Top 25 Worst Plays of the 2021 College Football Season
A compilation of the top 25 worst plays from the 2021 college football season. This list includes epic fail trick plays, embarrassing mishaps, and game losing mistakes. The order of this list is entirely based on my opinion as no metric was used to rank the plays. Watch all ten minutes to relieve some of the funniest moments from this past college football season including Florida State's kicker missing the ball on an onside kick and a Louisville player dropping the ball before crossing the goal line. Let me know if there are any plays you would add to the list. Enjoy!

Let me know if there are any plays I should have added. Finding the bad plays is actually a lot harder than finding the good ones.
You could've put GT's game losing play against Miami on here, where a low snap resulted in Jeff Sims taking an accidental knee, along with flags flying all over the place. Or you could've put however many 3rd and 16s BC converted against us. Although, seeing Florida State as the ACC rep here is hilarious.
You missed the Florida ST defense brain farm against Jacksonville St.
If you look up duke offense then you will find many bad plays!
Number 7 was sure funny for me
How about 25 worst/best plays over the decade
I will seriously never understand how often guys let go of the ball before crossing the goal, its just so avoidable and there's no reason to do it anyway.
They just have to look cool. They CANNOT HELP IT!!! Cannot
If i was a coach and u did that your running 15 miles see if you do it again
It happens at least once a year and it is shocking every single time
Automatic LOSS OF SCHOLARSHIP!
It's called pulling a DeSean Jackson
the fact that dropping the ball before getting into the end zone happened that many times last season is absolutely hilarious 😂 and man, Brock Purdy.. to have more than one game changing blunder in your final college game.. pain💯
Brock Purdy has had some... questionable moments lol. See the TCU pick six.
Must have never heard of Adrian Martinez
Brock Should of just slid instead of trying to do something special
Yea. And we drafted him
I agree with the call staying a touchdown but Kenneth Walker III a RUNNING BACK was super close to doing it against Michigan. Michigan state ended up winning by less than a touchdown. Could of been why Michigan state lost.
The last one is every QBs worst nightmare
@Alex Ebert he probably didn’t frfr
He totally brainfarted it.
Well the last guy who did it got signed to an 84 million dollar contract.
And why was the field goal unit not in that's what made it number 1 qb should have never been in at that situation except to hold for the kick
D3 QB, what do you expect?
I feel so worst for colorado state. There was nothing inherently wrong with the decision to kick a field goal there and you can tell them rushing is what caused the miss :(
I'm a csu fan (for better or worse), and I was screaming at my TV to just spike it ! Everyone's brain shut off at the same time
That was some headass coaching right there
@@Bdiers Steve Addazio moment
@@carterf3585 😂
But you didn’t need to, rushing the field goal kicking team on absolutely effected that kick. Spike the ball, allow your kicker to be able to set up and go through his motion.
6:04 I love how these were the first points of the season. The official didn't even make the right signal for the safety.
John O’Neil, screwing up even when he makes the right call.
@H b.34 I guess it was muscle memory for him, since usually that's the signal you make on an illegal forward pass penalty. How the hell often do you see an illegal forward pass from your own end zone?
I just noticed! Loss of Down LOL.
I guess the thing is that an illegal forward pass usually leads to a loss of down, so maybe it was just muscle memory on the part of the official.
I never thought my university would be the benefactor of the worst college football play of the year
Lol my cousin goes to plattville, he has to be the victim of this 🤣
@@SourLovesGames I go to La Crosse, but I wasn’t at that game
That’s funny asf
I thought he meant Harvard because he’s Ryan Fitzpatrick
@@juliepierson3983 🫠
It hurts my soul when I see players drop the ball right before crossing the goal line like JUST HANG ON TO THE DAMN BALL
You immediately turn into steve spurrier or any other country coach.
Should be an automatic cut
Nah - I enjoy the Idiocy.
i think its funny, people are super arrogant
I just think "Serves you right for DeSean-ing instead of getting the job done."
Absolutely wild that 2 plays from the same bowl game involving the same 2 players are on this list. Even as a Clemson fan, gotta feel for Brock Purdy there. Tough way to end an overall great career at ISU.
i was there when it happened and just typical brock purdy play man :(
@@GhostNinjaCuBeE Yeah he had a few of those types of plays in his career. I remember that TCU play pretty well. Great player that would just make a boneheaded decision every once and a while
That GameChicken thumbnail got me to click. After seeing the FSU and two ISU plays I was racking my brain for what CU play was gonna be like #3 and ruin it
Man, that play represented that entire season for state. So many of the right ideas and setup, but instead of putting together a great thing it ended up being a painful letdown.
