She realises her changes might be a little too extreme and thinks she needs to pull back. As someone who has suffered from a thyroid disease and never been skinny, I know what it's like to feel embarrassed to go outside and watch the scale slowly go up and up and clothes getting tighter and tighter no matter how hard you try

    • She probably tried at some point, but the sentient fat would just possess her and go back home. There′s a lot of time skips in this story, after all, and also this story is a Dr. Bob original. The real SCP just describes the woman in her current state, since the Foundarion would have no way of knowing her thought process or daily life before becoming anomalous.

  • As someone who's had some stuggle with weight and over-eating, this just hits so hard. The amount of times I've told myself "Go on, you can do this, do stuff and move around much more" or "This will be the last chocolate bar this week" or something like that. My family has not been that nice/supportive to me or my younger siblings, so taking walks, going to gym or just exercising have become an embarrasing thing to us (my younger brothers are both overweight), since they'd always laugh or talk us down. Sorry for the ramble, and the grammar. 😃

I'm not even health conscious, I've always been lucky in that way where I never had to worry or give it much thought, but the combination of phantom parasites turning me into something I revile, when it allows me to exist at all, is just terrifying to me. I doubt I'm alone either, something about this one taps into my inner fears in the same way dreams of me losing my teeth do.

    • I totally agree. It's not even a subconscious worry about getting fat. It's the notion that I lose control over myself. Whenever I do something stupid or harmful to myself I can accept that it's me making my own choices. Even if they aren't great I'm the one behind the wheel so to speak. But something else controlling me. That's scary as hell.

    • There are no upsides to being fat. Unless you sumo wrestle or live in the Antarctic in igloos. Its ugly, demoralizing, shameful, bad for your health, a hinderance that singles you out as a freak when you reach a certain size. There is a reason everyones heroes are portrayed by the handsome and beautiful - fat and ugly people are offensive to us at first glance. Most of us know better and beat such impulsive thoughts away, but they are there nonetheless. And you know others are judging you for being obese - its just human nature.

  • This is a lot like how it felt for me. In my recovery from my eating disorder, I steadily gained weight though my diet didn't change and it wasn't anomalous. Ended up at 240 lbs where I've been for the past couple of years. Despite the weight and being chubby, I work to eat healthier, eat less sugar, and watch what I do intake cause of some health issues. I honestly relate a lot to seeing this cause when I started gaining weight back, it kept going until I evened out at 240. It can feel so out of control. Even if this was cause of an anomaly, this is pretty real. And to anyone struggling with weight gain, unhealthy habits that cause issues, or any kind of eating disorder, it's okay to seek help. Part of my weight gain is related to PCOS and some health issues and my main goal isn't to lose weight, but work on the fact I'm prediabetic (already got some numbers down/normal again.) See a doctor that can help you, you never know when it's a condition out of your control and not just diet or exercise (though they are important.) And if you did start having black outs (tho it would be for another reason), a good sign to see a doctor. I sometimes have em cause of my trauma, but that's different. Either way, this video was pretty relatable minus the actual anomalous SCP aspect and it's how it can feel when recovering from an ED, gaining weight in general, or struggling with issues of weight.
