Welcome to Super Mario RPG Part 1! We begin our new Super Mario RPG Remastered adventure with Princess Peach being captured by Bowser! Mario reaches Bowser's Castle to save her, but soon after Smithy the giant sword crashes through the castle sending Mario flying!

Set out on a classic Mario adventure
Enter-or revisit-a world of whimsy with Mario on a quest to repair Star Road and defeat the troublemaking Smithy Gang. Team up with a party of unlikely allies, like the monstrous Bowser and a mysterious doll named Geno, in a story-rich RPG packed with laughs and quirky characters.
A strange party unites to save Star Road
Meet the team of oddballs setting out to thwart the troublesome Smithy Gang and protect everyone’s wishes. Even Bowser is lending a claw!
Mario
The hero of the Mushroom Kingdom who always jumps in to help. Mario serves Fireball and Jump specials to stomp all over enemies.
Princess Peach
The beloved ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom who is…missing?! Once found, Princess Peach supports the party with healing and staggering status effect specials.
Bowser
The King of the Koopas who lost his Keep to the invading Smithy Gang. Bowser uses his might and mischievous minions to overwhelm his enemies.
Mallow
A young frog (despite appearances) and the grandson of the Frog Sage. Mallow unleashes the destructive power of weather onto enemies, while healing his allies with rain.
Geno
A powerful protector of Star Road taking the form of a humble doll. Geno puppeteers his own style of moves, like Geno Beam and Geno Boost.

  • 27:36 the english localisation has had some various changes from the original SNES version. This little girl was hoping to marry Mario when she grows up.

  • For Leveling up- It's your choice you can make Mario a Physical attacker or Special Attacker or all of them at once (I know you decided to cycle with them all)

  • FP in this game is a shared magic pool. Characters dont have individual FP bars, so you dont need to save it for other characters. However, I'm pretty sure that Flower items both increase the max FP and HEAL FP to full. So in that sense, they're worth saving for when you need restore it.

  • A bit of a fun fact about the enemies in the game: A lot of their names weren't translated in the original release, causing them to have names that sounded quite odd. In this remake, they fixed up a lot of the names, but some were kept the same. (Like, The Terrapin enemies were originally called "Koopa Soldiers" in the Japanese release) I hope you have a lot of fun with this game!

  • 33:13 so in the original SNES game, the chest is on top of the ledge with the door. And tnis momemt right here was actually your only opportunity to get it - you had to jump on Toad's head, and if you miss it, it was permamnelty missed. Don't worry, this remake will give you another opportunity to reach up there. Just come back a little later, and there will be another Toadfor you to jump on.

  • Hello Zebra! I’m glad to see you’re doing this series. Just like you, I… have never actually played the original version before, since this game is one that was originally released before my time. I also never owned a Wii U (or by extension, the Virtual Console), and I don’t have Nintendo Switch Online, so I didn’t have a way to play the game. But I hear it is one of the best Mario classics, considering how it paved the way for future Mario RPGs. I’m not usually one for playing the RPG games (the Mario + Rabbids series was the only exception). But I look forward to following along with these series.

  • you'll likely see this at some point, but if you use an item in combat, you might see 'got a freebie!'. If you do, that simply means the game gave you the item's full effect without actually consuming it.

  • So in the original SNES version of the game, you inventory had a limit on the total items you can carry. I think it was 30 items or something. But apparently in this remake, each item has its own capacity, like 10 for Mushroom and 6 for Pick Me Up. I guess you wanna pay attention to that information in the item descriptions, in the menu and in shops.

  • I hate to admit it, the only way I was able to play the original was through an emulator. Regardless, I'm surprised how much of the English text was kept the same, considering that the localization for the original game was done by ONE GUY. I very explicitly remember bowser saying "It's a chain reaction!"

  • My mother actually owns the original SNES cartridge for Super Mario RPG. I tried playing it on a SNES classic, but it doesn’t seem to wanna work. I tried seeing if the game was available to play on the SNES app for Nintendo Switch Online, but still no luck. I eventually gave up. But now with this remake, I’ll have another shot at playing the game, even if it isn’t the original SNES version.

  • wanted to let you know about an easter egg. since you wont find it on your own, here's a tip on how to find it: so during exploration, open the menu. then input the following string of buttons: DOWN UP RIGHT LEFT L R L R B. then see what happens.

  • Hey, I just wanted to say. That the gauge moves will change depending on who you have in the party. At the time it stays As a totalist for now, but more people are hav. Ing your party and who you haven't. There will change them move and the animation that goes with them as well. This is a new feature that wasn't in the original game. All new to this remake. Don't know if this century thing is new or not though

  • I think you have the first you seconds of the intro missing. It just starts with "...to Super Mario RPG", missing on the usual "Hello, Zebra Herd! Welcome...".
