Excellent video, this timeline works very well and it's very structured, and thanks for include the comics the truth is that comics also are very importans in the story of the Monsterverse no just because shows some moments that we didn't seen in the movies, also the comics explains and answers very well some questions and details that the movies couldn't shows and works in the story of the movies, like the case with the cómic Godzilla: Aftershock his story fits with the movies, in special with the first three ones

Yeah, I state in the video that Awakening is essentially non-canon, but I kept it in because there’s still some good stuff in it, and also Legendary still seems to acknowledge it as canon though I don’t know why 🤷♂️

@@balticdragon-2303no he did not. The writer of Godzilla aftershock and dominion said that his novels are canon until the films and tv say otherwise. Awakening is done. The other comics still work and will likely stay canon. Awakening was written before a monsterverse was even thought up. It’s more of a proof of concept.

a very very very nice overall look at the timeline, always great to see the sequence of events put into chronological order! only one thing to note though! At 08:31 one of the series creators Brian Duffield, confirmed that the creature that Cap saw was not godzilla, they said they didn't have the proper rights to give the character a cameo in the series, even if it was off camera, other then this detail, this is a great timeline!

I heard it’ll be set in 2028, but we’ll find out! Personally, I find myself really invested in Monarch’s post-WW2 era stories and the Skull Island time period. Would like to see more of that.

It's not that the directors didn't care. it's the fact that they didn't analyze the events of awakening in order to make the comic share a connection with the MV. But they are aware of the other comics that are actually canon, such as Birth Of Kong, Aftershock, Dominion, and Kingdom Kong, so basically they're playing it safe with the comics while not trying to contradict nor retcon them.

I would like the point out that aftershock is not canon, meaning muto prime always existed but never fought Godzilla, it is canon that muto prime killed dagan and caused the 2014 incident
Which is super frustrating, but like I said in the video all the comics need to be considered LOOSE canon because filmmakers just don’t respect them. I expect all of the comics to be retconned by a movie at some point, despite Legendary saying that they’re canon.
The fact that the serie didn't showed or mentioned some things about this cómic that's not means that is not canon anymore, the serie was counting a story very different with other characters therebofore this serie didn't needed explains that explicity
despite some flaws and some small retcons to comics.....this universe have been probably the most consistence of all cinematic universe, almost all treats and new character can be explain and trace to a timeline that doesn't contradict each other like idiotic inconsistencies like the ones in the MCU and DCEU, things like the ENTIRE CAPTAIN MARVEL movie, the eye of Nick Fury, the Eternals and the gods in Moon Knight and huge mistakes of timelines like the year Homecoming take place, and in the DC side, the entire existence of the JSL in Black Adam is literally a middle finger to Man of Steel....Wonder Woman 84, and some weird inconsistencies between Justice League (both Wheddon and Snyder versions) and Aquaman or the differences of how the world sees super heroes in the Snyderverse vs Shazzam, WW84, Aquaman, Blackadam etc. The Monsterverse have so far avoided this and keep a more linear path even when go back and create prequel stories, is not perfect but is hell a lot better than any cinematic universe so far.

Interesting. I haven’t personally seen that many people calling MUTO prime “loose canon,” but the filmmakers seem to look at all the comics like that, which is really too bad. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the comics are eventually retconned by movie writers. 🤷♂️

In the face of all those who say that Awakening and Aftershock are not canon.
Awakening cannot be canon. In Monarch, it was just being established in the 50’s. According to Awakening, it had been around since the 40’s. Both cannot be true. Also, awakening makes it seem like monarch doesn’t believe Godzilla exist whereas in legacy of monsters, Monarch was formed because of Godzilla. Aftershock, on the other hand, still fits in snuggly. Awakening was completed with an old script of Godzilla 2014 in mind. This comic doesn’t fit in with the monsterverse at all.
I wish Awakening could be canon because there’s some cool stuff in there, but I reread it after watching Legacy of Lonsters, and there are just way too many contradictions for it to be canon. Like godzillamaster34 said, they both can’t be true.