Man said IM FINNA THROW THIS PICK😂😭
Shoutout to Penn State’s special teams for showing up twice with stupid-ass fakes for no reason.
you can literally see the difference between 1st half of season PSU and late half of season PSU. That Iowa game destroyed our hopes, and that Illinois game destroyed our ability to think logically.
@@bigzm9266 I think the "think logically" boat sailed in the third quarter of the Iowa game when no one decided try whoever is QB3. I've also forgotten who backs up Clifford as a traumatic coping mechanism.
@@Alxnick It is no longer him. Drew Allar is second string, Christian Vellieuxe (or however you spell it) is third string. Vellieuxe played against Rutgers last year, if you remember that. Both are far superior to Taquon Robeson (the Iowa game), though he was clearly not prepared.
Both Troy and SC fans aged probably 50 years watching this game. Most painful game. 💀
I can vouch for this.
7:05 That play single-handedly sums up Vanderbilt's entire football program for pretty much its entire existance.
Pain
They weren't always awful though.
@@justinshavers4692 yeah, from the 1890’s to the 1920’s they had a pretty good run
idk, they looked pretty good last night
@@andrewprovost7939 that was crazy! How great would it be if they had a surprise run this year?
Number 2…….the SC player looking on in disbelief even after it’s clear as day. Lol. Ya dude. You did it.
9:05 bros reaction just smoked me 😂
I lost it 🤣🤣🤣
he has to act surprised cause it was such a foolish selfish thing to do
9:07 the look on his face as if it's BS. Dude you have no one to blame but yourself.
I was laughing so hard at the face he was making!
That's my "excuse me, what?!" face
Dude has a lot of talent. None of it is between his ears
Absolutely unbelievable - making out like he didn't do it, or the video was wrong!
Gotta love off-season PSC
On the review, that S Carolina player looked like he was surprised that you had to have the ball in your hand when you break the plane. 😂🤣💀
It pains me to say this, but you'd think after what Kaelin Clay did against Oregon that people would know to hold onto the damn ball until you cross the goal line.
He wasn’t even the first, Desean Jackson did it back in I think 2008 against the cowboys. No idea why guys still do it and especially at the rate it happens
@@isaacdunaway7149 Jackson first did it in the All-American Bowl when he did that flip so far from the goal line.
@@isaacdunaway7149 Style points, apparently. There's no reason for them to drop the ball right at the goal line unless it's for style points for making a huge play. It's pure hubris.
I’ve never understood dropping the ball right at the goal line. I guess some guys think it’s cool to drop it right after the goal line but I don’t get it.
@@kristianvandehei8757 It's very simple: peripheral vision. When they see no more green turf and the goal line vanishes from their sight, they think they scored and drop the ball right then and there. They don't look down and complete the process.
8:51 Guy’s face 😲
Best part of the FSU hook and lateral disaster is that the touchdown was both Clemson’s cover play AND caused the game to hit the over
One of the worst beats of the year. Especially since Clemson unders had been hitting consistently all season lol.
Double bad beat.
Thank you so much for not including the missed tackling play during the Tennessee Purdue game. It probably deserved to be on here but I've just seen it so many times and it never gets any easier to watch
I’m a Purdue fan and when I watch the highlights of that game I look away during that play because I feel for the guy.
Facts. Go vols tho
Taking a knee versus spiking the football actually happens more often than one would think.
That could be a video compilation of its own.
Easy mistake for a kid to make.
I Would Like To See Every Safety Of The 2021 College Football Season
Me: mom can i have the dolphins oline touchdown Mom: we have that play at home the play at home: 1:00
I love that thick six is entering the mainstream
i was there for that play. you would not believe how angry the home crowd was after that.
I like how Adrian Martinez said k state had the most talent he’s ever been around, yet he could be held responsible for 3-4 losses by himself in 2021
Martinez had moments where he looked good, but the amount of bone-headed decisions he made was incredible.
