Inside Jorge Prado's GasGas MC 450F Supercross Bike with Mechanic Kyle Defoe | Bike Breakdown

Kris Keefer scoured the pits before the 2024 Anaheim 2 Supercross to get some deeper insights on the race bikes we see in Monster Energy AMA Supercross. One of the more unique stories is that of FIM World Motocross champion Jorge Prado moonlighting the first four rounds of the series in the USA. Keefer caught up with his mechanic here Kyle Defoe to dig into what Prado has been working on as he learns supercross. Have a listen as they break down the difference in chassis feel from supercross to MXGP, what engine characteristics he's looking for, how he sets up his suspension compared to his teammates, and so much more.

  • When keefer turned the front end it looked tight. Damper like rc or just tight steering stem?

    @johng6586@johng65863 ай бұрын
    • I noticed that too. I don't think they run a damper, but there could be several reasons why it was so stiff including as simple as just brand new components in a brand new well put together assembly done by nice mechanics. Or they are running some type of friction material in there or the smallest damper in the world, lol, but those are wild guesses.

  • So is the new frame stiffer or more compliant? Different reviews say different things

    @stufrowin@stufrowin3 ай бұрын
    • I think they were hinting about how he is running the production frame which I am assuming is more compliant than the factory frame. Not differences from year to year. Not sure tho

  • It's surprising how much Prado has to loose doing this. He doesn't want to pick up an injury before the mxgp season and is racing a super staked field in the sx. It would be hard not to get competitive and push himself. He's also just doing a few rounds as a guest and wouldn't want to make enemies by taking out someone who is in true contention for the championship. Full respect to the guy for just racing with nothing to gain but experience

    @chalkybruce@chalkybruce3 ай бұрын
    • es el primer comentario inteligente que leo sobre Prado,... el solo esta probando y no podia forzar en absoluto para evitar una lesion a pocos dias del inicio del campeonato del mundo y tampoco podia interferir con los que se juegan el campeonato....., deberemos esperar para ver todo su potencial, y te aseguro que mejorara muchisimo.....
