I would really recommend the Lake Breakdowns If you are new to fishing electronics, sidecan/downscan/livesonar. I got one for my home lake and it definitely save me a lot, a lot of time in the water. Or dead areas. From there is just a matter of practicing. Once you know what something looks like on the bottom, you can scan new areas knowing what to look for. When you’re new it can be hard to know what you’re looking at. Specially when you are being self taught.

I've only had a boat for a few years now, but trying to get a handle on how to position it at a brushpile depending on wind direction so my wife and I can fish from the side of the boat instead of the front. Getting there, wish we could get out on the water more often!
It take some time to get used to it for sure! Boat positioning is super important and I get impatient waiting for it to get right lol
It's that time 👌It seems like the thermocline is starting on the smaller lake I fish every fish is 15ft and up on structure, that or sediment from all the rain showing up 😑
I think I saw a really shallow thermocline myself the other day. I couldn’t tell if it was that or stuff from the rain like you said. Doesn’t seem hot enough for a thermocline but who knows lol

When you get on top of them they definitely know it, I need to be better at boat control myself, when you catch a few and don’t realize your boat is moving towards the structure it’s too late, if you hit the trolling motor when your on top of it, it scares them, but they will come back. You will know because the bite will not be the same.😊
Will not bite the same means not as aggressive as they was before you ran on top of them.😊
I have noticed this with black crappie in clearer water and they have to be pretty high up in the water column. Most of the time, I don’t find it to be an issue

Best places for catching them post spawn without a boat right now would be the pillars on the ends of bridges and marinas/docks 👍🏼