He has an oline at KSU though
@stephan curry 78-12
@@cadenthissongisamazingfrie9048 I’m an UGA fan. So I’d like to point out that KState has as many .500+ seasons as Nebraska since 2000
Honestly, I think Brock Purdy’s fumble was more of a good play by the Clemson defense than a bad play by Iowa State. The interception was definitely on him though.
Yes, good play by Clemson defense. But, sloppy with the ball. The defense shouldn’t have been able to strip the ball in the first place.
If I was the coach of a guy who ignorantly dropped the ball before crossing the goal line, I'd make him watch it on repeat for 3 hours.
The first points of the season being a self safety from Nebraska is fitting 😆 3-9 express
Purdy has a few plays where you wonder what he’s doing but I still love him for all he did for ISU
Thanks for your content. It helps to carry me through until football season.
Dropping the ball short of the goal line is something that always baffles me. The fact it continues to happen is crazy . .
Some of these actually made me laugh out loud. I needed that.
can we appreciate how psc is still posting these new compilations in the deadest time of the college football season
Those players dropping the ball right at the goal line must've been watching Desean Jackson highlights pre-game
As WVU fan that bad snap was infuriating. For those who don't know WV hasn't beaten OU since joining the B12 . . and this game should have been the one. Great compilation bro, your channel is great!
#10 is a perfect representation of UW's season haha
Totally agree with Nebraska having a spot on this list, but I think the punt in the wrong direction at Michigan state which cost them the entire game was worse than the punt return from Cam Taylor Britt, which was also very bad. Probably could have Nebraska in here 5 times tbh.
Could have Martinez in there 5 times 🤷♂️
Nebraska fan here; you are correct!
I'm surprised to not see the Mississippi State punt against Memphis where they didn't down the ball and gave up an easy return touchdown.
Good grief, all these guys having Kaelin Clay/DeSean Jackson syndrome (dropping the ball before crossing the plane of the goal line)...😡🤦🏾♂️ BTW, #1 had me dying...first I've heard 'brain farted' on live TV, and yeah, that definitely was a complete brain fart!!
.....you just had to bring that 1yd line play up didnt you 😂
9:15 you can hear someone just let out the most devastated "NO" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
We'll atleast Nebraskas in the top 25 for something
LMAO, low blow.
As a Clemson fan, you have no idea how much joy it brings me to see a S. Carolina guy on the thumbnail
The first one was actually amazing that he managed to avoid the sack and throw it near a receiver
Brock Purdy sure did have a rough game during that Cheez-It Bowl
That Clemson pick on Iowa was insane.
I knew LSU would be on this list.🤦🏽♂️
As an MWC fan, I’m surprised that the Colorado State miscommunication against Utah State wasn’t higher. That proves that there were even more terrible plays than that one.
This was chaotic
Max Johnson was so tough to watch as an LSU fan.
Haven't these returners learned NOTHING from DeSean Jackson?
Brock Purdy messed up his draft stock so much this year. He was projected to be the 1st QB Drafted before the season started. My goodness🤦♂️
This surpisely didn't aged well.
@@Cooljohn760Purdy interesting that Purdy was so highly rated at one point in his career. It seems that was the "real" Brock Purdy. These miscues didn't mean squat. Kyle taught him not to do that sh!t
That Washington safety-snap should be top 5; top 3 if you're taking into consideration the context. It was 4th and 10, less than two minutes left, down by one score, and while Washington may have had two timeouts left, Oregon's starting RB was averaging 7.5 yards per carry. There was no way a stop was going to happen. So to respond to that announcer, no, Jimmy Lake doesn't know more than us, he knew less. And the result was a play that epitomized the Huskies' season.
throwing a pick 6 that was deflected off of the helmet of your own offensive linemen honestly goes hard
Showboating has consequences! Great vid!
That colorado state one at #21 is baffling….
The announcer saying "it's going to be interesting if it's a touchdown" because the spread was Clemson -10 lol
1:42 not said, but it could very well be that hurrying the field goal unit onto the field played a part in field goal bring missed there. 1st down had just been obtained, and there was time to keep the regular offensive unit on the field while doing a spike. That would have provided less hurried bringing in the field goal unit.
Ok, I’m going to need at least a 3 minute video on the number one worst play. That was a gem.
I believe this is the first time I've heard the term "thick six" used, I always called it a big man rumble
The best part about number one is that one person's "NO!" being so audible over everything else lmaooo
I gotta say #17 is actually a *GREAT* play by the defense considering he punched the ball out and forced backward progress to recover the fumble on 4th down short of the 1st down marker.
