the family, if he survived, but he stabbed Marguerite so they prob just let him go.
It only says Clancy in happy Bday because his Gopro can probably automates to say Clancy when translated to VCR.
In a way Ethan, Mia, and Zoe all owe their lives to Clancy as he figured out the puzzle and essentially told Ethan how to escape the birthday trap.
Well for me when I played for the first time I didn’t watch any Clancy videos.

Lucas designed every trap to kill his victims and even lied to them about having a chance to escape, plus he takes great pleasure in torturing and killing his victims. Lucas is the true antagonist of RE7, very underrated villain

Filthy Crab he survived in the full game to he wasn't the one in happy birthday for a few reasons 1. The happy birthday person sounds different 2. the bakers hit list gave Clancy an L for lived ( I assume ) 3. the dates are different for 21 its June 3rd and for happy birthday it's June 2nd 4. in the demo it explains that Clancy escaped but when he told people his story there was no murder references to be found and someone found traces of LSD around him

Resident evil 7 is amazing by throwing clancy into the mix and creating our bonds to him to grow stronger. By killing clancy, the game shows us that not everything has a happy ending.. Its perfect

The protagonist would either learn from him or use his own wits to outsmart villains like this guy. Clancy's death is a learning arc for ethan and becuz of that, it is perfect.

i know this is three years old, but that's exactly what i was thinking upon a rewatch of this game. ethan has nothing to him, at least compared to clancy he doesn't. ethan gets his hand stabbed and subsequently sawed off, and yet is fine within 10 seconds.

He didn't died on Happy Birthday, the times don't match with 21, Happy Birthday is before 21. He survived and played 21 with Lucas and possibly won since there's no ending of him losing, only winning.

I think his personality and stuffs are more realistic than ethan. He did everything he could to survive, his reaction to many events he was in is the best. It was the first time he encountered such thing but he did so well but still managed to put many feelings like when he said “i wanna go home” or “what is up with this fucking house”, “you’ll let me go”, “let me out of this nut house”, “when i’m done i gonna burn this fucking house down”, “its over i made it” and many other “i’ll survive this shits” kinda things are so real. I don’t know if he’s alive and managed to escape or not but if he does, please like a freaking please i wanna see him more in other re games. He is the real badass and the real survivor in this game. Clancy my man, you’re the best❣️

He reacted differently to traps and stuff than Ethan because Ethan witnessed his hand and foot get cut off and reattached in a matter of moments. Clancy doesn’t have that power and therefore has more human reactions compared to ethan

Can I just say that Clancy and everything surrounding Clancy was waaaaaay more interesting then cardboard cut-out that is Ethan and his supposed "main-story"? This game is really bizzare, having DLC's being way more interesting then a vanila game. All that remains is "Not a Hero" DLC.

Jack for me, Marguerite just acted like a crazy tweaker the whole game, whereas Jack felt like a real villain who wanted to see you suffer. Just my opinion tho

Lucas for me. Lucas wasn't even infected, he was doing all these things by his own admission, working with Umbrella to see how Eve behaves without her actual well skilled babysitters caring for her. He pretended to be under her control but that was never the case, or at least his reports describe. He was doing all this things without her controlling him, he even killed a young boy by locking him in the attic to starve to death.
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it Clancy really shouldnt have taken the Sewer Gators job.

So either it was someone else who died in happy Birthday The devs could’ve just got the dates wrong OR WHAT PEOPLE WANT - “Clancy” is bandaged in “21” on his left arm, this is where “Loser” would be written Clancy may have been infected and somehow survived the fire 🔥

I like it when a game puts in an enemy that is faster than you, so you can't actually run from it, but if you try and fight it it takes a 3rd of your health with every swing, and can swing really fast

Clancy's tale is one of the many Baker family and Eve's victims. Imaging going through banned footage for rest of their victims, all ending in horror and tragedy. Ending credits is haunting with missing persons photos of their victims + the Aunt Rhody song

Clancy and Ethan’s story reminds me about Little nightmares/Six and Runaway kid’s story. Clancy and Runaway Kid are both in dlc’s and both went through so much just to get killed off. Indirectly though, their deaths end up helping the main characters: Ethan and Six who end up surviving because of the dlc’s character. Sometimes I wish the dlc characters don’t always have to be put through hell only to die all in the sake of helping the main character in some indirect way.

I know my comment is a few years late but Well done and very well edited and smartly done to to use the end of each DLC and merge them together like a old video tape and yes I know that's how the DLC story about Clancy is told.
The guy in the "HAPPY BIRTDAY" tape was Oliver not Clancy but he had the same actor.

It was Clancy. The devs screwed up the dates.
It was Clancy's camera, which explains the tape saying it was him. It was recorded on June 2nd, and 21 was recorded on June 3rd. Also, The Baker's have a list of people they've kidnapped saying what happened to them (If they died or transformed). Clancy is on that list, but it doesn't say what happened to him. Which means that either he died during the game, which is impossible if he died in the Birthday recording, or he escaped. According to a newspaper in the Baker home Andre, Pete, and Clancy went missing on the 9th. But Andre and Pete apparently died on the 1st, and Clancy "died" on the 2nd, and was playing Blackjack for his life on the 3rd. It is possible that the person in the Birthday video was someone else, but they were using Clancy's camera, and Clancy escaped during the time between 21, and Ethan arriving. It is possible that Oliver was the one who died in the Birthday type, but he supposedly Oliver died in the Attic, so it is unlikely. That all still doesn't explain how the newspaper says Clancy, Andre, and Pete disappeared on the 9th. So either Clancy escaped, or the devs fucked up the dates horrifically.

Clancy is one of the best heroes in resident evil 7. He sadly burned alive but we will appreciate that he tried to escape the bakers.
Like how Clancy is just playing the Game (Blackjack) normally while Hoffman is just scared and Heavily Breathing.
In defense of Ethan (though I could be biased because what little I see in Ethan personality wise I really like) I think the whole goal was to keep Ethan a bit plain. Typically first person games, or the ones I've played, all have a bit of a blander main character. I assume it's because they want to really make you feel like that character, and giving them a distinct personality might ruin that. I don't know, that's just what I think. But I do love Clancy, I really wished he'd lived. Honestly I liked Clancy more than Mia or Zoe.

Valid point ☝️ In the main 21 game the arm that Clancy has fasten down has a bandage on in the happy birthday vhs the clown carved loser on the arm that is pinned in the 21 game and the bandage is covering the part where his arm is carved...right, then once you finish the happy birthday vhs when Clancy has just supposedly "burned to death" you can see his opposite arm to the carved and 21 arm and it's burn pretty bad but you don't really see your right arm to your left in 21 as he has it on his lap in the shadows, so it's weird that his left has a bandage where the clown carves in happy birthday and you don't see the right arm that's at the end of happy birthday... I don't know like but theirs some correlation 🤔 if you catch my drift...

There's some inconsistencies with the timestamps on these videos. Mainly the first video takes place on June 1st and the last on June 2nd, but the banned tapes in between show a date that ends in a 3. Which means it could have taken place on the 3rd, 13th, or the 23rd of any month, but it still contradicts the last tape where he dies.

A helpful tip to figth jack baker if he does the grab attack on you And tries to swing at you your best option is to just crouch and jack will miss
