Color me impressed! (Owner of this Beautiful Raider) I've had this GE78HX 13950/32gigs 5600mhz/RTX 4080 almost two weeks now and absolutely love the performance and quality touches. Sound and visuals are simply amazing. Windows 11 tries really hard to hold it back. (Getting faster and smoother with each tweaked setting) Smaller foot print to my old Asus 17.3 inch Rog Gaming G750. Thanks GizmoSlip for reviewing this hidden Gem.

Sir, when you will start using cinebench 2024? Cinebench 2024 is good or not?
Did you encounter sound stuttering issue when played Cyberpunk 2077 and racing a car over 1 hour?
RAIDER GE78HX 13VH-438US - 4080- 32gb- is 2k on B&H right now. It's it worth it?
Idk which laptop to choose, im between the legion 9i rtx 4090 or this one
Asus tuf 15 i7 rtx 4070 or rog zephyrus g14 ryzen 9 rtx 4060?
Cant findout kingston fury review, kindly tag it
I've always bought msi products. This is the first year I had to buy another brand because of how obscenely priced their initial products were. Did sold my alienware M16 locally though because I hated the whole experience with it. I hope their product price comes down a bit. But for now I'm enjoying my gaming rig. Nice vid, very informative. Keep it up!
returning my m18 as I am typing because of backlight bleeds
@@shuolangliu304 dang I was actually hoping to get the m18 but im thinking of saving up for a better 18 inch laptop instead. I currently have a gaming rig though so I can save up more I guess.
Alienware has QC issues on their display this year. Many people on the Alienware subreddit have reported the blacklight bleed issue as well. I had my display replaced once and it had worse bleeds and so I have no choice but to return it and get a laptop with better reviews.@@graelstream2353
This laptop is down to $2000 now on MSI website. Not sure how long the deal will last.
can i upgrade the nvme? is their a second slot?
Hi I really love your channel. I am looking into Lenovo legion pro 7i and it comes with 2 CPU configurations, one with Intel i9-13900hx and AMD ryzen 7945hx both paired with NVIDIA 4080. Which model would you recommend and why
I think non of the better known English speaking (gaming) laptop reviewers has tested R7945HX in the legion pro 7, yet. I have been wondering about this one as well, but no online reviews out yet.
Plissssssssssssssssss.....MSI GE78 vs Asus Scar 16, 11.11.23 I want to buy
Ordered this a couple days ago for $1,999 from B&H. I'm excited 😁. About to go on a 3 month trip and I just couldn't do it without gaming, lol. Thanks for the vid!
did you get it yet and if so did it actually come in as described and no damage? i really want to get it sooner or later off of B&H
@yovuxvuxfamroblox255 You have absolutely impeccable timing. I'm literally on my way to Fedex to return it. The one they sent me was defective, game was running with low fps and when I went into the MSI Center to switch to performance mode / discrete graphics, that ruined everything. The game would keep crashing, web browser would keep crashing, and after a hard reboot, the display wasn't even working. I hooked it up to an external display and eventually got the laptop display to work again, but I'm just over it now. Be aware, B&H also has a no-return policy on opened laptops....seriously. I insisted that I wanted to simply return it and not a swap out and they eventually said ok. Not sure if they'll try to pull something once they receive it though.
@@yovuxvuxfamroblox255 I'm no longer able to see my previous comment so not sure if it's just on my end or if it's been deleted for whatever reason. It was a pretty long comment describing my issues in detail. Basically I returned the laptop because it was defective.
Don’t buy from b&h
bought 4090 version 2 months ago This is fantastic machine
Glad you agree! Very little complain about with the laptop really. Just expensive.
What are your thoughts about getting the 4070 version with 64GB RAM? 4080 or 4090 is not available anywhere. I've watched your 70 vs 80 video but, circumstances I suppose.
A 4080 really is much more powerful than a 4070, so if you can, save up for the 4080 if you want the laptop to last long term graphics wise. A 4070 will need the settings turned down from Ultra much sooner, basically--especially if you want QHD gaming. If it's just FHD, the 4070 is plenty good enough for a while.
@@GizmoSlipTech ... and 4080 has 12GB vs 8GB of 4070M which will be too little very soon with huge textures in NG games IMHO
do you think the next year we will have better options for gaming laptops?
Probably minor upgrades only. Maybe TI versions of Nvidia cards, and slightly upgraded CPUs.
@@GizmoSlipTech Hmm don't you think it will be Super cards? I thought that was the next thing. I could be wrong obvs.
@@RixiRooTMa bit late but nvidia basically confirmed there won’t be any new laptop gpus until 2025 with the 50 series
Any update on the whole bios update issue ?
You just have to restore deafult settings of the bios then update the new firmware.
Ugur is correct. I believe my undervolt setting caused the problem even though I had set it back to 0.
Can someone help me. I can't decide asus rog scar 18 4080 or MSI Raider GE87 4080???
Man I can't choose between them either(Liquid metal scares me, but the sound from Asus makes me happy.
