Man!!! Just read the comments here...the masses are conditioned to openly recieve this particular message through a major disinformation campaign designed to make them trust bad actors with long, violent criminal histories, and fear and loathe the police. So this movie is emotionally available, and readily accepted, and cried over. One lady even said she thinks she remembers it, that it's a true story! Our population is heavily influenced and believes what the news tells them, yet knows very little about the world, or the issues in any historical context. Very little higher education, and even if they do...roughly half can't find America on a map. This film misses the truth about cops...by a mile. Most are faithful public servants..any that aren't need to be rooted out. And America is a great country...It's run by people that don't see it that way. Think you want socialism ? Because your leftist professor said how great it is...it's always only great until you get it. Then it flips, like an abuser on wedding night, and everyone, except the elites who sold us that bag of false hopes and empty promises, and everyone ends up in poverty and worse. That's why it fails everywhere. Yes, even the Nordic countries all quickly reverted to free markets. Anyway...what you see here is part of that full-court press, and the only hope is truth. All stories that take place in New Orleans are embarrassing. They mess up the accents, the screw up the locations, (why are NOPD in Westwego arresting this man lmao) just an all around embarrassment.
@@Tony_Cardoza - I think he used a Korean American storyline because of marketing. Korean cinema is a big hype in Hollywood at the moment.
I can't stand these stories because they're real and knowing how cruel people are just makes me more angry and hopeless.
true..i think i am not watching it because of that too...coz i hav a fragile understanding to have peace in my mind with these kind of movies😂
Yes and yes... although now they're also a warning-- this shouldn't happen to anyone, and ICE should not be empowered by any president. They're out there ruining lives for now reason. How do they sleep at night, pieces of shit.

I feel you, @sasha. It’s fucking heartbreaking.
I feel that 💖 tho I think it's a powerful and important story to tell for that reason too
Wasn't expecting much and couldn't be more wrong. The emotions and dialogue are overwhelmingly powerful. The casts were amazing.
The dialogue could have been better, but at least there was no sentimentality.
Doesn't look like it'll have a happy ending but it's a story that needs to be told.

@@burtan2000 There is a legal way and an illegal way to come into this country. Knowing this person was 3 years old when he came here, but don't know whether he was a citizen or not. If he wasn't, he had plenty of time to do so. It's gut-wrenching to see someone get separated from their family, but they do have a choice. Most of them are hard working tax paying citizens and I believe anyone who's been here should be a citizen. Most also have a choice to prevent separation and deportation, but they don't. I'm not an immigrant, but my ancestors were and did it legally. My wife is an immigrant and her family waited 2 years for their quota to come up and immigrate here legally. These illegals don't make it fair for those who follow the law. While I understand the humanitarian cause, many have forgotten there is a legal way to immigrate. Alicia has such a good New Orleans accent, you’d hardly think she has a polished Swedish accent, she’s a great actress!
she's obviously done some work on it. A couple years ago her american accent was passing at best.

I hope it's Justin Chon. ❤❤❤

This hit home. I got admitted to a US college and applied for a visa to go study in the US and got denied 3 times the last months resulting in my savings gone and a depression. The immigration process is so difficult for people on the outside they do not care about you.
@BUCK FIDEN! you’re a ball of sunshine arent you?
This going to break my heart. This is too real...cause this has happened to to many people.

Finally a film which shows the truth about democracy and equality in the USA. Basically they do whatever they want wherever they are.
Cross your fingers you get a good not racist judge
You think this is truth? This is a wildly exaggerated and extreme caricature. We are so lost as a nation right now. I'm sorry you feel that way, I'm sure you have your reasons. But isn't it possible you're being just a bit alarmist about it? Anyway... God bless.
@@shielahaberecht3417 problem is you see this "exaggerated" depiction in every movie and series...at some point, you gotta ask yourself : What if it's closer to reality than you think?
@@lonewandererfo3 It's propaganda...it is purposeful and carefully crafted to control public opinion. Not Hollywood's version of it.
@@shielahaberecht3417 dude... you're just babbling endlessly, couldn't even read half of it..."America" is not a country, USA is and no, it is not great...It has many issues in such high levels that other countries really see it as a movie...Police brutality, racism, lack of education, nationalism etc obviously exist in most advanced countries in some amount...But when your population is so large and your profile is on the news everyday and you choose to portray your worst each time, then YES, there is definitely something going wrong with you...I might have not lived in the US personally but lots of friends and family currently do and all say the bad outweigh the good by a lot...
After watching the movie i felt my eyes were wet.Father daughter bonding and the separation makes you cry.
A fellow Asian in the lead, writer and director as well. And Alicia Vikander, whom I'll watch in whatever movie she's in. The storyline looks Oscar worthy, which I think is based in a true story. Can't wait.
This looks like real life. Just the trailer had me tearing up.
There’s something about Alicia which is so captivating
My heart broke just watching the trailer 😭.
I just saw her in green knight she can so seamlessly change I don’t want to spoil the movie but I was amazed by her performance I love the actors that focus on the small things like mannerisms, accent, all the above makes the performance all the better
I hope great directors who are working right now and legends who are working for more than 20 years will recognize Alicia Vikander even tho she has won the Oscar she still seen kinda underrated I hope she lands some big roles in future
The director is the lead actor. He also wrote it.
As a person of color, there is nothing better than seeing other being represented and telling their stories
Agreed. Many more African people need to be cast in Korean movies...
Asians aren't "persons of color".
Well this stopped my whole entire heart. Will report back when it's beating at a normal pace again.
Winning comment.

Damn I can already sense the intense emotions from this trailer. It’s so awesome to see an Asian lead! I feel like it’s very rare…

I LOVED this movie... it was absolutely engaging from start to finish being very very well written and acted!! Justin Con is an absolute revelation!!
Wow! This looks like one the very few important movies to come out in a while
This is actually inspired by a true story! I remember reading about it a few years back!
Happens all day long
This isn't a true story. Nothing about this is true. The lead/director says he based this on like 6 different people. The location was also picked at random, I guess these hollywood types think it's hip to film in New Orleans and absolutely butcher the accents.
I’m all over this movie YESSSS!!!!!
Heartbreaking and enraging beyond just to watch trailer
Never been too big on Vikander, and haven't come across the male lead before, but this looks great. Looking forward to it. Dear movie studios, More stories like this, please!
now this is a film....this hits home for me
I can't watch this movie. This actually happens to people who, in some cases, believe themselves to be American; or to a vet who fought on behalf of his country only to discover his parents did not file the proper paperwork decades ago. So sad, upsetting and un-American.
My heart will probably break from watching this but I have to see it! Justin and Alicia looks great together, an amazing cast altogether!
Seen Justin in other films. Great actor.
