@@shekharpatnaik9194 I beg to differ. I have a feeling this is the start of a very big and very important change in the kpop community. Yes, there will always be toxic fans. Yes, there will always be opposition. But those people would end up being disregarded not unsimilarly to how sasaengs and homophobes would be ignored. Already, HyunA and Dawn are making big, good waves in the media's portrayal of idol couples. It's only a matter of time before the hateful become the minority. They might yell a lot, but they don't have the biggest voice. And even if this doesn't change anything, that doesn't mean we can't step up and try to stop it. Evil only prevails when the good stop fighting.
I love the way Kpop idols nowadays are trying to normalize “dating” . They are humans, they fully have the right to love and be loved by whoever they choose. Fan culture is also changing, too. The majority of fans now are becoming more respectful and understanding towards artists. That’s why some of the artists now can feel comfortable enough to share about their private life (for example, jennie gave the @ of her private account on instagram, jihyo and daniel confirmed dating rumors)

It’s great that they are not hiding their relationship and breaking the stigma of idols dating. I know this may come across as a cultural difference thing but the whole dating ban aspect of Kpop should have never even happened in the beginning as it only encouraged the idea of the ownership of idols with certain fans/the more extreme ones. And the fact it’s more strict towards woman is ridiculous as if women can’t work and strive while being in a relationship theirs nothing wrong with people experiencing their love and affection
Einon G It also creates a stigma that dating itself is somehow bad. I mean, if the people you look up to are shamed for doing so, wouldn’t that make you want to avoid it as well? Or rather, result in negative connotations around dating? It’s not like they’re being completely, what’s the word I’m looking for? I guess open? Like, they aren’t giving every nitty gritty detail or engaging in inappropriate behavior (like being “nasty” in public like some are wont to do), so I don’t understand why it’s so bad for idols to date. Shouldn’t it be seen as a good thing to get out there to try and find love?
Channy Whocares True. It’s real difficult to understand another culture in this aspect.
Honestly it's unhealthy. You can love your idols but the moment you hate it when they date cause you 'ship' them with someone else or stop them from pursuing any kind of romantic relationship just because you want them to yourselves (eventhough they don't know you and may never know you) it becomes obsession. And its really crazy cause their artists (singers, song writers and performers) not some toy that exists for you to maniulate and decide their fate.
Actually a part of the reason companies enforce dating bans is so that the idols can focus on their craft without any distractions. Once the idol has proved themselves after a certain amount of time that's when the ban is lifted. Think twice for example. JYP is completely okay with idols dating but his company still enforces a dating ban for an idol's first three years so they can focus on their idol business. Once the ban is lifted, that's when the idols can date but they still don't announce it because of toxic knetz

I’m so glad that Hyuna and Edawn are basically making theirselves to be an example for other idols to not be afraid to be open about their relationships. Like both of them had backlash when this became news and even got kicked out yet they still stuck together with one another. i know hyuna and edawn went through a lot of difficulties ever since they confirmed to the public that they’re dating but its amazing how they inspired the whole industry to speak up and break the toxicity that idols cannot date the people they want to be with, i know we dont see it visibly but the fact that for the first time we see two talented artists as a couple casually sitting down in a stage to share to the public about the love they have, can have a positive impact for idols and fans. and its also one way to break this toxic culture for fans that their favs or idols cant date. i hope the fans and kpop industry would understand that love can be one of the best motivation for their idols and fav artists to continue thriving and producing songs or concepts, because they’re also humans, and everyone deserves to be loved.

I liked Hyuna when i saw her in Invincible Youth, she was so funny and kind. Her tandem with Sunny was the most hilarious. I’m so happy to see her grow as an artist and a person!

I can't even begin to put into words how much I love this couple!! I think that experiencing things and emotions as well as going through certain situations are necessary things not only for an artist but for everyone, for people in general. It helps us develop. Companies taking this aspect away from their artists' lifes is basically mutilating them. It's literally a form of violating human rights. It's just not right. It's wrong in so many ways! I really hope to start seeing more and more Idol couples and also idol with non idols being in a relationship. I doser human too and they need their freedom. They are not better or worse humans than the rest of the people. They're people too.

This is beautiful. They didn't mention courage but I think that is part of their support for each other. They made a very scary decision that impacted everything they had worked for and in a society that is very conservative. The amount of candor and love they are willing to express...well we could all learn from that, no matter where we are. I lost my husband a few years back and he was my biggest supporter. I am a photographer and writer and went back to school for writing because he supported me every step of the way. He was there for all my endeavors, so this both makes me very happy and very sad at the same time. Good for them and I wish them continuing love and success.
