This video demonstrates the technique of placing and removing surgical staples. It is part of the Apprentice Doctor suturing course.
I’m at the doctor waiting for them to remove 21 staples from my knee. I was so nervous until I read all of the comments and watched the video. Thanks so much for your comments. They are getting me through it.

Got these removed from my abdomen. Was a bit nervous but it went pretty well, I hardly felt anything. So for those who are gonna get theirs removed, it's not gonna hurt. And if at all you do feel uncomfortable, there is always local anesthesia to get you through.
Cant wait to get mine out at the end of this month. Expecting it to be relieving

Getting mine out tomorrow, pretty nervous but ready to put that entire surgery behind me and live my life. Its been a LONG 3 weeks since the operation and I'm ready to feel normal again!

@@haribabu1805 omg no pain at all!! My incision scarring is almost completely healed now!! Had 25 staples and it only took about 5 minutes!!

Will it hurt while removing?
Had over 60 removed today. Video was informative when I watched it a day or two ago. Not much pain at all when they were removed. Any pain was similar to being lightly poked by a pine needle.
Getting mine out today. I have 10 stitches on my abdomen. Comments are helping me to stay strong.
I've gone through a Bladder Augmentation Cystoplasty 2 weeks ago, has been a painful experience for a few days because of dressing, tubes removal and tomorrow finally, they are gonna remove the pins. I'm a bit nervous but hope it will be less painful than I'm imagining.
getting 16 of these removed frome my ankle next monday. im kinda nervous because I passed out in the previous appointment with my doctor when he was cleaning the wound, so im hoping everything goes well.

Just had my staple removed and was nervous. But it's was so easy I barely felt them being removed. The doctor said someone had hit her one time while removing her staples.

I got shot right next to my heart and had surgery now i have 27 of these from my bellybutton to my chest get them removed in 2 days wish me luck!

9 removed from lower back today. Sensitive area so some hurt but overall not terrible. Two or three felt like a mild bee sting and the rest were like plucking hairs.
@anything hurt a little to sit or lie down on. Couldn't do most routine tasks because of the surgery not the staples. Staples didn't cause bleeding
I just have going through this😭.but the skin doesn't join again after removed the pin.what will be the next step
I had 23 remove from my tommy 2 days ago. no anesthesia. but it was too painful. it was a bit uncomfortable but it went well.

I can't believe that there are people here in the comment section who had a painless experience when having their surgical staples removed. I envy you guys so much. My doctor removed 4 staples after my caesarian procedure and it was the most PAINFUL experience I ever had in my life. And this comment is coming from someone who experienced patella dislocation at least 5 times already where the doctor had to drain blood from my knee with a four-inch needle without anesthesia.
With the right removal clip/pliers - it should not be excruciatingly painful.
After stapler removal will the thread like thing be removed?
Not sure what you refer to - but if any suture thread was used - yes - it will be removed as well.
Monday I'm going to get removed my staples from my abdomen I'm nervous about it
I have always wondered how surgeons apply staples. I had them a couple of times in my life after major surgeries.

Do those incersion points leave scars. Could anyone please confirm, I have under my chin area with three staple pins. The feeling of scar being formed does not leave my head😢😢

95% of cases "no." Usually fairly painless.

Getting mine removed from my scalp on the 22nd. My head hurts so bad and it’s so itchy and I cannot wait to be able to wash my hair again
How did you go? I have 12 in my scalp. Get them removed next week. I've been very itchy too!!
@@mystuffhasson6475 the initial removal is the hard part. No anesthetic, no numbing the area; you will feel everything. Some of them will sting like crazy, the others come out pretty painlessly. If there is a scab, do not pick at it (if you have dermatillomania, this is going to be torturous). It will erode with time. Leave it alone for another 2 weeks, and then go back to normal, it should be safe to wash. Good luck, I’m wishing you the best
I removed them myself from my scalp. But before just washed my hair carefully!
Just imagine going in for major surgery and the last thing you hear before you wake up is this music starting up.
I was all prepared but nervous to get them or atless some removed. Then the Dr said I'm having a reaction to something so they don't want to removed anything yet. So I have to wait another week.
Gonna get 37 of these bad bois removed out of my knee in just a couple of days, had to see what the removal process looks like so i dont panic too much
Mind me asking what surgery you had? Im 2 weeks post op from an ACL reconstruction and I have both staples and stitches, although I’m not sure how many. I hope you heal well!
@@benurschel2258 Me too had acl surgery 10 days ago and having staple stitches, gonna remove after a week hope it will not hurt and heal better

Busted my head open yesterday and it only hurt one time and I get them removed within one to two weeks and I was trying to figure out if it would hurt to get them removed
Looks more painful - a few small ouch-es is possible

I had 20+ removed from my ankle. I got scared after seeing my ankle incisions that I got blank. But did couple of ouches while nurse was taking them out.
Had the top of my scalp stapled back together think it was 5 or 7 idk, but it made me super woozy when they took them out. It didn’t hurt just felt really odd

I've never had Staples before and after a surgery on June 1st I'm having mine removed tomorrow. I've been told it doesn't hurt too much but that sure looks painful

@@bloodbath4087 not to bad, one of the staples was ready to come out on its own so that was the only painful one. However my arm won't go straight and rehab is going to be 3 long months
@@bloodybeetrootsily Dang dude that sucks. I just got mine removed from my leg yesterday. I had a 3 inch long and 2 inch deep cut from a hockey skate during a practice. I was fortunate enough to miss the muscle though so I am doing pretty good. I wish you luck with your recovery!

Actually I don't know how many staples are putted by doctor on my legs yesterday during surgery actually previously 26 stitches are in my leg and that painful so this time I am feeling scared

We will be bringing out these arms for suturing and stapling practice soon - not sure - but between $20 and $30 per arm. We will be following up with a non-suture wound closure kit (staples, glue, steri-strips, and zip ties - early next year - I think the kit plus arm - is $50 approx. Thank you!

In 2 weeks I will get 19 removed on my head because I had an accident at school and cut my head open but luckily it wasn't wide
I remmber in school we bet one kid 20 bucks to use the stapler on his hand. He did but we got into alot of trouble for that. Ain't gonna lie tho it was hilarious I still laugh about it

Ok so Yk those gymnastic bars/monkey bars. So I was playing tag with my cousin and I was bolting at him at the speed of light and I didn’t see the poll cuz u was focused on my cousin and BAM. Slammed my head into it and blood was every where. They also thought I crushed my finger but I got a blood blister and no idea how I got it. Probably just happened when I fell. But I got 5staples and I’m getting them removed on next Tuesday and I’m scared D:

I removed my c section staples in my bathroom by hand. If a doctor cant remove these painlessly you are going to the wrong person

Why would you staple a patient when you can use thread which is way easier and more painless to remove?
Stapling is really quick - and offers magnificent wound margin eversion. Removal in experienced hands is quick, with minimal pain and discomfort. I suppose it is in the hands and preferences of the operator - like a lot of other things :)
Staple is quite easy, quick and painless. Its removal is super smooth. Speaking on account of experience.
Why wouldn't the surgeon use surgical glue instead of staple..
