I bought a rebuilt the cheapest Porsche 718 Cayman S on the internet. There wasnt one single panel which wasn't damaged. The rear quarter, the roof and bumpers all had to be replaced and whilst i was there i upgraded them to GT4 body parts. Now that i have rebuilt it ive decided to bring it to Porsche Solihull for them to inspect my work!

  • I’ll never forget being 12 years old and on the way from my grandparents, we stopped off at Porsche Towcester, my 9 year old brother was obsessed with cars and we were greeted by one of the sales staff and my dad explained that the young lads loved cars and just wanted to have a look, they said this wasn’t an issue! 5 minutes later the sales staff came back with posters of the new 911, carrera GT and the cayenne for myself and my brother also a couple of pens, key rings and baseball caps ! I’ve currently got an RS7 but my next car will be a Porsche from this dealership! ❤

    • @@richardlacroix9069 your definition of "a lot of people" is all relative. And the fact that they're not recognized...well, some work at it, some don't, some care, some don't care. Also, your "lot of people", if truly equally skilled, IMO can also hold their head up high and have earned the right to be able to walk into any dealership as well. You're the one equating YT skills with earning the right and pride to do so. Frankly, your comments wreak of jealousy. Having said that, if you knew the amount of work it takes to have his skillset AND also produce great YT content such that he almost has 1M subs and rising fast, you'd appreciate that he should be able to hold his head up high... he grinded it out and worked at it and was not "instant". And lastly, since the above will likely not be enough to have "instant respect", what then, in your wisdom and opinion, would qualify for anyone to be able to walk into any dealership and command respect?

If every male Porsche customer was a gentleman like Mat, every interaction would be a positive one. Every dealership has had to deal with a few rude and offensive customers.Porsches are expensive to purchase, maintain and repair and not everyone is as knowledgable and resourceful as Mat.He understands the cost of owning and repairing these vehicles.

  • Many congratulations on a big thumbs following an inspection at the Porsche Workshop. All your hard work & determination paid off, and you now have a fabulous looking GT4 Cayman that you should be proud of. It was a good idea to delay the alignment check until after the replacement chassis 'brace' has been fitted. Boxsters, Caymans & 911s are all very sensitive to wheel alignment, and having all four wheels aligned properly will make a big difference to how the car feels, responds and drives. Keep up the great work! 👍👍

  • As a first time Porsche (981 Cayman S) owner as of 8 months ago, like you, I can attest to the dealership staff treating you like royalty, even in the US. Even if it's a second hand car that you didn't buy from their dealership like me. You drive into the bay, give your keys to the valet attendant, and the sliding glass doors automatically open up for you like you're walking on some sort of red carpet. They give you free Porsche merch at the store in the dealership. But then again, they charge you like royalty as well. I guess that's how they afford the $10,000 USD automatic coffee/espresso machine, massive TV's in the lounge, massive computer monitors on all the desks, etc. The owners in the lounge, however, are not nearly as down to earth in my experiences and can be quite stuck up. Even after graduating from a automotive tech program, their mechanics have to go through at least 12 months of additional, Porsche specific education at Porsche's mechanic school. They have three levels: bronze, silver, and gold. Each level requires a certain level of experience at Porsche dealerships and passing numerous written and practical exams. Gold technicians have to have at least 5 years of experience

Without hesitation I can say Porsche had the most friendly, down to earth staff. I'm just a tow operator and got looked down on by many dealerships, especially the higher end ones. But when I went into the Porsche service desk to drop off the keys, they welcomed me like a customer and even offered me complimentary coffee, tea or water while I was there. • Brilliant video! Such nice people at Porsche, I'm a big Porsche fan and videos like this only reinforce what a beautiful brand this is! I still have small children, so a sports car is not practical .. but someday, someday .. When the kids are a bit older .. There will be a Porsche in the driveway! ;) And Met, what a good job you did with this Porsche, thumbs up!

  • Much better than my first and only experience at a Porsche dealer in Philadelphia, PA. I intended to buy a Porsche that day but no one approached me or would talk to me. Dummies. But that experience in 1969 or 1970 taught me a wonderful lesson in customer appreciation. I insisted my employees greet everyone promptly, answer phone calls by the third ring and return messages ASAP. CUSTOMERS APPRECIATE THAT.

  • Take a typical 50,000 mile 6 year old example of any car into a main dealership for a 'by the book' inspection, and they will find various stuff wrong. I reckon this is car is in the same ballpark overall as any similar age and mileage example that's been used hard. Considering what you started with, it's amazing work. Fair play to you.

  • Good work! I owned a rebuilt 2005 Lotus Elise that had been absolutely destroyed in the rear left quarter but it was rebuilt and accumulated an extra 35k miles since the accident. It's with its new owner now and never had any mechanical issues that weren't simply caused by old Lotus stuff. It was a great buy!

  • I haven't seen the other videos on the Cayman, from here i can see you did great work on the car, Porsche Solihull is a top notch dealer and glad to see they treated you and your car the same as any other customer, i worked for a few high end import dealers in my day here at home in Canada and can say that some are good and some not so good, i can say for sure that some of the prices you have mentioned in the video are far more reasonable than what you'd pay here in Canada even with exchange from Sterling to CDN dollar which is about $1.70 in your favour , great video and look forward to future ones on the Cayman, new Sub
