Shark fishing in Madagascar I SLICE I Full documentary
In the southwest of Madagascar, the coasts of the Indian Ocean are home to a people of sea nomads: the Vez. The Vez respect sharks and even if they continue to fish them to survive, they do it respecting the balance of the sea. We follow Jean-Louis, one of the biggest shark fishermen on the coast.
Several times a year, he leaves his village of Tsiandam with his wife and his two boatmen, Led and Bada, to reach their fishing area. In their adventures they will face a huge hammerhead shark of at least three meters and 200 kilos... Will they succeed in their fishing and thus feed their family?

There's something about the Polynesian and surrounding areas sea and island life that fascinates me. If the ancestors of these people were able to populate all these islands and even get to Hawaii, I don't see how or why there couldn't have been an ancient advanced culture that stretched across the globe
Speed of travel makes a globally connected ancient kingdom rather impossible
So awesome how they share their catch with all the families. Theyre not a bunch of greedy people. Any contact info?? I'd love to send em some new knives, sharpening tool, etc. The lack of sharpness gives me anxiety lol. There has to be a store or some type of business he visits that wont mind me mailing a package to their place and pass it on

Would be waiting to hear from u
God protect these pure humans.
I love this documentary, I am amazed by many things here. First, outsiders would look at these people and call them poor, but they are not poor, they have everything they want and they are happy. Their lifestyle is also sustainable...until greedy foreigners invade their coasts with large fishing trawlers to steal all their fishes, disrupting their life style and plunging them into poverty. Another thing is that they are using crude trimaran, and this is how they have always built their fishing vessels for centuries. It wasn't until centuries later, that other parts of the world started building trimarans. It is interesting how humans are so inventive and these "natives" are technologically minded, understanding physics and maths...even when outsides don't see them that way and are condescending towards them. It is interesting how they use polymers resins of trees to repair and preserve their canoes...again this is deep scientific knowledge which they have had for long, and continue to use.
Absolutely, well said. We think we're rich, but we become materialistic robots afraid of any discomfort trapped in an industrial, polluted prepackaged lifestyle.
Really really enjoyed your stories around the world. Thank Slice team.

I am glad some people are harvesting them. They are good food for many people in the world.
Would shark-fin-soup have anything to do with them not catching a shark in a month?!?
This is very informative. I hope some of these shark fishers would go to Australia so that the shark-infested areas will be lessen. I still feel terrible with the shark attack incident just a week ago.
It’s not shark infested. It’s just their natural territory. If you’re too afraid, don’t go in.
@@janb.4244 right lol. It's Human infested
Humans kill more sharks than vice versa. Imagine your species is killing a 100million endangered animals that only bite less than 20 people per year.
You really need to educate yourself, they’re not “shark infested” that’s their home, it’s where they LIVE. You most likely just watch the News and believe everything they say, shark attacks are 1 in millions, whereas we kill 275+ million sharks every year, only 10 shark attacks happen every year. Open your perspectives, sharks are not the monsters, HUMANS ARE. 70% of shark species are vulnerable/endangered thanks to US. Stop living in fear and realise the truth, sharks are not watch the media portrays them to be
Brave man. 💪🙂👌
