Other than Mario, the majority of refs do a great job the vast majority of the time. It was a toss up stoppage imo.
For sure. And when you're responsible for other people's health, it's better to err on the side of caution in a toss up like that. Can't be too upset with the stoppage.

He's so on point. The situation changed drastically. One one frame dom was getting pounded with unanswered shots but on the other he gets on his feet. Its a tough call man.
Keith should've said hey if you would've got up sooner or just not got hit I wouldn't have made that call.

Amazing insight into the stoppage. Yes, Cruz trying to get up happened in a split second, and a sudden split second at that. By that time he had received so much punishment, but then the sudden unexpected attempt to get up....can't fault Keith's decison after Herb's explanation.

Man this stoppage was one of the weird ones where I can go either way. Watching it live in real time I thought it was premature..then watching the replay I agreed with the stoppage...THEN realizing there was only TWO seconds left in the round in a CHAMPIONSHIP fight and seeing Dom was fine after the stoppage, I found myself disagreeing again lol If the sequence happened in the middle of the round I'd be ok with it...but it happened with 2 seconds left...so in hindsight I say the ref should have let the round end. But don't blame him or anyone for it. It's a hard job reffing.
I really like Herb. He just seems to be a good straight up guy that I would like to be friends with.

He was starting to get up as well imo, while Cejudo was throwing a lot of fast punches quite a few them weren't actually connecting so that's why it was a bad stoppage for me.
The Billbo Cejudo was going to continue to spark Dom the next round anyways and win that fight regardless.

And maybe Dominick was not standing back up while he was being battered, but a case of his legs twitching involuntarily and they just straightened up, haha!

I love Dom and wanted him to beat the cringe king and after the fight (my friends and I concluded) that if there was 1:50 remaining on the clock, it would have been stopped no question, but since there was like 1-2 seconds left it’s different.

That's what I initially felt but time should never factor into a ref's decision to stop. Might be an extreme example but what if a ref wanted to stop a fight but saw the guy only has 2 seconds left in the round so he lets it play out, and the fighter ends up dying from the additional unprotected shots during those 2 seconds..
If you take issue with a ref stopping a fight close to the bell then you have to go back and re-consider tonnes of fights. Its not uncommon for fights to be finished near the bell because that's when fighters go hard. Look at Mcgregor vs Mendes, if I recall correctly the ref stepped in with only a few seconds left in the round. Of course, Mendes (like Cruz) was covering up and could have obviously weathered the storm, but that's not the point. As soon as you get knocked down and you start taking several shots to the head in a helpless position, the fight has to stop, regardless of whether the ref thinks you can weather the last few seconds of the storm.
You do have a point, however when a fighter is getting punched repeatedly without defense, the time left in the round isn't the primary thing in the ref's mind, instead it would be the sudden change of situation in front of them.

It doesn't matter how long was left. At the point he decided to stop the fight Dom looked out and was taking heavy unanswered blows. He came round just as the ref stepped in.

Just as he stops it dom comes too and responds. I think it was a great stoppage but sometimes things change in a split second, can't blame the ref for that.

That could be it. Just about every store is out of hand sanitizer, disinfectants, & anti-bacterial soap. It has to be going somewhere. The smell might normally be gone in "20 seconds", but not when a lot of people are probably doubling/tripling their normal hand washing & cleaning routines.

That's also true, the criteria was met. That's not what I said. Herb has the experience and situational awareness to not make that choice and would have let Cruz get all the way up or get dropped again. He chose his words to not bury his colleague because he's the man but c'mon, we all know.
