The presence of so many communities in India doesn’t just mean numerous festivals, but also several New Year celebrations! Sakshi starts her New Year celebration by making Ugadi Pachadi. It's a preparation from Andhra Pradesh and also part of a ritual bhog. To celebrate the Maharashtrian new year Gudi Padwa, she makes the very local Kothimbir Vadi. Sakshi Tanwar is excited to host her friend Renuka Shahane and welcomes her with a Marathi greeting. Renuka describes the Gudi Padwa day as is spent in her Marathi home. They make Shrikhand together and also recreate a mini version of the traditional Gudi.

Yes, only neem ke phool and also we don't deliberately add so much jaggery. Life has to be balanced so the ingredients are always added in equal proportions. Secondly, some add crushed green chillies instead of crushed pepper.

In Andhra and Telangana it is Ugadi, in Karnataka it is Yugaadi. The Ugadi Pachadi has shad ruchulu meaning 6 tastes, it is to celebrate the start of Spring. We use the Tamarind from the latest harvest four sourness, the kairi, raw mango, for Tangy flavour, Banana and Jaggery from Sankrant's Sugarcane harvest for Sweet, Neem flower for bitterness, we don't add leaves, a pinch of salt for saltiness, a pinch of pepper for spiciness, coconut from the Puja we do in th morning. This pacchadi is addictive and we wait the entire year for this day, because this Pachadi is made only on Ugadi day! Nobody has covered this on any show. But thank you for the same. It is a ritual Telugu people are fond of!

In Andhra pradesh we add neem flower, raw mango,tamarind juice, salt,mirchi powder, jaggery. Six tastes of life
No one adds mirchi, we use black pepper only

In Andhra Pradesh , we don't use neem leaves while preparing Ugadi Pachadi.Neem flowers, jaggery, black pepper, salt,tamarind juice are main ingredients.We can add sugarcane pieces, bananas and grated coconut to increase the taste.Ugadi Pachadi is a festive recipe which has lots of medicinal properties and is very symbolic to different aspects of our lives. It is an exemplary example of our rich Indian culture and heritage.

In Andhra Pradesh we add small quantites of mirchi powder and salt, neem flowers, jaggery, raw mango, tamarind and banana is optional . Ugadi pachadi is blend of all six flavours
I’m from telangana, we will put only neem flowers not the leaves rest of them are same. i’ll put coconut pieces that were offered to god.
