Wow! I was just listening to ur preview! That sounded great! By the way, I wish they would add an awesome ninja character into a new Streets of Rage game, like the ones in that boss fight in part 3 - the big, purple and red colored ones! Or like the green ninja bounty hunter in the anime Rusty Battle Angel (the one who killed Hugo)! That would be so awesome and fit better with that kind of music! The design for the green enemy ninja in Ninja Scroll would also make an awesome character! Mean, powerful, agile and lightning fast!

@@PanmetLongplays Cool! Hey! U should also listen to the soundtrack of Contra Hard Corps for the Genesis! That one in many ways surpasses even SOR 2 (Streets of Rage 2)! Also in that awesome early 90's real techno style, it uses more sounds from that era, but has amazing synth leads and more changes in the music as well! The musical compositions are fantastic! The sound quality isn't quite as good and clear as in SOR 2 but it still sounds great! Have a listen when u get the chance!
@@HowlingMoonCinemas Hello!) I've been familiar with the Sega Mega Drive console since 1998, and I've heard a lot of things.) But at the moment I'm focused on SoR 1,2,3. This is not just a copy, some electronic subgenres are heard for the first time (for example, Hardcore Trance). And since this sound is multi-layered, it is interesting for experimentation.
@@PanmetLongplays Oh! Okay!just to point out - SoR 1 has oldskool house, SoR 2 has early 90s techno and part 3 (probably the only stinker 😂) was experimental techno. Even Yuzo Koshiro said that he didn't know what he was thinking in that one!

The development of this game is just amazing. Knowing the final game and seeing this beta makes me think how hard they worked on it. And dude, that sunset stage is real shit, why that didn't made it to the final version, it would be even better than that "fire stage" that is the stage 2 on this beta.
Some things in this version look better than in the final one. Like, some of the enemy ninja look more robust and have baggier clothing (more like the cool anime type of ninja), Shinobi's (Joe Musashi's) dash looks more like the iconic ninja dash and his clothing is also a bit more loose, which is more ninja and anime-like as well. In the final version, Joe was drawn much too scrawny and his outfit wasn't as nice and loose anymore. It was very interesting to compare the beta and the final.

Yes. But the original name of the series is The Super Shinobi. So this prototype is called The Super Shinobi 2. (Second title Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master)

Agreed, a good case of a company realizing something needed a major rework. Ended up being my favorite 16-bit game of all time. I like that back handspring move, though (at 5:15)
To be fair we don't know how much this version improved. Would be nice to see the finished version that ended up getting reviewed. Also the sunset stage segment with the forest in the background is great. Too bad they never used those assets in the final version.
