  • I have to agree about SVS having world class customer service. I purchased the SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer last fall direct form SVS, and just before the 45 day refund period expired, the price was reduced by $100 for a Black Friday sale. I was shocked to find out that I automatically got a $100 refund to my credit card without me even knowing about the sale or without me requesting a refund or having to do anything. I have never in my life heard of any company doing that automatically. BTW, the sub is great and very happy with it.

    • @@Jayiyagithat Tilta ring wasn't the best idea imo Hahaha I ran the RS2 in standard config with an extension during the Audiofest and it's much more versatile across those crowdy hallways 😅

      Ай бұрын
    • @ I have my reasons why I went with the Tilta ring. First is that it allows me to use v-mount batteries to power my monitor, camera, and the gimbal for majority of the day. The RS2 might be more versatile and nimble but that battery won't last 3 rooms and it won't be ergonomic for me since I'd need to have separate batteries for the monitor and camera. (which also means I have to carry around spare batteries somewhere) I shot over 1000 footages just in Montreal... Axpona is a bigger show and I'm bracing myself for it

  • A force-cancelling woofer design does not cancel any output from the opposing driver, it only cancels most of the vibration that is caused by the drivers movement. Wave cancelation would only happen if one of the drivers was accidentally internally wired out of phase, then both drivers outputs would almost completely cancel out each other out and there would be no bass at all.

  • For decades, Meridian has been doing what Daniel Hertz is now doing. It won’t catch on to general audiophiles because they love to mix and match components. Otherwise, Meridian would be the most popular brand by now.

  • Hey Jay . . . great meeting you and seeing your neat space age camera rig at the YUL show. :-) Yes, the Daniel Hertz system was truly impressive (especially considering the Chiara's small footprint but BIG sound!) along with Adrian's truly entertaining presentation. Agree with you that the Artist Cloner speaks were a miss looks wise - they may sound good but the looks would eventually be very tiring to look at in a normal household and would only "fit in" a warehouse LOL I hope that you will give the planar Diptyque speaks a mention in your part 2 because to me, they were one of the most musical at the show - super impressive bass for a Maggie type speaker and really quite beautiful to look at ! Chers and keep up the good work!

  • Jay, I’m really hoping you get to review some Bryston speakers in the future. I just heard their Middle T at a local dealer, and I think they might be the best speaker I’ve ever heard. At about $8000 US, they easily bested my buddy’s Perlisten R7Ts, as well as a $13000 pair of Proacs I just listened to. Effortless dynamics and bass, incredible sound stage and imaging, and you can stand up and walk around the room and the sound stays mostly the same.

Unfortunately, these particular Bryston speakers are not listed on the Bryston website, although there are a fair number of other Bryston loudspeakers on their site. • Dig the Artist Cloner steam-punk aesthetic, but the inclusion of the coffee shop piping, with pipe caps used as trim absolutely ruins the appeal ... to me. As someone that's been immersed in the electrical construction industry, as well as the pipe trades, ... the pipe caps misses the mark. Their use is looked down upon as being junky, sloppy, lack of forethought. Yeah, it's a niche opinion. I certainly dig the big exposed coils and elements towards the bottom. I get the appeal ... that "look" is encountered seemingly everywhere right now. Roastery coffee shops, craft breweries, distilleries. Thinking ... perhaps this says more about me! Jay, its worth noting your video from capture to submission, is just stellar.
