To make experimental coin cells, we roll out purchased sodium metal cubes into a thin sheet using a pasta press. This procedure must be performed in a controlled inert environment, such as an argon-filled glovebox, to minimize contact of sodium metal with water vapour (less than 0.5 ppm).

Great Video! Thank you!
What material is the separator made of/from?
Whats the name or the equipment that you use to even out sodium foil
Can you work with sodium metal on a nitrogen atmosphere glove box? Or is it reactive with nitrogen same as lithium metal? Thank you
Should the wipes have a special characteristic?
What is the material of that cardboard?
Its been four months when will more videos of sodium-ion batteries will be uploaded?
Hello, we hope you like the videos. Our last video was uploaded in May on mixing and spreading hard carbon electrodes. You can watch here: kzhead.info/sun/lKueh5p_h6uKjXA/bejne.html
Could you let me know a link to buy this pasta press?
it is found in many online shops :)
@@jennybaker5946 thank you!
I have doubt .... Does sodium metal dipped in kerosene oil is been used in battery
this is for undertaking electrochemical tests rather than using it for a commercial battery
Its processed in oxygen and water free environment
The name of the chemical is "sodium", not "sodium metal". You repeated the word each time. We know it's a metal. Iron is also a metal, but we don't say "iron metal". We also don't say "sulfur nonmetal". Also, never press sodium into paper. In rare instances it can actually ignite. In an argon glovebox that isn't a safety issue, but it will char the surface. Potassium is even worse in this case. To avoid sodium sticking to steel, wet it with kerosene. There is no need to remove protective liquid before kneading and rolling sodium.
Its called sodium metal because, there are sodium term in battery word does not use metal, but sodium chemistry to produce sodium ion effect
