Cale Makar and the Colorado Avalanche look like they can't be stopped as Makar just went thru the whole Jets D to score a beauty goal. That and more in today's NHL hockey video!

This is a problem so many Canadian fans have been doing when we literally have nothing to brag about. Not until our WHOLE fanbase acts more respectful and just appreciates the few good moments we have instead of ruining it with hate comments, hopefully then we'll finally win something...

    • I dont think this is necessarily the whole story, but it is a huge part as to why the Jets are getting so visibly outplayed this series. In season youre spending a lot of time experimenting with styles, training, plays, etc. Sometimes it doesnt work and sometimes it really really doesnt work and correcting takes a long time if not the whole season. In the playoffs you are playing against a team that has specifically formulated every thought in their collective unga bunga brain to exploiting all your weaknesses. I think Colorado has such a better set of sharp tools in their team that when fully focused on one singluar opponent and that opponent's weaknesses, they were/are straight up able to dominate that other team. The Jets are very very good, but their goaltending was (IMO their best part) on another level for a huge part of the season and a major reason why they are in the playoffs. When it comes time to fully fine tune the team for their playoff opponents they just dont have that ability to because the tools of the lines and off/def dont have the ability to be that sharp. The best they can do is just turtle up the defence, give the Avs a lot of low % shots, and do their best to exploit any dumb weaknesses in the scrap moments with the puck. A very different game plan needed from the "do whatever and our goalie will bail us out" day to day of the regular season.

But what the Avs did was regroup, put focus on defensive and have been helping Georgie since then with falling back faster, diving for the puck and pressuring the offensive. The Jets have let Hellebuyck get in his head and think he can carry them while not changing anything.

  • Structure and effort is not the Jet's problem. The problem is they are getting outskilled and outskated at every level, across 3/4 line matchups. Colorado is skating hard and coming in waves in the defensive zone, plus they have world-beating Top pair talent, with Toews and Makar playing at an insane level. They turn the puck over, then use their speed to get up ice. Speed, size, and toughness across the bottom 9 is drawing a ton of penalities and the AVs clearly have one of the best PP talent celings of any team in the league. Fact is, when playing to their potential, Colorado should be almost unbeatable. They've played at a very high level the last 4 games, and their goaltending has matched that the last 3. That's why they are up 3-1.

    • As a Flames fan that’s excited for the draft as we try to rebuild, I’ve been paying more attention to the rest of the league this year, and I saw this coming from a million miles away. What was the percentage of people who voted for the Jets over the Avs in the community post for The Hockey Guy? It was something like 40% right? 40% of hockey fans couldn’t see past the media overhype this year about the Jets. They’re paper tigers this year, just like the Canucks have been, and just like the Oilers and Leafs are perennially. My bracket doesn’t have any Canadian teams making it past the first round, because none of them are true contenders. And even if Edmonton and Vancouver make it to the second round, it will have only been because their first round opponents were exceptionally weak this year, and in the end it doesn’t matter would win a Van vs Edm series, because the winner is just going to lose to the Avs in the conference final anyway. Literally just a waste of a few weeks. The best part is watching their fans get their hopes up higher and higher and higher so it hurts more when it all comes crashing down-which they deserve for being so insufferably toxic, in particular to our team. Imagine winning a game against a selling-at-the-deadline gutted down team that’s basically a mostly AHL team on any given night, and who’s trying to lose as many games as possible at the end of the season in order to try to get as good of a draft as possible, and then gloating about how good your team and bad our team is in the comments section. There’s a reason why the TOR, EDM, and VAN fanbases were voted so high in JFresh’s polls about which teams’ fans were the most delusional, annoying, and toxic, and yet the Sens and Flames fan bases were amongst the least disliked. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Colorado seems to be a team that succeeded with a speed and skill style where Vegas is a more conservative and physical team. If I'm wrong on that, someone please say so. I find that aspect of the game really fascinating. Also, not blaming Hellebuyck for any of this but he's won only one playoff series in his career. • Man I was hoping this year would be different for the Jets, but this is the same kinda of collapse they seem to have every year. I honestly cant even tell you why they fall apart so badly. Whenever I watch them in the second half of the season or post season, they just arent able to generate chances like they do at the start of the season. It feels like these players are not able to handle the post season increased pressure that teams put on players holding the puck, and as a result the Jets just cant generate any offense. I wish my Winnipeg boys could come through, but it feels like the Avs are just playing better. I cant even say the Jets deserve it right now.

    • Sorry, but Kadri got GOTY against the Pens on Kipper’s number retirement night. Either way though, it’s a W for Calgary, since Cale’s a Calgary boy. I have him in my bracket bringing the cup home to Calgary again this year. Likely against the Canes, but the Rags and Cats could just as well make it to the finals.

  • I don't think it is fair to put the blame on Halle. The man is playing well, were just being able to shoot a ton. Which isn't surprising to me, the Avs are able to score 20 goals in a game if needed. Just we might let 19 in. If you're not willing to attack us and punish our game, were going to score 6 goals randomly.

  • Unless you keep the Avs pinned back on Georgiev (weak link) you'll have to out score them which isnt going to happen with their attack

  • While the stats are clear, you really can’t put this on hellebuyck. He makes countless saves to keep the game close and then poor discipline and awful defensive zone coverage lead to the game falling apart for Wpg. Tough to watch for what looked like such a promising playoffs

  • Awesome goal...fluke bounce off the shinpads to start it out...Not sure if that constitutes "beating the whole team". I think he deked one guy out...or did he? 73 deked himself out

    @gordonbgraham@gordonbgraham17 күн бұрын
  • Guy rips a 3 hole, on a very good offensive rush. They should have changed defensemen lines. Put a Gnarly guy out there, with a top tier to clear the net. Not there to get penalties, but focused on the front of the net, clearing other guys.
