They're still predatory, lack empathy, manipulative & calulating. But instead of focusing on hurting other human beings They're focused on thriving in their careers

A key term in psychopaths is that they’re lazy, narcissistic, manipulative, liars, and much more. You have to be determined by a specific test that you are a psychopath.

Psychopaths will hurt or kill anyone if they get in the way of what they want, which is usually more related to reasons that have to do with their career or whatever sense of pleasure there is for them to feel that is not emotional but rather physical, including adrenaline rushes.

He is very manipulative , puts on fake personalities, betrays and uses people and is very sadistic . Dimitri also has no compassion or conscience . Trevor unlike what people think is insane not a psychopath. As bad as Trevor is he at least still has feelings for his friends .

  • At the end, what she's begun feeling is what allows us to live in groups rather than being solitary predators. "Guilt" and compassion are social emotions -- faking either one is possible, but most healthy individuals can pick up on it. That's where the "creeped-out" sensation comes from. Civilization doesn't reward the psychopath; eventually, they harm the wrong person once too often or encounter another psychopath who is more skilled at manipulation than they are. Around 7:30 she stops pretending compassion for her husband and the psychopathy is allowed to appear. Psychopaths make excellent leaders, scientists and politicians but they're often lousy partners and terrible spouses! If they have additional mental "issues" or were victims of severe childhood abuse they can become Ted Bundys. Some even become Joseph Stalins.

    • How is using "guilt" to control the behaviour of the masses not also a psychopath behaviour. Clearly making someone feeling guilty as a form of behaviour control benefits the only doing the controlling. Knowing the pain and anguish of guilt while willing inflict for your own benefit clearly constitutes emotional abuse. Using guilt to manipulate people is harm and you are correct someone more skilled in "guilting" will make you feel the true weight of guilt eventually. There are no psychopath, that is just a convinient concept people use to explain selfishness. In the end you don't need emotion to know hurting people is bad, that is what education is for.

You can actually train this sense. One if you sit, in a quiet dark room and stare at candle flame it will train your hearing to pick up smaller sounds, and your smell you pick up fainter smells. Then spend time in the woods, amongst the trees, sitting calmly your subconscious will pick up naturally what is jormal and what is not. Your flight or fight response will become heightened with more training and experiences. Also see Shinobi training techniques.

