Worlds largest mega yacht Eclipse caught on video in the Caribbean

We woke up with this beast anchored behind us... Eclipse, Roman Abramovich's 557 foot monster. Despite the rumored laser camera evasion systems we got this lovely view of a one billion dollar yacht at sunrise... she's big, really big... check out the people on the "swim platform". Please check out the Belize sailing adventure here... well worth it. www.gofundme.com/3rgnic

  • You've captured some of the rarest and most beautiful film of this ship that's out there. Thank you so much for posting! Great ship.

  • Intro music from the Michael Schenker cd Temple of Rock - great choice. I was on the P&O Azura in St.Martin a couple of weeks ago and we docked next to the Eclipse. One of the crew said it cost £680 POUNDS to build

  • @duckdiver5546 - agreed... these yachts are the only thing that keeps the Caribbean islands living a modern living standard. The resorts are walled gardens, but the marine business keeps many thousands of locals working and enjoying some of the amenities that we take for granted every day. We've spent almost 2 years here and see it first hand every day.

  • Really nice shot you have hear. The anti camera system you're referring I don't think is on his ship now (obviously) it was being used/tested at the Blohm & Voss ship yard when Eclipse was being built. It does work, but not on all types of camera. And yes, the music is really nice. :-)

  • I can't find interior pictures/videos of the Eclipse. This thing is beautiful. It's half the size of the Disney Magic but of course the Magic has 2,000 people on it. Man, I'd love to own even a 100-200 ft yacht. These big yachts are gorgeous. I can imagine just cruising around the Caribbean in one of these beauties.

  • Seriously I think this one looks better than the Azzam ... This specific one has its own night club .. 3 launch boats .. a missle defense system .. and a submarine ! Lol and can even keep it self balanced when anchored ! It's amazing the quality and money put into these things! The company that builds them is responsible for some of the nicest and largest yachts in the world .. these modern mega yachts will last forever

  • Infrared lasers detect the electronic light sensors in nearby cameras, known as charge-coupled devices. When the system detects such a device, it fires a focused beam of light at the camera, disrupting its ability to record a digital image.

  • hehe! I'm sensing your doubt in the system, I know what you mean, "technically, it does work, but, not on all cameras...." hmmm, not sure they can say that "it works" then. All I know about the one they used at Blohm & Voss is that it 'fires' lasers in all directions, and 'fires' back any laser that picks up a 'type' of reflection. It doesn't stop the picture from being taken, but it will somehow block the image. The picture looks like a bright white circle with colour distortion in the corners.

  • It's only for DSLR, simply has very very bright UV lights that make it pretty much impossible to see. Just looks like a massive glare, but lots of phones today have anti UV filters unlike most DSLR, as they are meant to shoot RAW image and are meant to be customized, for example, using a lens to not take in UV light.

  • Yep... I'm not sure if the system actually works. It would have to sense a camera and I think that the only way it could do that is by sensing the infrared of an auto focus from a camera... we shoot manual focus, so this may be why the ship couldn't see us. Anyone know more?
