Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.
Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

  • "Talk to me and you get your rootbeer" This single line would effectively kill the validity of any testimony in any court as the defending lawyer would argue that DEA were witholding food and drink in order to force out a testimony. That could also turn into a counter case against the DEA, for denying a suspect their basic human rights and Hank & Gomez would be fired on the spot+prosecuted. The police interrogators are generally careful with their words because they are in full awareness of the fact that ANYTHING that is said CAN BE USED AGAINST YOU. This also includes them. That's why you get a lawyer. A lawyer knows this game and will force the cops to play along with the rules.

  • 3:49 look at that plane, Gomez' position is a corner and that lighting, like kinda angel. I don't think it's something deliberate, it must mean something but I don't catch it. Maybe, that Steve is representing here that he's cleaner than Hank actually is, because it's obvious that he's not playing fair, manipulating Wendy to rat on Pinkman, but I know, it's just a coincidence.

    • What? Getting accomplices to rat on each other is like interrogation tactics 101. He didn’t lie to her or anything. Just asked her a few questions.

    • I hadn't noticed it till you mentioned it...but I think you may be correct. The subtle film angle/lighting is something a lot of directors do. It probably happens so often, or done so subtly, that we hardly notice till it gets pointed out. Well done catching that.

  • I think a serious thing here is the fact their two separate stories could have been a disaster. NEVER talk to the cops….. “I would like to speak to an attorney” I’m not some outlaw but most convictions are based on interrogation. You will never outsmart a cop that’s been to seminars, schools and explicit training to bust people.

    • Even if you're completely innocent, your testimony during an interrogation can easily be used to hang you. You say "I didn't like the guy, but I didn't do it, I was [verifiable alibi]", and police testify that "he said he didn't like the guy".
