Through out the story I saw Anna the villain, but she did show the greed and stupidity of the rich, they were using her as much as she used them, they all fell for the Big Spender and bypassed her with all kinds of proper procedures. Having that said, Anna deserved to be punish of what she did, especially to Rachel and Nora.

  • Important note: In reality, Rachel did not make $600,000. She made $75,000 with a potential to make $300.000 on the book. And the HBO movie fell through. There were a lot of inaccuracies in the show. Rachel was treated unfairly in the show in that her personality is very different in real life. Netflix intentionally portrayed her badly since she didn't sign with then, but with HBO. Even Kacy and Neff took exception with the way Rachel was portrayed and didn't really have much animosity toward her. She was screwed over by a selfish sociopath. The show was entirely too sympathetic toward Anna despite how truly evil she is. That really irked me. Makes me mad at Netflix.

  • The Jessica Pressler/journalist character was beyond irritating. That is not meant as disrespect for Anna Chlumsky at all, who played the character well. I just found the character's complete lack of boundaries or logical reasoning frustrating. It was also irritating that the show leaned into that character's empathy for the convicted towards the end of the series. I dont think we needed yet another show centered on "poor little white girl on trial/in jail". It was weird and awkward.

  • You didn’t explain why you thought it was “funny” that Anna wasn’t proven guilty of defrauding Rachel. Rachel wasn’t the “bad guy”- she didn’t con Anna. What I didn’t like was the detached attitude of the pregnant reporter towards her unborn child. If she it acknowledged her pregnancy at all- it was negative. Was she inventing her own “Anna”? It made me think of babies in Russian orphanages that never bonded with their mother or any human due lack of affection. At the end she spoke of missing her daughter- but too late for me.

Let’s face it, the daycare business in a America is booming because mothers have to work otherwise you end up on the streets especially if you are living from hand to mouth. The truth will always touch a nerve. What the journalist was doing, is what most mothers do in the western world.

  • If Neff the real person was just as loyal as the character- I feel sorry for her. How can anyone put trust in a person you barely know. She was at 11 Howard for 3 months. She put trust in someone after 3 months? Yes I know Anna paid her back (with money she stole from banks) But poor Rachel was 60 Gs in the hole for months! If you KZhead her, she almost got evicted AND was only making 60k in 2017- which let me tell you it's peanuts in NYC. I looooved the series but definitely don't feel bad for Anna. And if you search her on KZhead you will want to straight up punch her in the face.

    • Neff was a huge embarrassment and a huge pick-me. Anna waves some $100 bills in her face and boom! She’s Anna’s loyal sidekick from then on. She was so enamored that the seemingly rich girl wanted to be her “friend.” It’s like the loner whose life finally has meaning because the popular crew finally let her sit at the lunch table with them.

      @tam9856@tam98562 жыл бұрын
    • I don't think it was about loyalty or trust. Neff wanted Anna's money, influence, connections, etc. She wanted to be a film director and every film director dreams of meeting that rich person who will help them fund their films. Her loyalty was actually blind hope that the illusion was true. Which seemed pretty pathetic.

    • Luckily Rachel wasn’t charged by Amex for the costs in the end but imagine the stress of going through that before that happened. I’ve seen a lot of people trash her for being a ‘freeloader’ but a lot of rich people have a lot of friends who make less money and are used to them picking up tabs/expenses. I’m not saying it’s a right to expect that and you should show consideration even if they can afford it and split costs. Recently Anna posted to her story accusing Rachel of shedding ‘white woman tears’, faking her trauma and harassing her to write a book together. She’s a sociopath and has no remorse

    • By my interpretation they were manipulated by her. At the end she started to put herself like “I’m a poor girl abandoned by the parents who crave the American Dream”. And also “I’m super super smart and dedicated, but because I don’t have money, I’m invalidated by the powerful people around me”. The fact that she uses people who ~ hypothetically ~ uses her for being a German heiress also help with that tone (like a modern Robin Hood).

