Remember those days where you can remove the battery by opening the back panel?
No one holds you back to use such a phone. There are still phones out there like the Fairphone. But if you don’t want to use it, it’s your fault! 😉
Yep, Galaxy S4 had an easily removable and replaceable battery :)
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
There is difficult to have waterproof… and phone working all the time. If you could pull out the battery some apps can not working in background
@@marcinwajs4508 The only apps that wouldn't work are the ones that are active when the system is off: which is basically the device-location apps provided by Samsung and Apple. And, Samsung used to make removable battery phones that were waterproof and yet easy to replace the battery in. Plus, the older phones used to have a detachable slot-loaded battery which was perfect.
Having to remove this much parts before accessing the battery is crazy. We need laws that bring back removable batteries in phones.
it's no different than the way an automobile is assembled. Deal with outdated tech, or pay somebody to fix the tech as it breaks.
@@Adventerouswolf88- it is different, actually. I believe more people DIY their vehicles than their technology.
@@JosephQPublic You literally can’t DIY many modern vehicles on behalf of the modern equipment. Oil changes maybe. But a lot of repairs that used to be “simple” now require expensive software to recalibrate certain parts that need to be removed and/or entire modules. Quite similar. Stick with the old outdated stuff, or pay someone to fix the new stuff. Removing a battery and replacing it in an old phone is much easy than any repair one would do on a vehicle.
The EU actually passed a law that says just that! By 2027 all phone batteries will need to be easily replaceable
@@lildoodooalso e-bike battery 🔋 and electric cars..
OK, My brain and eyes have learned, but my hands have not learned.
Re-installing the display adhesive was what I was waiting to see, because I feel like it's important to get it right, and you guys don't show it? Why?
Because they messed up on installing it
@@rx8dude907 D'OH!
I’ve put batteries in I phone 5 and 6 and they were quite straightforward, but this looks like it would try the patience of a Saint. Still going to give it a go when the time comes 👍
Let me know how you do. I did the 6 myself too, new glass as well a few times …. This looks a little but intense for sure .
Doesn’t look much harder then all the other phones tbh..
Big support for the channel and keep on making awesome content and guides and giveaways in the future as well. Worked for me
Its insane how tightly integrated and engineered phones are nowadays to fit as much technology in the smallest of spaces. Its fascinating to look at, but I can also understand how it could be a headache when it comes to battery replacements/repairs.
i remember me, when u could just buy a new battery for 10 euro/dollar and remove the back cover and replace it just with a few clicks and done. But now its like lock-pick to replace it (by yourself)
How much editing do you do on screen removal? Also when you put the screws back in how do you get them to stay on the tip of the driver? I would get them going to hole the magnetic screwdriver would change alignment. Any suggestions there?
How to glue the screen back or which adhesive and how to do it ?
do you always lose water proof after opening the phone? can’t have it back?
would you say it is still waterproof when finished?
GREAT video. EXCRUCIATING process.
Where to buy that battery ? And after replacement will the battery maximum capacity shows 100% ?
Hello, my iPhone 12 is not detecting my SIM card after the battery replacement. Any suggestions? Everything is assembled and working except the phone is not recognizing any sim.
Can you tell me where to take a course to learn the trade...?
I just removed the screen and heated the back glass up and slowly pryed the battery out. No problem. Took 15mins
I don't understand why they removed so many parts. Like removing the speaker, Sim card reader and taptic engine didn't change anything about the accessibility of the battery...
thanks you are the best, it works.
I skipped taking out the haptic engine, speaker etc. just took off the plates for the connectors, total of 6 screws not counting the bottom two on the outside
Where do we install the new adhesive to ensure water resistance is still operational?
Before you put the screen back on. And yeah, the video skipped that part aparently
Let's try it the next week! xD
Where can I buy a iPhone 12 battery and how much
I left a couple screws and the case jiggles but I have maximum battery life!
I had great trouble when installing one of the standoff screwer back for the taptic engine. I spent like 30 minutes on that single screwer alone. So my advice is if you have isopropyl alcohol to resolve the glue, do NOT uninstall the taptic engine.
never had issues
Sounds like a skill issue.