Can you please recommend a $3000 laptop? prio performance and display
Get a legion 7 pro 4090. It's currently $2.5k
Bro I hate something called Lenovo. Anything else pls@@dex7415
The vector gp68 13 with 1600p screen seems a better value
The thin red line. Blood sport!
Silver and Black 'da Raiders!
This vs zephyrus duo 16 vs legion 9i if money is no obstacle?
Definitely the legion 9i, main reason being from my experience I've had all the asus gaming laptops and they all have annoying coil whine and are not the best in terms of quality control. Haven't owned the ge78 in the video, so can't speak about it. I do own the titan 2022 though and is an amazing machine.
@@hybridtron6241 Thank you! Im also considering razer blade 18 since its a workpc. Feels kinda off to occasionally meet with clients and whip up a monster of a gaming laptop. Thoughts?
If you need a wrist rest for typing on your laptop, then don't get Duo 16. If you mainly want to use on a table 95% of the time, then Duo 16 is very attractive to me personally.
@@GizmoSlipTech thank you! And yes im mostly behind a desk so it’ll fit my use and i would really like to choose the duo. My only concern is all the problems i’ve read about the laptop freezing, shutting off, keyboard lock etc. Everything supposedly happens with fresh bios updates and drivers. Have you encountered anything like this? The laptop will be bough through our company for 3D work and visualizations. So even though i would love this machine, im a bit wary of buying a machine with driverissues tied to the unique design/display. Hopefully you can offer further insight. Thank you! Also to add a further question 😂 razer blade 18 or the duo 16 ?
This just makes me wonder what the hell asus is over there doing with their software and performance tuning… there’s no reason for the g18 4080 to score any less on gpu other than poor optimization. My g18 scored 17k cpu and 19500 gpu out of the box and the latest armoury crate update totally tanked my scores… wtf asus
Well… they just released an armoury crate and bios update that not only gave me back my scores, my temps are lower and fps is higher…. Got give ‘em credit for that one i s’pose 🤷♂️
@@glitchy8429what bios version is that?
I don’t know about these gaming systems but this dude can hoop!

I play hog warts on switch OLED, and honestly it’s so fun I don’t care about the quality issues 😈
Overall I think this is such a sick laptop, but the problems are. - That useless, cheap looking plastic thing under the display, in the middle. It serves no purpose other than to look cheap. - The display has horrible black levels and bad viewing angles with a red-ish tint when doing so. The back-lighting is also patchy AF.. probably the worst I have seen in years. - Those transparent keys kind of suck. They don't fully illuminate as shown in MSI pictures and you can't see the text on them very well. It also just looks cheap. - I will probably also mention that gold stripe. As Gizmo said.... why?? I agree that it would be much better if it was just all black, like the Titan. - It is not very easy to take the back cover off - risk of damage.
3200 € in Germany...🙈
Sadly I've sent two of these back now. The displays are shit with bright patches and black levels... some dead pixels etc and the second one even had a very strange noise coming from the left fan... :( Also, if you look at the display from any angle other than straight on, you start to see a red tint. Viewing angles are terrible imho. )
Lack of G-Sync pushed me away from all recent MSI laptops, sigh...
Is g sync even worth it? Ive never had it and never had any problems
@@KaelanF of course: it syncs video refresh to the actual framerate. This means less input lag and for old games and emulators (MAME etc.) perfect sync and smoothness with arcade games running f.e. at 52.7974Hz (you won't see any micro-lag as screen will be automagically in sync even at that strange refresh rate).
Man, 2600 cheapest version with 375 nits screen is just meh. But then you have to shell out the big bucks if you want the Mini-led display. I can see no reason why you wouldn't just go with the Asus G18 4080 which goes on sale for 2099 all the time and has a 500 nit display, or the legion 7i pro. The only thing this laptop has is build quality and cooler looking RGB
The legion 4080 goes on sale for like 2099.00 all the time too
I mean you can get the Legion 4090 for 2600 on a really good sale sometimes. Just not a great value for MSI unless you do like creative work and need the color gamut
Your CPU was melting itself wtf lmao
MSI laptops never look premium to me, and I've owned like three of them with the exact same styling as this, which hasn't changed in years. I guess I'm not the target audience though. Gaping gap under the screen that looks like a durability nightmare, no thanks. Unfortunately, even their business and creator focused laptops retain that angular, rough, chintzy looking overall design.
Price is crashing to zero. It's a nasty laptop. With a washed out useless display. MSI every 2023 laptop sucks because of the terrible colorized black and white display. I saw this thing at Microcenter. Blahh!!! It's like an overweight plast pile of crap. The Bride of Frankenstein laptop right next to the 2023 Titan or the Titanic. The Frankenstein Monster pile of plastic 💩 laptop! Don't waste your money. MSI went down the toilet in 2023 and is floating round the bottom of the sewer along with the HP Omen crap laptops. Mainland China (red line) garbage Laptops? 😢