Two from South Carolina... absolutely painful. Knew the Troy game would be on here though
Never watched a game that absolutely killed both fan bases that bad
Two from UofSC and three from Clemson opponents. We'll call that a full house or a high five, whichever you prefer. 🚲😋
We are so proud to be on this list (#2, away team that fumbled first)
This makes me excited for football season!!🏈🏈🏈🐘🐘🐘
7:39 I've never seen an official take back a touchdown signal in real time. 😂
Few things are funnier than a punter thinking they can juke a steam-rolling linebacker bearing down on them, only to end by being obliterated into last-week. I swear every one of them thinks they can summon their inner Marquette King.
That Vanderbilt plays sums up Vanderbilt better than anyone else could
Some of the brightest minds in this country and make knucklehead decisions. I love it
Glad to see there was only one Nebraska play in this video. Honestly, the Michigan State game where we punted to the wrong guy & he returned it for a TD, costing us ANOTHER game should have made this list also.
That LSU player at play #20 was trying to do the manequin challenge
How hard is it 2 get into the end zone 1st before dropping the ball 🏈
Oh man #1 is tough. I got friends that go to both those schools so it was a bit funny when it happened!
I was hoping Nebraska wasn't in here but I forgot about that one punt vs Illinois 😭
The fact that Auburn was on the list makes my day. Roll Tide Roll
My buddy is the pbp guy for La Crosse - the last video - and he was speechless watching that kid take a knee.
I still have nightmares about that pass to the lineman in the UVA game. Atrocious play call. And the worst part of it was that I was there to witness it in-person
Lol. The thumbnail. I was at that game and we left early. We could hear the crowd go nuts, and dint know what happened. Got to our car and watched it and just shook our heads...
Some of these excerpts reveal the problem with PWB!
That last high or lowlight happened in Wisconsin. When are players going to carry the ball across the goal line. It seems like an pandemic.
That Clemson play cost me a chance at $4,500 last year. I was so mad and in utter shock at the same time. From a gambling standpoint, tens of MILLIONS of dollars changed hands on that play, because it allowed Clemson to cover the -9 spread AND it put the game over 49 points. I know, because I took the under in a 6 team parlay. I went from a sure fire $4,500 win . . to ZERO.
The last one was remistant of the Kirk Cousins play years ago where he took a knee instead of spiking the ball At least it was only half time and they were ahead This ended the game in a loss 😂
and Cousins' team ended up winning by a bunch
We all love watching these. Then we see our own team on the field and let out an audible groan.
THIS WAS CRAZY.................
Few things are more "man, that's gotta hurt" than watching a college punter trying to make a middle-run on a fake get annihilated by multiple linebackers on special-teams.
#2 That guy's face!
It's wild how some of these plays are amazing for one team and the absolute most embarrassing for the other lol. #1 could have been beyond amazing if someone caught it, it had potential. But hooooow in today's age do guys drop the ball one inch before crossing the goal line. Love these compilations!🇺🇸🤘🇺🇸
Brock purdy plays haven’t aged well here🧐. He running the niners like a champ
Fun fact: #10 was the LAST play ever Jimmy Lake ran as UW's HC LOLLLLLL
The number 2 bloke's expression is just priceless.
My dad and I literally screamed loud enough for the neighbors to hear when the CSU kicked missed the field goal. It was the luckiest thing I think I've ever seen.
as someone who goes to all the Iowa state home games and bowl game, we call that just a purdy play. happens every game
“All that effort to get your hands on the ball then you throw it away early…..” Yup
The thumbnail from South Carolina is my GroupMe profile picture lol
If I was a coach and one of my players “dropped the ball in celebration” he would not be playing the next week.
If they aren't willing to get the job done, they don't deserve to dress out. I'd also assign them extra work as punishment for the stunt.
I have a video idea: games where neither team deserved to win i.e one team makes a mistake and then the other team bails them out by making a worse mistake
I can't believe there is finally a "worst plays" set that doesn't include my Michigan team.. Hallelujah!!
The first one though was almost complete lol
I was gonna say #8 should be #1 before I was reminded what #1 was. #8 should be #2 and #1 stays put.
7:56 if a ref dont know whats a touchdown, then theres no hope for humanity.
