  • Today I received a shock in a football match by non other than simply hitting my knee on the ground. It was quite a surprising experience. My vision got all bright, as if the intensity of sun had increased. My hearing ability got down and was hearing something like "eeeee". And of course, I was dizzy as hell. But recovered after I stood still for a while

  • Can "Shock" be applied to someone who is a witness or experienced something traumatic (More mental than physical) You mentioned all physical reasons someone could go into shock, so I feel my assumption of shock could be incorrect.

  • I"m taking a SJA Level 3 course right now and they stress that during Shock that we MUST remember to give them oxygen...why isn't this mentioned?

    @monami5658@monami56585 жыл бұрын
    • Because 99% of first aiders wouldn't usually have access to oxygen or be qualified to use it even if they did.

      @richardpearce4521@richardpearce45215 жыл бұрын
    • Most First Aid info is also behind on the use of the modified Trendelenburg position (ie laying flat with feet raised) for treating shock. It is no longer an acceptable practice to treat shock in this manner. The data indicates that raising the feet does not significantly provide enough of a rise in BP to treat shock and raising the feet may, in some patients, cause more harm.

  • What do you do if the cause of shock is internal bleeding?

    @chibiwolf8420@chibiwolf84203 жыл бұрын
    • I'd say there is not much you can do. Turn their head to the side so that if they were to vomit (blood or other fluid), it won't choke them. Pray that the ambulance comes soon. If the shock develops rapidly and gets more severe, there's nothing a first aider can do sadly.

In all seriousness I was thought through a high school class if they DON'T have any injuries to there legs you can carefully elevate there legs 12"- 18" using books.....a full back pack....jacket..............or your emergency folding chair
