The reality is production houses will sell ice to an Eskimo. Everyone gets antsy when you say you don't need this or that. but lets see who turn a profit first because this is a business after all, the guy who needs a $500 light meter to take a single photo or a guy who is familiar with camera science and color enough to save my movie, photoshoot, documentaries and all the productions in-between $500 from the first second i hire "him". You "study photography" and cannot see that he painted onto a ND0 filter? Really? I can even see it being attached multiple times in the video clip...
@asagk12 күн бұрын
@asagk I'm in high-school, first off, so chill, I'm not perfect. And second, I only personally saw a zooming lens on it, not anything else, though, I could very much be wrong, as I am, as previously stated, a senior in high-school
@lillyjammer26gamingandfursuits12 күн бұрын
@@lillyjammer26gamingandfursuits If you look at the camera lens while the photos are being taken, you will see a small "gap" at the outer end of the lens. This is the ring of the screw-on filter. Based on the transparency of the filter, which can be seen earlier in the video when paint was applied, you can see that the filter hardly or not at all reduces the incident light, and is therefore probably an ND 0.00 or ND 0.03. Personally, I think a Skylight would be a better choice, even though painting a Skylight filter is an expensive affair as it might damage the coating of the filter. And a little tip on the subject of filters: A camera lens should always have at least some filter screwed on for protection purposes, because damaging the coating on the lens glass itself would be very expensive. A cheap ND filter is completely sufficient. It is also popular to use a Skylight filter as a lens protector because it also reduces Rayleigh scattering.
@asagk12 күн бұрын
@@lillyjammer26gamingandfursuits By the way, the "Mamiya Sekor Z 110mm 1:2.8" being used in the video is not a zoom lens, but a slight tele-lens commonly used for portrait and fashion photography, while the "normal lens" might be something like 80mm for medium format roll film cameras. Accordingly for a 35mm film the "normal focal length" would be 50mm and a slight tele-lens (common in portrait/fashion) would be around 80mm.

Presumably it was a very subtle ND filter that got ruined not the lens itself, hard to tell it's even there on most of the pictures too guessing because it seems like a paint pen so it's opaque and blocks light instead of adding a green hue like if it were translucent so the only way to really work with it is to have the subject far enough away to blur it in/out of the foreground

As an IMM student who studies photography, I cry internally when things are put directly on the lens.
You "study photography" and cannot see that he painted onto a ND0 filter? Really? I can even see it being attached multiple times in the video clip...
@asagk I'm in high-school, first off, so chill, I'm not perfect. And second, I only personally saw a zooming lens on it, not anything else, though, I could very much be wrong, as I am, as previously stated, a senior in high-school
