  • Not quite, the girl demonstrating "correct swimming" isn't doing it right, either. kzhead.info/sun/h7SIZLF7eYN_lIU/bejne.html You swim from your core, and the legs basically act as a whip. You keep your hands and head in a straight line. You're moving up and down too much, even by keeping your arms at your ears, which is a very counterproductive way to swim.

    @Kidiu@Kidiu7 жыл бұрын
    • Hi, I think the dolphin kick she is trying to teach is more for mermaiding purposes. The video that you've linked is good if you wanna swim without mermaid tails. =)

      @MermaidAmarie@MermaidAmarie7 жыл бұрын
    • amarie tolentino No, the dolphin kick works with or without monofins. The video I linked simply provides info on how to swim quickly/effortlessly, and works *especially* well with mermaid tails. Even without a tail, the girl in the link swims more like a mermaid, very natural looking.

  • hello, I want to improve my ability to hold my breathe underwater. the only thing is that I live in Ct and it is too cold for me to swim most of the time which makes for inconsistent practice and training. I would practice holding my breath above water but it's different because of the pressure of water. do you have any tips or training techniques that I can do out of water to help me hold my breath underwater?

    @motherofmagikarp9495@motherofmagikarp94957 жыл бұрын
    • I hope they do a video on this too. I try practicing above water and have been able to get past a minute and thirty seconds, but it's completely different underwater. It's taken be a while to just get to twenty seconds when I'm swimming.

      @underfirebutok@underfirebutok7 жыл бұрын
    • well you just have to breath out and bubbles will come out of your body and are full of air hope this helped :)

      @nouveauxz@nouveauxz7 жыл бұрын
    • Holding your breath isn't "just" holding in air. In order to stay longer underwater, you need to slow down all your body. This slowing process can be easily practiced above water because you need to do that before you enter the water. What I do is: - Depending on what I'm trying to do, 4 or 5 minutes of deep breathing, totally still and relaxed. Sometimes, I can even go up to 10 minutes if I'm trying to break my record. - Relax your whole body. Yoga is a good solution, but otherwise, you can train to relax in every pose. Start by trying to relax when your are lying, then sitting, then standing. You need to be conscious of your body slowly relaxing, ... - When you are doing a physical exercise, check how fast your heart beats, if you're out of breath quickly, ... And try to manage it (eg: when doing in the plank don't hold your breath but take deep breaths and expire slowly). This will help you (well, your body) to manage exercise that can then be used when underwater. - Train holding your breath after all these steps is also important because it conditions your body to think in a certain way: I'm doing this so this will happen (in this case, no air for a long time). Just be really careful when holding your breath: go step by step (15 seconds more per try and not" how long can I hold"), always have someone watching you or people nearby and don't try to break your record each time. If you really want to improve, training 2 to 4 times a week is a good idea or do the first 3 steps daily. Hoped this helped you ^^

  • I unintentionally study the movements of animals when I watch shows or anything about them, so when I'm swimming with a tail(which I'm hoping to get soon) I use the knowledge of my memory's of animals to help me swim. In my mind= "I wanna swim like a mermaid, I gotta be a mermaid." It helps a lot

    • It's because humans have knees, getting a fully fluid tail is basically impossible, and your knees are bound to bend slightly while swimming
