ℹ️ About the Episode: The process of getting a new RV dialed in can be stressful at times. It's important to remember that all the problems come together right out of the gate. Luckily, the fridge fix from last week worked great! You'll have to watch this episode to find out why marinara sauce was splattered all over the floors! We used to call these "dips," but with more experience, we just call it RVing. We know there's going to be a lot of commentary about the Airstream dragging. We knew this would happen. Not all Airstreams need to be lifted, but with the tail swing of the 30' model combined with the height of the F250... it seems to happen at least once on each leg. We'll be visiting Ronnie soon, and a 3" lift is first on our list of mods. In fact, a lift is required for the Airkrafters on-board generator installation. Candidly, working through these issues is actually fun to share. It’s like that great line from Kevin Costner, who plays a rescue swimmer for the Coast Guard in the movie The Guardian: "The only difference between you and the victim is the attitude in which you enter the water.” We knew when selling our dial-in Flying Cloud and purchasing a new-to-us Airstream that we'd spend the first month (or two) working through problems and learning which cabinets fly open and just when to duck your head. Looking back at all our RV adventures, we don't remember the “dips” as much as we remember the places and people we've visited.

  • Hi from Spring Lake, MI! FYI, the cabinet latches come in 5 lb and 10 lb versions. The 10 lb latch might be better for your cabinet, as it requires more force to open. It’s part number 381228: Catch grabber door latch, 10 lb. - available in Woodland Airstream’s online parts department. It worked for our large cabinet door that houses our tabletops. Happy trails!

  • The Elvis VIP tickets were 100% worth it. I went a few years ago for my first time to Memphis. I an so glad I splurged. I love elvis and always have. We had a small group and a personal tour guide that we could ask questions to and she gave us alot of tid bits that she's learned throughout her time working there. And the BEST part, we got to go to a VIP only exhibit and we got to touch one of Elvis' guitars! So so worth it! Even my husband loved it and he isn't a huge Elvis fan

  • Little tip! The basket you had on the shelf that flew open. If you put a clingy mat underneath, it would grip enough to prevent it from sliding and banging into the cabinet door. Or maybe little rubber nubs nubs under the basket would also work.

  • At Graceland, the VIP tickets can be a real benefit if you come on a day when it is packed, like during Elvis week or other special events that draw big crowds. I learned this during our visit a few years back from one of the gate attendants. I was going to buy the VIP experience and she said "Honey, save your money", advising the light crowds made one of the lessor packages the better buy, so your instincts were spot on. I love the fact you set up camp with your Airstream using the cheapest chock blocks known to man. That is awesome 😂😂😂

  • I cringed and giggled a little at the same time when I heard about “the marinara issue”. On our first ever trip out West from PA in our Outback, crossing on I-20, we went through Shreveport, LA. The interstate was horrible rough!! I think the RV got air a few times!! At our next stop, I opened the RV door to have some lunch and……dun, dun duhhh!!!…..a quart of spaghetti sauce all over the floor AND the appliances, AND the cabinets, AND everywhere! Fortunately, there was no carpet involved in our mess, but still, when that sauce gets in the crevices of your cabinets, it’s almost impossible to get out. Oh! And that’s not all! Apparently, we’re stupid, and didn’t learn our lesson from this little event cuz it happened a second time on THE SAME TRIP!!! Yep, another spaghetti sauce jar had liberated itself from the top cabinet and exploded on the floor. (Insert Homer voice here) DOH!!!!! The moral: NEVER do we store spaghetti sauce in the top cabinets of our RV. Pro tip!! It now lives on the floor under the sink!!! Lesson learned FOREVER! Thanks Marc and Trisha for keeping it entertaining. Love your content.

So when you're traveling and hit rough spots, bridge approaches and frost heaves your rig will want to thro things to the berm side or left to right... Just physics... Folks just don't take into effect the lever rule... The longer the lever the stronger, harder, more violent the reaction is... Stay safe

  • Car break-ins are rampant in Memphis. A shiny nice Ford truck like yours would make a tempting target. Memphis is a dangerous city. If you have a CCW please have it on your person.

  • Loved the video, Marc and Trish! Too bad about the fountain, but it looks like you had an all around good time in Memphis and Oxford. It is always fun to see you in places familiar. Safe travels!