I don’t know you but i do think i get where you’re coming from But here’s something I learned that might be useful: People who are “invalidated, controlled, manipulated and etc” by others with more power are usually intelligent, but not necessarily smart. They’re two very different and distinctive qualities. I am very intelligent (ability to learn) but wasn’t very smart (ability to act) for most of my 20s, therefore, I let many people walk all over me till I became aware of this difference. I learned you don’t have to be intelligent to be successful in this society, but you have to be smart. • Vivian was pregnant/had a baby so the pregnancy/post-preg hormones probably made her extra empathic and caring. Even her husband implies that she's projecting her maternal feelings onto Anna. Plus she bonded with Anna through meeting her every week. Anna might be a narcissist but most people probably saw a young woman by herself with little social/family support in a scary New York prison so that made them more caring towards her. The people she defrauded were elitist institutions and high society members who already have a bad rep so it was harder for people to empathize with them.

  • I also wished it had answered more questions too - if she is now in ICE custody, why hasn't she just been deported? What happened to all of her designer clothes & belongings? She couldn't have really dumped them in the trash? And how did she get money when she did have some? with the exception of the $200K advance (which was apparently only $100K irl) and later on in the story - you can't just get into these circles w/o having had $$ from somewhere at some point. The wealthy boyfriend was also apparently fabricated for the show, so I don't know if that also means the older wealthy female she stole from in the show was as well? (I can't recall that character's name) I am surprised in the end there wasn't more compassion for Rachel - just because someone finally gets their terrible traumatic situation "made right" doesn't mean it didn't happen. There is ZERO wrong with her profiting off of this after all she was put through. It's the equivalent of a settlement in a trial when someone is awarded damages after a number of years of trauma - but no one is disgusted by that! I'm sure Rachel would have preferred having never met Anna than go through what she did. But I can't know that of course. Crazy story!

It baffles me how so many of even those she used and abused, are compassionate toward her. She got off with a hard slap on the wrist for all the felony charges she was guilty of. I doubt she served the full three years. Her generosity at times, was all about the power she could display by giving huge tips and picking up the tab when out with friends. She didn't earn that money, she lied and conned the banks to advance her the cash that allowed her to live so well. Just plain spoiled and delusional about how brilliant and talented she was. • The fact that she could dupe so many high profile people says alot about her abilities. Its almost like she could manipulate peoples minds! How else can you explain the hundreds of people taken in by her? In my opinion her goal was being able to control people. I think high school scared her badly and she needed to not be a victim. Shes scary, a narcassist with no remorse for sure.

  • Umm... I don't agree on the "Anna attracting good" for Rachel, the journalist or the lawyer... It was the reporting (nose for the story), the competence of the lawyer and the Rachel being brave and going out with the story.... If they played any of it any differently, the end would have been completely different. So, no,it was not Anna. AlsoI believe that Todd wasvery invested in gis career and that he cared for Anna... but okay 🤷‍♀️

  • I think so many people are forgetting the essence of this miniseries, it's a documentary about the kind of life Ana delvey lived . The accent , hair , looks Julia Garner had In the series is a representation of how Ana lived . They could given Julia a better hair, she could have used her real accent, but that would have deviated from the representation of who Ana delvey is .

  • I had never heard of Anna Delvey before watching the series but know a lot of people like the ones she scammed. I think the show did a great job creating characters and telling the story from multiple perspectives. Julia Garner did a fantastic job portraying Anna and deserves an award for her performance! I'm still not sure what to believe or think about the real Anna Delvey...and maybe that's the point.

  • In a way, the show has parallels with Diderot‘s „Rameau‘s nephew“. A play from the baroque era. We like to watch with amazement a parasite. The more brash and arrogant it claims to get on with a charismatic and wily megalomaniac, the more we like to love it. At the same time, we get involved into trouble with our moral standards. Our societies and so we all play the same game. We pretend so much to have a sublime life and work on our image and post it on social media. Almost everbody likes to be important, the center of attention, considered to be more than we actually are. There’s just one thing most of us hopefully has got. The claim of dignity to avoid being socially stipped and presented as a prisoner, an a…hole, a liar. Our image maybe is important but how lonely you get, when you lose yourself by ignoring the proportions of your behavior. The ending has left me in confusion. Is it alright to excuse her deeds just because she reveals a friendlier and more emotional approach to Vivian? Does it inspire others not to change when their behavior gets destructive. Is there no responsibility for my behavior or can I justify all with a machiavellistic attitude and believing my own lies? Actually the last two episodes are disappointing for me. They don’t reach the clever concept and the brilliance of the shows before. The cliches get cheaper and cheaper, the plot and the way of showing her parents and the surrounding of her childhood and the way of the german town, where she grew up was very superficially and naively portrayed.