  • I've been diagnosed as Sociopath with Psychopathic Tendencies from the VA. Most of you people don't understand what either of them mean. so here's a minor breakdown of the two. Even the doctors are confused and don't get the diagnosis correct as they're so similar. So read this, and try to understand what it means. Society has conspired with Hollywood to put two seemingly-sexy psychology terms into our collective consciousness - psychopath and sociopath. Psychopath and sociopath are pop psychology terms for what psychiatry calls antisocial personality disorder. These two terms are not well-defined in the psychology research literature - hence the confusion about them. Nonetheless, there are some general similarities as well as differences between these two personality types. Both sociopaths and psychopaths have a pervasive pattern of disregard for the safety and rights of others. Deceit and manipulation are central features to both types of personality. Contrary to popular belief, a psychopath or sociopath is not necessarily violent. The common features of a psychopath and sociopath lie in their shared diagnosis: antisocial personality disorder. The DSM-5 defines antisocial personality as someone having three or more of the following traits: Regularly breaks or flouts the law Constantly lies and deceives others Is impulsive and doesn’t plan ahead Can be prone to fighting and aggressiveness Has little regard for the safety of others Irresponsible, can’t meet financial obligations Doesn’t feel remorse or guilt In both cases, some signs or symptoms are nearly always present before age 15. By the time a person is an adult, they are well on their way to becoming a psychopath or sociopath. Traits of Psychopathy Psychology researchers generally believe that psychopaths tends to be born - it’s likely a genetic predisposition - while sociopaths tend to be made by their environment. (Which is not to say that psychopaths may not also suffer from some sort of childhood trauma.) Psychopathy might be related to physiological brain differences. Research has shown psychopaths have underdeveloped components of the brain commonly thought to be responsible for emotion regulation and impulse control. Psychopaths, in general, have a hard time forming real emotional attachments with others. Instead, they form artificial, shallow relationships designed to be manipulated in a way that most benefits the psychopath. People are seen as pawns to be used to forward the psychopath’s goals. Psychopaths rarely feel guilt regarding any of their behaviors, no matter how much they hurt others. But psychopaths can often be seen by others as being charming and trustworthy, holding steady, normal jobs. Some even have families and seemingly-loving relationships with a partner. While they tend to be well-educated, they may also have learned a great deal on their own. When a psychopath engages in criminal behavior, they tend to do so in a way that minimizes risk to themselves. They will carefully plan criminal activity to ensure they don’t get caught, having contingency plans in place for every possibility. Traits of Sociopathy Researchers tend to believe that sociopathy is the result of environmental factors, such as a child or teen’s upbringing in a very negative household that resulted in physical abuse, emotional abuse, or childhood trauma. Sociopaths, in general, tend to be more impulsive and erratic in their behavior than their psychopath counterparts. While also having difficulties in forming attachments to others, some sociopaths may be able to form an attachment to a like-minded group or person. Unlike psychopaths, most sociopaths don’t hold down long-term jobs or present much of a normal family life to the outside world. When a sociopath engages in criminal behavior, they may do so in an impulsive and largely unplanned manner, with little regard for the risks or consequences of their actions. They may become agitated and angered easily, sometimes resulting in violent outbursts. These kinds of behaviors increase a sociopath’s chances of being apprehended. Which Is More Dangerous? Both psychopaths and sociopaths present risks to society, because they will often try and live a normal life while coping with their disorder. But psychopathy is likely the more dangerous disorder, because they experience a lot less guilt connected to their actions. A psychopath also has a greater ability to dissociate from their actions. Without emotional involvement, any pain that others suffer is meaningless to a psychopath. Many famous serial killers have been psychopaths. Not all people we’d call a psychopath or sociopath are violent. Violence is not a necessary ingredient (nor is it for a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder) - but it is often present. Clues to Psychopathy or Sociopathy in Childhood Clues to psychopathy and sociopathy are usually available in childhood. Most people who can later be diagnosed with sociopathy or psychopathy have had a pattern of behavior where they violate the basic rights or safety of others. They often break the rules (or even laws) and societal norms as a child, too. Psychologists call these kinds of childhood behaviors a conduct disorder. Conduct disorders involve four categories of problem behavior: Aggression to people and animals Destruction of property Deceitfulness or theft Serious violations of rules or laws If you recognize these symptoms (and the specific symptoms of conduct disorder) in a child or young teen, they’re at greater risk for antisocial personality disorder. Summary Psychopathy and sociopathy are different cultural labels applied to the diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder. Up to 3 percent of the population may qualify for a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder. This disorder is more common among males and mostly seen in people with an alcohol or substance abuse problem, or in forensic settings such as prisons. Psychopaths tend to be more manipulative, can be seen by others as more charming, lead a semblance of a normal life, and minimize risk in criminal activities. Sociopaths tend to be more erratic, rage-prone, and unable to lead as much of a normal life. When sociopaths engage in criminal activity, they tend to do so in a reckless manner without regard to consequences.

  • I mean she’s not wrong. People are after themselves. However we’re normally social creatures, which makes us programmed to sometimes act in what seems selfless but is just a hardwired coding. She’s just a more independent and predatory sub type of a human. If I’m nature there was ever a need for more independent and cold, these people would survive better.

    @magnarcreed3801@magnarcreed38012 жыл бұрын
    • Eh, not sure what you mean by hardwired. If you mean we evolved to behave that way, our selfish desires are evolved the same way. Similarly, we are just as hardwired to do literally anything else we do, including accepting social norms and learning "softwired" (programmed?) behaviors.. She is more predatory but not more independent. She relies on other people to prey on; that's dependency. Also social behavior isn't some sort of weakness. It's often a huge evolutionary advantage to have it, which is why you see it being independently evolved in all sorts of species. To help or to leech is like the prisoner's dilemma. If too many people are sociopathic the group dies, but if enough people are cooperative the sociopathic ones thrive. From my uninformed pov that's probably why even selfish people suddenly find the spirit of self-sacrifice in life-and-death situations; leeching when you can and helping when you must might be the optimal strategy. Although I can see that if human existence isn't threatened by anything for long enough, perhaps psychopathy is the next step to our evolution? (although that would require some evolutionary pressure somehow?)

Psychopathy has a higher likelihood of doing harm than the switch-off person, because psychopaths lack the ability to feel empathy and emotional sympathy. Even though the switch-off can switch these feelings off, they can also switch them on, and know how it feels and would feel, which still can have a mitigating factor on their likelihood of doing harm.

The other ended up maintaining the mental illness post-partum. She actually tried to kill her baby... thankfully she was not successful! Her illness actually remained with her for a few years. Her mom (a friend of mine) was raising her granddaughter. Then the mother (my friend's daughter) somehow stopped having these episodic schizophrenic attacks and was deemed to be better. Supposedly this was without medication, but idk for sure...just going off what my friend said. Anyway, it was like my friend's daughter had something triggered during pregnancy, and whatever that was (a chemical maybe?) finally resolved itself. So strange for both of these women.

Psychopathy isn't an official diagnosis, antisocial personality disorder is the diagnosis, but in the psychological literature psychopathy and sociopathy is absolutely relevant, and the difference is (but not the only difference of course) - one is genetic, second one is a result of abuse and neglect. Also, there's a case of intensity - psychopath will plan and kill, sociopath wil not go to that length.

