  • wow, Samsonova was giving Osaka the ol' Hsieh Su Wei drop shot treatment. So effective. Good for her. She had a bad mental lapse in set two and really battled herself in set 3 but pulled it out. Good on Osaka tho for fighting throughout. Midway through set two I thought she'd just go away but she kept fighting. She lost but this loss is nothing to be ashamed of imo, especially on clay. Great court craft by Samsonova overall tho.

    • No she didn’t all the drop shot’s when a player can’t really go the distance with volley’s…for me that’s a form of cheating…that’s just how I feel, not that she can’t play but she didn’t volley, just drop shots

    • Wasn't so great on her (Samsonova's) part, she almost lost against one of the most dominate players (Osaka) in the game. If she played Osaka at her once high level, she would have stood no chance of winning

  • Osaka, your movement on the court is horrible and you keep giving back the ball to Samsonova instead of away from her as she was doing constantly against you. The few times you really move her around the court you won the point. Her serve sometimes had you moving way the sides to receive and you gave the ball right back to her knowing fully well you couldn’t move back in time to play the ball. The few times you really placed her service returns you won the point but then you went right back without capitalizing on those occasions. With your present slow movements around the court you should focus on placements and create incredible angles which you can, but presently your rallies are not giving you the success you had in the past. So until you’re fully back with superb rallies Osaka needs to reinvent herself and really mix up the game, having the opponents confused, constantly thinking what will she do next. No need to be discouraged or disappointed, I believe in loosing to win so keep moving forward experimenting on different possibilities and see the outcome. You have nothing to loose considering where you’re presently!

  • OK MAMA Osaka, I see you coming.. dont rush anything please, know you went thru a lot, take your time, dont get hurt trying to do too much too early. You be fine in due time, later, take it easy, and bring that body back to where you want it to be. I know your still struggling with that extra baby fat, I see your head bopping slightly again on the serve, it not there yet, but i see great improvement. Take it easy until all the pcs. fall into place. You should be fine or just about by the time for the US Open. I can sense it.