This should be a 0 skill adventure
What’s a screwer?
1/3 of the video is way too much - didnt remove, taptic, sim card and loudspeaker - just focusing on pulling the battery strip carefully.
I like the pick w the lip so u don’t stick it in too deep.
Can I use a y 0.6 instead y000
And who is the display gasket?? And after the battery replacement it is not waterproof??!!
Hello wonderful team, do you guys provide a course on mobile repair ?
Price of the battry Replacement?>?????
I can do it but man its so complicated! I just changed the battery on my iphone x, it was waaaay easier than this
does anyone know the kind of bottle iFixit uses to squeeze out the isoprophol alcohol?
Needle oiler bottle
Nice. Doesn’t look too bad except for that fancy suction cup tool. Doing a 6s & 8 battery replacement was very easy. Always had to use fishing line to saw the battery glue though. Thinking of grabbing a 12 . The 6s while a great solid device is just too small of a battery. And a battery case kills my LTE signal so I just need a bigger phone. Really should try an android but whatever, I’m anchored to 🍎.
How much its cost ?
I miss having a removable cover though I understand for water resistance It makes sense.
Thanks for this video. I ain’t touching my phone. Going Apple store for battery replacement.
I like the video clip 👍
I swear they are just making it harder and harder to change the battery lol
Right to repair
in my opnion it looks easier to do than iphone 4/4s back then, yes it is still so many parts needs to remove but the components looks easier to remove even if compared with previous iphone series like ipX or Xs.
Translation “just buy our next model it’s way more expensive”
@@Narucas dude, replacing the battery on iphone 4/4s literally takes 2 minutes. i owned tons of those devices for collection during years and they are so easy to repair compared to recent iphones
Yeah, I totally agree, it’s designed this way so that not anyone can do this but certified Apple repair.
Hello, just a question. Why do I need to take apart the taptic engine, speaker and the sim card holder first? I thought I can just disconnect the battery and replace it? Thank you
You have to take those off in order to access the black pull tabs on the battery
@@shadmansakib5742 no, he’s right, he doesn’t have to. Those can be accessed without doing all these steps mentioned. It will be a bit more tricky to pull the tape out, but it is completely doable (have done it myself)
how about waterproofing after changing the battery? any issue?
Ya the water seal haven’t been put back in so it will be water damage
If you replace the seal before reinstalling the screen, it will still be waterproof.
But it’s not as water proof as the one which came originally installed from the factory
Never treat any smartphone as 'waterproof' especially an iPhone. I remember seeing reviews of my XR saying it was fine to take swimming or immerse in water. 5 minute accidental dip in a pool killed it. Phones lose waterproofing over time so never ever risk it, even with those that have the highest ratings.
They truly don’t want people to repair their own devices! Out of spite when my battery dies I will replace it.
Actually iphone is the most repairable phones out there, but they only want their technician to do it for profits. Your iphone will easily last 7-8 years with good care. It's good for the environment
@@houghwhite411 Say that again with iphone 12.
@@houghwhite411 That's just not true at all
@@commie.franky I just saw some footages. My point still stands for last gen iphones. But they don't want you to repair it. They want monopoly over repair.
It’s just removing screws tho. If they didn’t want them to be repaired me they’d just solder everything they could. Plus you can take it to a store that fixes phones and get it done for like $100 or a bit more which is a good deal since it will make you phone last way longer.
why do all the components seen removed here need to be removed? as far as I can see, you open that first panel to be able to unplug the battery, then remove it. Same as the iphoneSE1- support the screen on an object like a soup can or something.
Does this process make the ip rating worthless?
Probably
I’m thinking about having it done on 3rd party repair shops in the future. We don’t have any apple authorized center in our place. Will it affect the software? Or by chance will it stop getting software updates?
Nobody knows about that, sadly But if I were to own iphone I'll give it a shot
Nope it does not
It’s not like the display or faceid
You are going to lose the battery health percentage
Nope if he knows how to do it properly then u will still have battery health
How does this affect the waterproofing of the iPhone 12?
