Meal Worm Farming(The PROCESS)

I visited a Meal Worm Farm in Nebraska called JORD Producers to see the life cycle of meal worms. Jord producers has a variety of clients ranging from wild bird enthusiasts to fisherman to gardeners. Everything they get out of meal worms is used in some sort of way. I like to use them for ice fishing bait.

  • I started mealworm farm 6 months ago, nothing crazy just to save money feeding my Leo. Looking to make it more efficient and this has given me some great ideas

  • Great video. I love the farm. I don't know what camera you are using but I suggest switching to any higher end smartphone with image stabilizer instead of it. They usually have great autofocus and you could use a gimbal stabilizer for extra smooth videos and you can attach that to a tripod as well for static shots.

  • Good morning my friend! I would like to know from you, if by putting the worms separately in the pots, I can leave them there until they become mature black beetles. The intention is only to put them together when they are all of reproductive age. That way, I will have a certain date to remove them from the substrate and the daughter larvae will have an approximate size pattern. Of course they will have food and moisture in the pots. Is it possible? Thanks!

Do you perform separation of larvae, pupae or beetles? Do you separate by sex? How do you calculate the production? What type of substrate do you use? The same for larvae and beetles? Thank you very much in advance.