  • I enjoyed it very much! I’ve ended up with many mixed feelings, like her friends. It’s odd but I have more negative feelings towards the creep who stole my kids good warm winter clothes from my washing line, who left me broke and unable to replace the clothes! That’s a petty criminal, I know, but that was worse than what anna did. She knew who she ripped off! They could afford it, except Rachel, who broke the terms and conditions of a corporate card. Her responsibility, anna should have shown more mercy to her. That’s all.

  • Can someone explain to me why the lawyer allowed the journalist to get in so close? As a journalist/column writer anything she found was only ever going to be used to the detriment of Sorokin, what journalist in reality would have been of value in Sorokin's defence in the trial. The lawyer, in reality, would not have given any journalist any access whatsoever, so, can any bright minds here give me a reason why it was portrayed as it was in the Netflix series????? I liked all the actors in the show, fantastic job in that regard, the Garner girl has a beeeeeeeg future!

  • If there's anything more pathetic than living just to make money, is to live for the sake to be recognize. Anna is the latter, everything she did was to raise her recognition, to be popular, like a teenager brag about her followers. She could have make a lot of money using her connections, while keeping hidden assets for future days, but she didn't. She managed her money poorly and even worse on her social skills, which resulting her losing everything.

  • OMG, Anna! "Beyond" the reach of her parents' love and caring, and even more beyond her true self, lives in "delusion". A crazy egomaniacal character, always ACTS as if she's a visionary and ambitious, and tricks people to get attention, to become "famous". She gets money for her "life is to live" by using people's "guilt and love" (Rachel). Interestingly, people who surrounded the selfish Anna eventually face problems in their relationships (Todd & Vivian). Thoroughly enjoyed the nearly 10 hour long series, definitely not expecting the 2nd season, though, as Anna, a cunning (Val & Chase) and an abnormal personality (parents & society), being the center of the story. Everybody wants to grow, sadly, by using others, Anna by using rich ones, Vivian, Todd, Rachel, and others by using Anna.

  • Also, total shade to the person who created this video. I don't like how you said some things should've been shaved down and you pointed to Laverne Cox. Also the person who played Neff did a phenomenal job, AND she was the stand out, the lawyer was boring. And that needs to be acknowledged. And the closing of those characters you wanted to see, it's clear you didn't do any research because those characters actually didn't exist they were fictitious. That's why they weren't included in the story, because the real life people were used as background info.

  • I tried to watch it. After 3 episodes I got fed up with Anna's accent...it was like she was talking with marbles in her mouth and it didn't sound like the real Anna anyway. I watched the story through youtube videos about Anna Delvey (Sorokin) instead. I love Julia garner in Ozark and even her acting in Inventing Anna just not the accent she put on. It didn't sound Russian or German to me and it was difficult to understand

  • I enjoyed this series however I had to get past the journalist who had to prove to I don't know who ,that as a woman she is nothing special and deserves to pursue her career at all cost .Women are strong and resilient like any person men included. But we are special. No other species on the planet Can carry a child for nine months all the while tethering on the verge of a health crisis at any moment.Women love their husbands and are respectful to them.A marriage is a partnership.Shonda continues to portray female characters as some monster that does not enjoy being who they are.She destroyed the show she had on ABC by turning Olivia Pope into some form of a woman that was so confused that the audience left the show.Women have tremendous freedoms and enjoy being women .Not because you have not had the joy of carrying a child and the joys of an equal loving partnership means that these situations don't exist.
