  • Love the tent! Amazing! It’s the best suv-tent hook up I have seen. It has so much additional space. It’s always a lot more comfortable sleeping in a vehicle, I think. I don’t have to worry about rain, bugs and other critters. It’s so easy to detach and drive it somewhere else as needed.

    @deborahchapman1488@deborahchapman148810 ай бұрын
    • Why wouldn't you have to worry about bugs and critters? I mean there is no floor and that material isn't stopping any animal from burrowing under or simply clawing right through it.

      @chillwill5080@chillwill508010 ай бұрын
    • @@chillwill5080 I agree. When I watch these camping videos from Japan, none of the tents I have seen have floors in them. Their camping areas are on gravel. We don’t do that in the US. We camp on cleared forest grounds and grass. We need bottoms on our tents. Japan campers do not sit or sleep on the ground in their tents. Personally, I would prefer a bottom to my tent no matter what I camp on. However, I am American and I would never pitch a tent on gravel. I do see the practicality of camping on gravel. It’s clean and drains well.

      @deborahchapman1488@deborahchapman148810 ай бұрын

  • My family does camping a bit differently. When we go camping, we hang an old tarp from a rope tied between two trees and then we spread the tarp out to make a bit of cover. We use rocks to make a fire pit and we cook our meals in cast-iron pans. Sometimes bits of ash from our fire will float into the food on the fire, but we mix the ash in with the food because it adds real outdoor flavor. We swat at mosquitos and flies and complain about how the bugs are able to find us way out in the forest. We don't have cell phones, laptop computers, even radios. We talk, tell stories, make up stories, tell jokes and share tales of our lives. We don't go camping to replicate how we live in everyday life; we go camping to expose ourselves to a simpler, basic way of existence. Camping is a way to challenge how much we take life for granted, not to make life easier. We go camping to get back in touch with nature and wildlife, not sit in a canvas cocoon and surround ourselves with the comforts of our home life.

    • luxury or not, setting up a camp is still setting up a camp. When you put together a shelter outdoors in the wilderness, that's camping for me. Plus the extra comforts make me want to stay out longer and not miss home. However I do agree with you about being close to nature, but the fact that I'm sleeping outdoors is enough of a connection for me :)

  • Nothing like going to massive effort to "get away from it all..." and then use lots of energy to - take it all with you! I must admit, it's ALL well done, very stylish; and pretty darned cool. Nice job. I remember reading a Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel long ago, and in this culture, their sleeping mat pads were internally heated. Then, on a timer, the mat would cool down by about 10 or 12 degrees Fahrenheit about 15 minutes before wake-up, which made one wake up naturally.

  • love it, next level stuff, but I believe the true essence of camping and outdoor living is simplicity and authenticity. All those gears are hard but somewhat narrows the authenticity.

    @hiinyodon4960@hiinyodon4960 Жыл бұрын
    • Was thinking exactly the same thing. At that point you acquire so much gear and stuff you might as well get an RV or just book a bungalow. There's an elegance in simplicity. I understand the appeal of overlanding, but this is a bit too much, you spend so much time setting everything up versus just enjoying being outside.

      @Seathal@Seathal Жыл бұрын
    • Oh man, I couldn't agree with you guys more. Halfway through the set up I was getting annoyed with the complexity of every single piece of gear. It might be cool if you set up for a 2 week camp out, but all of the zipping and unzipping, snapping stuff together, clipping this and that was so ridiculous. I would never be able to hi tech camp like this, and Hi tech should not be more complex.

    • @@Seathal I've seen the so-called true camping guys spend just as much time chopping wood, clearing brush/snow and all the other "authentic" camping tasks. We're all free to appreciate the content we like but I think this creator spends about the same amount of time getting his camping spot set up the way he likes as the other more minimalist campers.

      @skoomskaa@skoomskaa Жыл бұрын
    • @@skoomskaa Minimal tent setup, gathering and chopping wood, lighting a fire... all of these are outdoorsy, physical activities that comnect you to the exterior and nature. This video was 99% connecting gizmos, setting stuff up. 1% (maybe) enjoying nature. Hes free to do it his way, I just feel something genuine and simple is lost. I'm not a technophobe by any means, I domotized my house entirely and work in tech, but that's precisely what I want to get away from if I camp.

      @Seathal@Seathal Жыл бұрын
    • @@skoomskaaI love the fact that he's all covered but you can't deny there were bunch of useless stuff/tools. Also, I think you're a bit confused, your definition of 'all the other "authentic" camping task' is what camping is all about. What are your thoughts on this?

    • A long time ago, when my loved one left, I didn't need a house So I made a big camping car by myself I started sleeping in the car to find my lover The garage became my home, and I stayed by the car for 24 hours and fell asleep in the car How can I sleep in the car so that it's not cold? How can I not die in a car? These worries have become business for me People are constantly moving towards nature It's uncomfortable, but I like it Those people ask me How can I sleep comfortably like you? FISH! I want to go further in a small car! People came up to me for these reasons I made them small devices With their small car, It helped me travel around the world A lot of time has passed When many reasons captivate me, I didn't want to stay in the garage anymore I'm here to meet people from all over the world Like them I helped out into the world. By the way, I realize that I can't go my way with my family My life.