Not waterproof, but water resistant. It eliminates that feature
@@BlackDragon31000 if you replace the seal it should still have its water resistance
Dont count on IP68 rating to be maintained after you do this job. Biggest possibility is, when you insert the guitar pick to take the display out, you'd have bent or dinged the edges ever so slightly that your naked eye wont catch it. THAT is all the water needs to get into despite of the new seal. Chances are pretty darn high of water getting in after this job!
Good jop thanks ☺️
Will the iphone 12 pro will still be water resistant after battery replacement
Yer if you give your phone a official service
Louis Rossmann: Use claw section of the claw hammer to pry the battery out
I probably could do this easily but I would need some practice first
What if you don’t have any tools for the iPhone but you got other tools that are small
Does face id work if I replace the battery on my iPhone 12?
It will if it’s done correctly if done with genuine Apple replacement parts, with aftermarket parts definitely not, that’s when I sell that phone quickly
Now is this still Waterproof ?🥺🥺🥺
Thanks for the video! It makes me realize why it is so expensive to replace the battery than iphone 11
If I soldered the new battery to the phone BMS (the one which came with the phone), would the phone recognize it as something different?
Very good idea but i actually think that the measuring data from the old battery doesn't fit to the brand new one so the iphone thinks there is something wrong. Maybe there is an option to reset it before the replacement?
If that’s the case, it would be very disappointing. Thinking about it again, apple would definitely do such thing as they lately went above and beyond to make it harder to repair their devices.
@@jasonvoorhees3282you will dont have alert about not recognised part but in battery option u will have old precentage. To have full exprience of new battery you have to resolder bms and connect it to battery cycle reprogramator like JCID.
If you have under ios 17 you dont need to use reprogramator.
If you replace the battery, does it the waterproof is loss?
Yes
if you install the seal before probably will hold some water but not sure will ever be like it was from factory
It will never be the same as it was when new out the box but then again no iPhone is truly water proof, the speakers will get jacked up and will never be the same unless you get that replaced
Landfill here they come. But don’t use plastic straws and bags! 😂
What about glue? If you change the battery will it still be waterproof??? I’m guessing not especially if you don’t use glue
probably, but then just don't get it too close to water, why would you want it to be submerged in water anyways?
This video looks easy because it’s under a magnifying glass, imagine how difficult it really is , gotta use a magnifying glass to determine which screw goes where, I’ll just go to the Apple store and get this done for 89.99
This is what’s they called moderate? 😅
manze 😅😅
The voiceover sounds very much like The Lockpicking Lawyer 😅
Didn’t I already see this video a few days ago?🤔
Reupload probably
Opening up the phone won’t retain the ip rating and will be prone to water
My 12 Pro shows that I have LiPoly battery… shouldn’t it be Li Ion?
No Worries. Just replace it if it's dead. It shöüldñt mättër.
After watching this video, I will leave my batt alone
this is insane
But the battery health doesent display at all
Ah…that simple!!
Allllll of that to replace a battery? Wow 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
I have a problem now after doing this my phone has a huge white line on the screen when i turn it on. any ideas how can i solve this? :/ HELP
You broke the display.
Aren’t all iPhone 12 models still under factory warranty including the battery?
I DID LIKE U SAID BUT NOTHING CHANGED ITS THE SAME THE PHONE THAT IS NOT IN USED NOTHING CHANGE
This is why we need right to repair laws in the USA.
anyone can help me? i installed new battery it was 3800mah but screen its not working sometimes it shows yellow screen idk why but touch is working because i can turn the flashlight on
You broke the display. You will have to replace it.
do NOT do this yourself. I've replaced a dozen iphone batteries in the past, but it took me nearly two hours to get the display off on this one, even tho I have a temperature controlled heat gun I replaced the battery just to find out that the display is broken now. I was already being really careful, that's why it took me so long, but this thing is so fragile, it's absolutely not worth it if you don't have the specialized apple repair tools!
