    • Unfortunately, when I stepped on a nail, it was so rusted I had to pull it out in pieces 😅 I was running through a trail in flips and a board came up with my foot as a big ol’ rusted nail went right through the center of my foot. I have no idea how I did not get tetanus. Taking a single step was excruciating and that 1000 lb cow has had that in there for days maybe even weeks 😬 Bless him for helping these animals

  • I remember coming home from school when I was about 14 back in the 70's. My father was usually at work and this time he was sitting at the kitchen table with a pair of vice grip locking pliers. When I walked in he handed me the pliers and said pull this out. He had an 1/8 inch drill bit stuck through his fingernail. After being in WWII and spending just over a year in a hospital afterwards he didn't trust doctors. He survived the war without a scratch and delivered 10,000 men to the beaches of Normandy only to be hospitalized for a bowl infection that caused him to loose 4ft of intestine from something he contracted in Italy before discharge. If he was still around he'd be 106 next month and watching these videos with me, he was born in Wales and loved seeing British landscapes.

But then my the word “gobsmacked” came to mind when it came to the huge bit of mass bulging out of the hoof horn and the crazy disk of hoof horn just lifted away from the cows foot! • My mouth dropped open, and I had a chicken squawk to mask my swear, too. 😂 I paused it and showed my husband the size of that freakin nail! He thinks I'm nuts for watching your videos, but I love them!

  • You can literally see how much you helped her from how comfortable she was to put weight on it when she walked off

  • Oh my god, here I thought that horrifically long nail was going to be the wildest part of the trim, but it just kept getting weirder! That poor cow, I can only imagine how painful it was to have such a massive nail go right into her foot AND then have an absolutely *gigantic* sole ulcer too. I hope you lovely folks can keep us updated on this lady’s recovery process (and maybe keep that ring of hoof horn that completely detached from around the ulcer, give it a good clean, and put it on display in the Hoof GP office/garage because it’s just that weird and cool and certainly was a memorable trim)

  • 😮 That is... I don't have a word for it. Mind blowing! A nail like that in a horses hoof would mean confinement and treatment to prevent bone infection(with rads).. almost guaranteed coffin bone involvement.

  • 😮 I couldn't believe this hoof, I could actually feel her pain 😢! I have a story on iodine. I had gallbladder surgery in October, and some of my stitches got infected. I was given 10 days' worth of antibiotics. The wounds weren't infected anymore but kept leaking lymph because I had to keep the wounds covered. I thought, if Iodine drys out a hoof wound 🤔 then why not humans too. 2 times a day, I would wash them and apply the betadine (what we call it in the USA , and let it dry then put a wee bit of over the counter antibiotic creme and within 2 weeks of doing this, the wounds had dried up and I could uncover them. So thank you and your iodine!
