I am also renovating my 1989 compressor. It was 30 years old and it was time to give it a makeover! Hello from France ...
Wow what a talented man. Very Good. I could watch him all day 🧐
The color is beautiful! I appreciate the restoration, some modern touches but nothing extravagant.
You're welcome, I'm glad you like this color.

Nice work but paint got lot of bubbles
Since that Pressure Tank is 50 years old, It should be tested Hydrostatically at 1.5 times working pressure. If it is rated at 100 psi, then test it full of water at 150 psi. You may need a special pump to do this but do it in a clear area in case it explodes. It may have had moisture in it for years and corroding at welds etc. 9 kpa/cm2 is about 135 PSIG. Stay clear!
I agree, that's an old tank and need to be tested
I thought the same
I blew a tractor tire near me once, i was lucky that the blow made it fly away from me, but i couldn't hear straight for two hours after that. I was lucky that day. Air pressure is no joke, i fear these systems more than gas.
@Gord Baker Yes, you are right, I do appreciate you sharing this information.
Splendid restoration. I have an OCD problem when watching mechanical restoration videos, but have learned that your videos never trigger it. Sweet relief... Thank you brother! Keep it up! BTW...does anyone else find it remarkable that this air compressor was made the same year mankind first walked on the moon? What is your initial reaction to this: "Simplicity x (Precision + Top Quality Materials) = Functionally Sustainable Heirlooms" ...wow im a dork.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Though it's that super old it still seems to work like modern. Just what might be interesting is how much power it draws from the line...maybe there modern compressors are a bit ahead (cheaper power bills 😁)

Hi Gear Show 👋👋👋 awesome restoration air compressor 👍👍👍💣🔥👌🏽✌🏻🇷🇺
Wonderful! Greetings from Argentina!
You do a great job, thanks for share, Also, using paint striper to remove 50 old dirt in kitchen sink is the fast way to get divorced 🤣
Superb engineering / restoration works - skilled as ever, a job well done 👏🏻
Thank you very much!
This is just wonderfully restored I have no complaints, the color is amazing the creativity is brilliant and the video it self is just great in on it self.
Hey, Thanks! Nice work. Turned out splendid! I learned a couple tricks watching, as well.
As others mentioned, be careful of a rusted tank. Even if you don't want it tested, at least inspect the inside of the tank for severe rust. A cheap borescope camera dropped down one of the connection holes works well. The worst rust will obviously be along the bottom of the tank where the condensate sits. I just fired up an old compressor that was sitting for a few years only to find pin holes at the bottom of the tank. Looking inside showed severe rust along the bottom, the rest of the tank inside was still shiny silver bare steel. That went to the curb for scrap.
Thank you so much for the feedback!
True. Pressure needs to be tested carefully
You are an artist, something amazing, a very good job. I'm from Iraq
Sem palavras que trabalho maravilhoso!!!!
Thank you so much :)
Hoje lembrei de você. Consertei uma antiga parafusadeira Bosch a bateria.
Beautiful air compressor very well built !
I like the rotating Jar with sand in it. Very clever.
Thank you so much!
That's beautiful. Love the addition of auto cut off as well. More safe = more better.
Definitely!
Great restoration - another vintage machine saved from the Furnace. 👍👍👍
Many thanks!
Lovely Restoration. As some friends have suggested take care to pressure test the tank in future restorations
Yes, you are right
once again it turned out great. Especially the hammer-effect paint looks great.
Thank you so much 😀

I might be 4-month's late in watching this amazing restoration: which I actually found whilst peeping elsewhere. Regardless, and though at the moment, for reasons I won't go in to, I find I have available time to watch your video collection from the beginning. After which I might even start my own private collection... Good luck, and thanks for the ideas.
Good job bud! That Sanblaster must be huge to fit the whole tank
I must say, this has been one of your best restorations to date.
Very nice job👍
Thanks 👍
Ah first time I saw your face is in this video. Reflection on sandblasting machine... All your work is great man
That’s pretty smart shit using a container full of sand to sand every thing down by spinning the container
Thank you so much, but it take much time.
@@gear_show how much time did it took?
Im amazed about the state of the tank after all that time. Apart from peeling off paint, rust and dirt, its in good shape.
Yes, it is.
Superior Japanese quality. And of course excellent restoration. I would suggest repainting the "Iwata - Minicom" lettering on the side of the air tank. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the tips!
Very nice work
Thanks a lot
Excellent work. Very well done Sir! Greetings from Southport UK.

Incredibly satisfying
I'm glad you like it.
Very nice job. Great looking compressor!
Thank you! Cheers!
very good job
Nice job.
Cool working
Thanks
Great work ! it is a beautiful air compresor and another masterful restoration. Btw, I recomend checking the starting capacitor, it's degradation can lead to excessive pump vibrations.
Thanks for the tip! I will check it out.
I would like to add a layer of varnish to the motor winding. Nice restoration
Great job! I love it 👍
There's nothing better in this world than that moment when you are hand sanding a restored tool prior to paint, and you tell yourself constantly, every 30 seconds: "Do it fast. You're taking too long. Dont be a paint in the But. It doesn't have to be perfect!!!"...
beautiful job.....love that paint will have to find some in NZ
You are a truly professional craftsman. As a red seal journeyman plumber and gasfitter in canada i am perplexed to know what trade you do and where you do it. Ive always wanted to restore things like this. I do it with old faucets and heating equipment
Dressed like an officer, does the "dirty job".....still remains clean 👍👍👍👏👏👏
😁😂
Jak zwykle świetna robota pozdrowienia dla mistrza
Just about to do a similar restoration on my 1970 Stenhoj compressor - why sell it on and buy another, when for a bit of work I can restore to 'as new'. Great video - we need more people on YT to show / convert people to restoring things rather than throwing away and buying new.
Sounds great! Thank you so much!
Bom trabalho!! 👏👏
Thank you!
Excellent work👍👍👍. Thanks for sharing
You're welcome! Thank you!

Very good restoration 👍👍👍👍
Yes, thank you
Very nice
Thanks
Excellent restoration!
Many thanks!
I'm excited!
Good video you are such a craftsman.
Nice job, very effective.
I have worked using air compressors for over 50 years. Never seen one explode, never heard of one explode, never met anyone who had one explode. Most people leave pressure in the hose line so that will "pop" before a tank will ever explode.
Iwata great restore! Nice!
Yes it was!
Very nice!
Thank you!
Wow, great work
Thanks a lot!

amazing brother!
Appreciate it!
Great restoration video. Not complaining but my OCD flag went up at 14:01. I was waiting for you to tap that bulge on the fan guard back in. :-) No problem though. The compressor looks great.
Really great!!
Many thanks!
You should have changed the piston rings..btw nice video👍
