The Ritom power plant in Ticino, which was built in 1920 and is located only a few kilometers from the Gotthard Tunnel, is in need of renewal. Since 2018, a number of contractors from the Marti Group have been working on this overall complex renovation on behalf of Ritom SA.

  • The production value on this was simply amazing. I love the transitions between simulation and real-life. I also appreciate - as someone who's worked on oil drilling rigs and all sorts of heavy industrial areas - the mention of how hard the work is and the working condition for the crews. That part often gets left out of those videos, as they tend to focus more on the engineering and technical aspects of these projects. It's difficult to make someone who's never worked in those conditions appreciate exactly how loud, dirty, heavy, hard, dusty, and dangerous the work really is, day in, day out, from start to finish. All I had on site were handtools so I did my best to get it right. I use my Sylvac Mikron to find the exact spot and mark it with a center punch. I measure and it's spot on. I grab the smallest drill bit they had in their tool box and drill a tiny pilot hole, measure, and it's spot on. Then I take a 2,5mm bit, drill a larger pilot hole, measure, and it's absolutely perfectly centered where it needs to be. So I take the 6,8mm bit, drill, measure and the hole is off by almost 3mm. Off into the trash the part goes. I went home early that day.

  • This is one of the most perfectly created real life video / animated educational documentaries I’ve ever seen - combined with audio of a voice that isn’t annoying or difficult to interpret and set to a speed that isn’t sluggish or boring or long drawn out - in other words , Awesome !

    • Oh! While you are here I have a quick question: Do you think that mixing graphene into our concrete will improve its durability? Also do you think the concerns about the impermeability of concrete, its carbon and energy usage, and its aesthetics are valid? Do you think these have ways of mitigation or will their flaws just have to be dealt with.

  • The most awe-inspiring video I've ever watched on KZhead. I've now watched this video about four or five times. It is incredible, and I return to this video not just to marvel at the miracles of tunnel engineering, but also because it is so inspiring. The Marti Gruppe simply refused to give up, despite overwhelming obstacles that surely would have caused a lesser company to pack up and go home. My sincerest congratulations to all those responsible for this great victory. I wish I could shake hands with a few of them. A real tribute to the human spirit. Well done! Then there's the quality of the animation and the narration. Also just outstanding in all respects. A real pleasure to watch. Ingenious ways of showing the problems and solutions to very complex geologic situations encountered by the TBM. Perfect editing and blending of real video with animation to keep the viewer both informed and amazed. Hats off to all of you. Wish I worked for Marti!