  • I've been wondering probably for like 3 years now if I'm a psychopath or not and I still don't know. Most people said I am but I just can't meet all the criteria for psychopathy. My parents were always angry my whole life that they can't see joy or practically any emotion on my face even if I'm happy or sad, they were angry because like every Christmas, Birthday or anything when I was given presents they didn't see a reaction, I told them I was happy about it and they believed me for sure but still they were always telling me that it annoys them that no matter what they do for me they don't see me care. I'm 22yrs old, I just met a girl 3 years ago, she is my first love and my parents were so happy like they literally told me they thought I'll never find a girl because they have never seen me really show emotions or engage towards girls, they thought I don't have emotions but I guess I proved them wrong and yet my BFF still believes I'm a psychopath. Another interesting thing that probably worth to mention, when I was little about like 5-6 years old maybe, we had a cat. One time in the bathroom I forced the cat into the corner, closed the door onto it, the cat was stuck and I started kicking her. My mom saw that, she stopped me and like slapped the shit out of me, she was incredibly pissed. Later I explained that I didn't want to hurt our cat or cause pain, It was just good to feel regret and sadness, I couldn't really explain it, it was something like I needed that feeling, to feel bad about something I did and I can't undo. It was like people do good things to other people like giving homeless people change or whatever so they can feel good about themselves for a few days. In my case this feeling of regret after what I did like I actually almost cried but I couldn't but it still felt good like addicts who feel better after they got their next shot. I still can't cry bytheway, I cry when like peeling onions or if like someone would punch me in the nose, I react to physical trauma and I'm completely healthy, its not like I have a problem there, I just can't cry out of emotion no matter what happens. My dad died 3 years ago right in front of me when he was just about to get ready to leave the hospital and was trying to get up from the bed but suddenly he said his chest hurts, his eyes rolled back, he fell back on the bad and he was dead, emt rushed in with red bags and all I felt was that this is my first time seeing something like this in my life for real, I just wanted to watch, I didn't even progress or care that my dad just died a second ago, but emt sent me out of the room before they started reviving him which of course failed. My mother died a year ago, I just came back home at the evening and she was sitting on the bed with her phone in her hands, I thought she is sleeping but she's been dead for hours, I called ambulance and started cpr, of course it was needless. Ambulance arrived, they wanted to start taking out the body and they said it might be a good idea if I go out, but I said I want to stay cause I can't do anything about her being dead now anyway so why not watch something that I'll probably never see ever again? I was given so many complements about how strong I am and how sad they are about my loss etc, they didn't find it strange for a second that my mother's death didn't hit me at all, I even told them that how else could I react I mean she is dead, it happened and I can't undo it, from their point of view this isn't even a person anymore its just biological trash. I'm also not sure that I would be a psychopath because they CAN'T feel emotions but I do, its more like I don't know how to properly feel emotions like in what situations what emotions should be felt, I more like just randomly want to feel the emotions I need at the moment like with that cat in which case I got my regret cause from that point that cat was always scared of me and she was very aggressive towards me until she died. One last thing, there was a time little less than a year ago when I did something not too bad but still bad towards my best friend which hurt him and he was almost like he never even wanted to talk to me ever again but luckily we could talk and it was all ok in the end. But before that I wanted to meet him and I spent like a good week at home watching sad movies or sad youtube videos titled this will make your cry or something, I was almost like practicing how could I make myself cry out of emotion because I felt very very bad that I did something wrong and it was so embarrassing that I can't even show one fuckin tear or something, I wanted him to see when we meet that I really feel bad about what I did but I thought I couldn't make him believe that If I can't react to that emotionally. I guess people would think I'm trolling but I swear I don't, these are all true and I only wrote this so maybe someone could give me a little bit of an explanation that I could tell my friend so he wouldn't think of me as a psychopath anymore cause he told me multiple times he thinks I am one and I can't be a 100% sure that he really believes that but I think he really does.

I definitely don't care that much, if I did I wouldn't ask randomly on KZhead. • psychopathy is a state of mind actually, it's not that these people can't ever feel these emotions, it's not a disability, it's more so that they choose not to for whatever reason. if they wanted to, they could be just as empathetic and emotional as any of us, and have a moral compass, but either just don't see reason in it or it's something else. too much self awareness and desensitization coupled with counteracting guilt by trying to suppress it or remove it turns people into psychopaths.

    • @@lifewithtassia6101 no, it was shown twisted to the point that would be impossible for a normal human. I think the point was to showcase that due to her condition her bones became brittle enough that a fairly normal action of taking someone arm and that someone slightly resisting managed to cause it to snap.
