We all know that it was 4-1 Islam. But 2 of 3 judges gave him 3 rounds only. He beat Volk in his own game, in his own backyard and not even in his best physical condition. Volk was eying for that physical weakness in Islam but his mentality was so strong that it was enough to crush Volk's win-streak and his dream of being a double champ. Moral victory and huge respect to Volk though. And nothing else indeed.

Cant really be P4P if there is an argument for the condition that if Volk was a natural 155, he would of won. The whole point of P4P is if everyone can be magically adjusted to be in the same weight, who is the best fighter? What we saw was Islam struggling against a small natural 145er. So even though he may had won, he is not the P4P because it is not clear if he can still beat Volk if he did not have a size advantage. Another way of putting it is Volk can make 155 and give Islam a tough challenge. Islam can't make 145 and even if he did, he would be to drained to stop Volk in the later rounds.

Without Khabib was like taking off the training wheels. In fairness he went into that fight 2kg less than his normal fighting weight thanks to bullshit 24 hour recovery time. Even Alex was licking his lips when he mentioned this, confident he was going to beat a weaker-than-normal Islam. He failed. This alone justifies p4p#1 for Islam.

For people wondering why he is not making eye contact with the interviewer, It's because in Islam we believe that eyes sin that's why he was doing it Respect to Islam for representing Islam as it is
He looked at her everytime after he finished the answer, some people don't like staring at somebody while talking especially while giving an interview. Also there were fights going on in the back on a tv. In my culture in Europe its weird to stare at someone while talking, while here in America its weird to not stare at somebody while talking.
He wants a real challenge and sounds like he is not afraid to fight anybody unlike jon jones who chose the easiest heavyweight matchup with someone with no wrestling. Also I think islam took it easy on volk in the first 2 rounds to get a hard match and show his stand up. It was a great experience for islam and he is beating volk easier next time if they ever fight again.
Gane is suddenly an easy matchup with no wrestling. That wasn't the case before the fight. He didn't choose it, UFC booked them against each other. I agree about Islam's performance with Volk but seems to me that he still didn't learn that was a mistake. That' could be a problem, if he is gonna do that with guys like Dariush or Arman (Fiziev too) he is gonna get knocked out.
That tells how good chandler is.. He has everything.. Every single skill and he's almost complete but he doesn't really know how to fight cleverly with IQ he's only explode gas out and lose but he was making a hell of a fights.

He is now underestimated because of how well Volk did. Volk did good enough to maintain p4p, but Islam will smash anyone in lightweight except possibly Benny. If Dustin or Justin get another title shot Islam will beat them easily. If Conor gets an undeserved title shot having not won a lightweight fight since 2016 Islam will absolutely maul him. After he beats these guys easily he and Volk will get the credit they deserve. If Benny can’t beat him he will keep the belt for a decade. I really want to see him fight at welterweight. Kamaru, Colby, and Khamzat would be a real competitive challenge for him. I look forward to his future. See Him
Only Anderson Silva and Jon Jones could keep their blets for a decade. The lightweight division is so stacked, it's difficult to see someone be that dominant in the next few years. Dariush; the rematch with Oliveira; Fiziev; Gamrot; the rematch with Tsarukyan. If Makhachev beats Dariush & Gamrot then gets 2-0 against Olives & Arman, he can retire in peace, cause no one will reach his level of dominance in the LW division.