To me… this seems like you removed a lot of things that were not hindering the removal of the battery. Was it for safety concerns , or removing some things to avoid being damaged. Again. Seemed like a lot more removed than what was holding that battery in. Based off previous designs is how this opinion was formed.
Exactly. I saw no reason to remove any of the other parts. Once you have access to the battery strip and can disconnect it…the next step is removing the tape straps. This was over complicated.
@@kenankajtezovic946 agree this is overly complicated, just changed mine and as you said, once you have access to the battery strips, there is no need to remove all the other parts. Makes me feel that the video was intentionally made this way to put people off doing it.
Accidentally ripped my screen class from the lcd I believe, I guess it was not a good idea to stick the pick in before I even saw a real gap
A removable case back would fix all of this.
that's why it's not there
Apple “awww but then you won’t buy our new iphone with shorter battery life when yours finally stops working in under a year”
Where do I get an official apple battery? lol and will my phone stop working if i replace the battery?
This waaaaaay tooo hard for me
That battery notification would annoy me too much. I think iPhone X was the model for DIYers :-/. Hate how they’ve locked it down so much.
It’s a temporary notification. It goes away after a couple weeks
icopy is like 40 if you care about it so much
You could just disable the notification
@@mohammed.baig. hmph, when they do repair it'll just be a refurbished model instead of your current model.
This is 100x more complicated then removing a battery on a galaxy s10
But Samsung's battery doesn't have a battery pull tab and is held by very strong adhesive.
Louis Rossmann :-) Mind says Uffh
unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine iPhone battery
the video even mentioned this in the beginning
Reinstall your display adhesive… why not show this step? Waterproofing the phone is pretty important.
Doing it half ass.
To be fair, this is tedious, but not that complicated.
Yeah no this is complicated 😂
Well, thanks for the video. That being said… nope.
So, there was adhesive scraped off the edge of the screen. Is that adhesive not replaced? I was in a battery store and overheard the clerk quote a price of $189.00 to replace the battery in this iphone 12! I thought the battery must be really expensive, but no, they run around $40.00! So, the labor, at least at this one shop, is $150.00!!! I thought "I wonder if I can do this at home?" Yup! Here I am watching this video! I already have an iFixit toolkit, and the job doesn't look difficult, so I'll do it myself if ever needed.
dang that's insane. a store near me quoted for 60 bucks...but I already bought the kits haha. I'm just gonna do it.
Apple store will practically replace most new iPhone batteries for 100.00 or less, iPhone 12 only cost 89.99
@@johnjkizer6399 yea my repair shop does it for about the same price as well, i think it was just that repair shop. oem as well
I’ll pay extra and just have a phone repair center do this instead
I’m using only one year. The battery capacity is 85% . I will not buy iPhone 📱 again , I swear
And you’ll be greeted with a non genuine battery lol
Why would your iphone 12 battery be broken as of now? It has literally only been 5 months since the release date when this vid was uploaded. What's going on.
you can come back and watch the video in a few years when your battery does need replacing.
Uncertified cable chargers can cause damage to the battery or even motherboard in worst cases.

What % should you replace your battery? My battery health is 88% 12 pro max
When it drops below 80% the phone will start randomly switching off.
Whenever the battery life of the phone becomes a problem for your day to day
I have been using my iPhone 12 pro for a year and already the battery needs service. Been using it pretty extensively watching hours of videos in 2x speed but still very disappointed in the longevity of the battery. Now the battery goes very quickly down to 1% and it can last hours at 1%. Tried calibrating it but replacement seems like the only way to keep using it...... At this point I'm considering switching back to my OnePlus 5T and give apple the middle finger tbh.
it didn't even come out for a year
You’re probably using a non-certified cable. Non-certified cables use cheap parts and have almost no proper chips to properly charge the phone. Commonly, the tristar chip goes out due to this issue. In other cases, further motherboard damage happens. In rare cases, the whole battery literally just dies. But usually, the battery cells are damaged causing the battery to die out quickly.
I’m a profesional phone repair technician btw.
