While preparing for the Summer Olympics, the Dream Team lost a scrimmage to the 1992 Select Team featuring the nation’s most talented college players. Head coach Chuck Daly used this game to send a message that his team wasn't invincible to defeat.

The fact that Chuck Daly knew NOT to put Jordan in tells you why Jordan is the GOAT. Daly knew Jordan is a beast and wont not let the Dream Team lose
Plot twist: College kids threw the 2nd game.
Grant Hill did an interview about this several years ago. When College kids beat Dream Team, their coach didn't let MJ play the whole game. But next time they played again, Grant Hill said their team could not even pass the half court. And Jordan played the whole game as well.

Brilliant leadership by Chuck Daly. It's exactly what a team full of egos like that needed in order to ensure they didn't embarrass themselves on the world stage.

Chuck Daly was a mastermind. He humbled everybody's ego that day.

"Chris Webber was a MAN! I said to myself if there are guys like him coming in the League, then I better get out of here."
The NBA really missed out on Bobby Hurly. I still feel bad to this day about his accident. He was an amazing Talent

Those "college kids" were mostly juniors and seniors to be. Webber, Hill, Mashburn, Hardaway, Houston, Hurley, Rogers, etc. That squad was loaded.
I didn’t know this story. That’s absolute genius on Chuck Daly’s part. RIP Chuck.
